granpajo
I've spent the last few hours trying my first attempt at installing a GTA 4 mod. I've read a ton of pages, on many different sites and no matter what I do, I can't get any mods to load. To start I was going to install the Crysis nanosuit mod, since it seemed easy enough. I downloaded several version of asi loaders and c++ hooks and most of them did nothing and just loaded me into the vanilla game. When I finally gave up I had downloaded the asi and c++ tools that were supposed to be compatible with 1.0.7.0 and all they did was crash the game before it even loaded. What exactly do I need to install to get mods to work? What tools, what hooks, what sacrifices to which gods?
Seddo
I'll move your topic to the modding forums, you will get better help from there .

NaidRaida
To make the game ready for modding you need to use a different filelist.pak file. Use this one: http://www.mediafire.com/?w4lj54pqxiocia6 Backup and replace the old one from /pc/data/ folder. My steps for modding: - Get a fresh install - Patch it with official patch - Replace the filelist.pak - Start modding This worked for me on hundreds of installations. Make sure your config fits each mod specific requirements. This concept is for GTA IV store version.
granpajo
I'm running the steam version, is there any difference there? I'm running a fresh install, and I added that filelist.pak, just now and still no dice. Do the mod files belong in the primary gta 4 folder or one of the sub directories? granpajo
I dont know whats going on. I've reinstalled, updated .net, gotten all the latest loaders, done everything it says in the install, and these mods just flat out refuse to load. I've even gone out and found steam specific mod tutorials and followed them to a T and it refuses to load. The game loads fine, but none of the mod effects are in.
