ABK
I think it would be nice if the protagonist gets older because it is unlikely that kill the boss of different criminal gangs in just few years may be he could start 25 years old and can end at 50 and u can decide if marry u with someone or not (srry for bad english)
the nameless
Nah, GTA should be kept fast paced for me. The idea can work in some games - we see Ezio age by quite a bit in Assassins Creed - and even had a glimpse of him as an old(ish) man, but for me, GTA storylines should not span more than a year. Finn 7 five 11
Nah, GTA should be kept fast paced for me. Yeah i like the fast paced story, plus all the other characters would age as well, it would be cool, but at the same time it would suck because once you finished the story your character would be an elderly person, it isn't really the GTA style, if they wanted to change up the formula this would be a good way to do it. Mafia II has the character ageing doesn't it? Edited June 29, 2011 by finn4life
sonnyBlack
Would be pretty cool in a movie or maybe another game, but not for GTA imo. As the others have said, the fast paced story fits better in this series, and that's what I'd like to see it stick to.
lukb13
It depends on how many missions and how long in gamedays it would take to complete the storyline and get 100%. Intro cutscene with the protagonist aging is a high possibility, and would help us relate to the protagonist even more at the very start, sort of like what happens in San Andreas on the mission Big Smoke but visual. Kwandilibro
Not only would I not like it, but I don't understand how it would work with free roam. You'd have to merge two and a half decades, which would be... bizarre.
Algonquin Assassin
Not only would I not like it, but I don't understand how it would work with free roam. You'd have to merge two and a half decades, which would be... bizarre. Depends on what decade the game starts in. If it starts in the 70s and ends in the 90s you could slowly see things like cars, buildings etc change over time. Or just do what Driver: PL did and throw the protagonist in prison until he gets released years later. Personally I would prefer the first way. It's entirely possible. lukb13
The longest it takes anyone to complete current GTA games in gamedays ends up being 1 year, first runs only. An idea for making the protagonist being able to age would be having missions for girlfriends, missions for the cops, missions for doctors, etc. Weather for seasons would be a must. R* would have to combine all it's game creativity in the next GTA. The game would have no critics because of the timespan. GTA V would have a ton of content from good to bad to obscure to insane to mindboggling. The game rating would be an RP M. We would end up protecting R* and R* would give us whatever we want. There are negatives but the positives outweigh them.
AceRay
Or just do what Driver: PL did and throw the protagonist in prison until he gets released years later. Driver PL had that really interesting twist in the otherwise dull game. It was a really interesting idea and would have been fantastic if it was a better game. RDR spoilers In RDR, the game progresses 3 years at the end, but nothing really changes. I think it could work great imo, as long as it stays interesting and fast paced. _GTAFREAK_
In my opinion, the age effect on the game's protagonist its a COOL IMPROVEMENT but... i think it wouldn't be a necessary thing to see in a GTA. R* should focus on other realism matters like realistic explosions, and more realistic player physic reactions to things like gunshot wounds or other things... ya know! fgcarva1
here My Webpage i hope that worked, and welcome to the forums. that link goes to a dedicated topic btw. Yeah, but here he is asking if the protagonist should change overtime, while your Post asks if the protagonist should be old.
DrDean
You should start as a 20 year old kid, then by the end of the game you hijack cars in a wheelchair and often lose health from breaking your hip.
lukb13
20 is an adult. And there is no possibility of a 60 year storyline. 10-20 year storyline and 100% is a lot better, and doable.
tempz1992
i like the idea of Seeing visual change's as you get older but they would have to incoperate so much for it to be believeable, Not just wake up one day, Oh look im 30 year's older -_-
