COLWcF
I run GTA IV (1.0.4.0) with High Textures, and Medium everything else. Resolution is that of the monitor, 1400x1050. All the sliders are at 48, and the shadow density is set to 10. VSync is off, and Definition is on. Anti Aliasing is at 2. The game runs smoothly. I've haven't checked framerate, because there's no need. It's definitely higher than what the human eye can see (24-30). EFLC, running the same settings with adaptions, mainly being night shadows is on at Medium and there is no shadow density option, lags balls. In the same places, at the same times of day, EFLC lags so bad I don't play it anymore. I could count the framerate on my hands. Iv'e tried lowering the settings, but that does nothing at all. After 10 minutes or so the game gets better, but the second I start driving or get in a shoot out there's a noticeable negative difference in framerate. System Specs: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 @ 2.5GHz Nvidia GTX 465 (1GB GDDR5 ram) running 275.50 (latest drivers) 4 GBs DDR2
OverTheBelow
Have you updated to the latest patch on EFLC? There was a bug that would make the framerate lower to a crawl when near water if clip capture was disabled on the original game. It's definitely higher than what the human eye can see (24-30) Don't even get me started on that complete bullcrap statement. The human eye does not see in frames and is well capable of detecting the difference between 100 and 30 fps provided that the monitor can display the two correctly. Movies are at 24fps with a ridiculous amount of motion blur that essentially tricks the eye into seeing it smoothly. No more on the subject. COLWcF
What I meant by that was not that high framerate was undetectable on screen, I meant the framerate was satisfying for what I paid for it. I guess I have low standards from being one of the first people to play FSX on an average system. EFLC is 1.1.1.0 and Clip Capture is off in both games. Can I update EFLC without updating GTA IV? Thanks. EDIT: I remember that animations class a little more, you're right. There are 30 frames in a second was what I was thinking. OverTheBelow
EFLC is a standalone game, so you can apply the patch without it affecting GTA 4.
mkey82
Actually, there is a settings bug where one game overwrites the settings of the other game. Patch 7 specfically addressed this issue.

mkey82
It's questionable if the fixes are mutually exclusive. If only one update were enough, why would one need to update both games?
OverTheBelow
I have no idea, but it is written in the patch notes though if I recall correctly. Perhaps it relates to where clips are stored.
mkey82
What I'm saying is that both games probably need to be updated so there are no overwriting issues, in response to the question above.
COLWcF
I have quite a lot of mods with GTA IV that can't go over to 1.0.7.0 and Iv'e also heard that patches 1.0.4.0 make GTA IV run slower.....presumably because they add whatever was added into EFLC to make it lag so hard. I will update EFLC though.
COLWcF
Updated. Still lags. Bad. Worse than IV.
mkey82
Go to eflc graphics settings and do an autoconfigure.

radioman
Actually, there is a settings bug where one game overwrites the settings of the other game Actually, that ONLY seems to happen with Xliveless in place-as when I just installed EFLC about 3 days ago, I loaded both games up(TLAD and TBOGT), and set up the settings...then started to play them(by the way, IV and EFLC seem to share the same User Track folder for Independance FM, as all I had to do was the scan tracks part and it was working with the same songs from IV's User Tracks player-lol)...But back to the Xlivess thing, then when I copied and pasted the Xlivess tool from the IV directory to the EFLC directory(easier than re-downloading it, since it is the same tool for both games), then the first time I played, the settings and controls were set up the same as IV's settings(I know this, as before I put Xlivless in, the Radiostation button used to be the middle mouse wheel, now it is the R and , keys...also, the settings are the same as IV's now...This is true for the EFLC and IV(DVD release with NO Pathes)-Not sure about the Steam/D2D releases, as I don't have those versions... But it seems like EFLC is better optimized than IV is, as the game seems A LOT smoother, gets NO pop ins, has NO graphics corruption, etc. like IV does...also, the FPS is A LOT better too...at least on my set-up(and as you guys have seen, IV has great fps on here)... So, anyone who has worse performance either has an illegal game version OR they have mods/Trainers in use(which we all know uses more resources and thus can make the game run slower), OR they have not tried the game without any patches OR they have a slower PC that does not OR Barely meets the specs for the game....Just curious there.. COLWcF
Autoconfig won't help sh*t, my PC has hardware in it that either match or excel over recommended settings, and I've already tried running on ridiculously low settings just for sh*ts and giggles and it still lags. I have no mods in place in EFLC other than model replacements. As for your legality claim, the only kind of pirate I am is the one that makes swords out of paper towel tubes.
