Chaikovskyrules
Alright. I have GTA SA on Steam and just recently reinstalled it after about a year. When I run it, the intros run correctly, and then after the final intro I get a white screen for about five or six seconds, and then it goes to some sort of odd block form menu with no writing, just blocks. I can scroll through the menus, but have no idea what any of them are. I click on the top block, it seems like it begins to run the game, and then it crashes. Help? PS: The comp is the same as when I played the game before, no changes/updates.
lil weasel
PS: The comp is the same as when I played the game before, no changes/updates. Sometimes a computer will update a minor file without the user knowing. So..When uninstalling the game the GTA San Andreas File is usually left in the User Document File. If so the first step is to Delete the GTA_SA.set File.
Chaikovskyrules
As expected, you were right. I have deleted the old .set file. Same issue. Also: When it crashes it's giving me error code Oxc0000005 Edited June 28, 2011 by Chaikovskyrules
Spider-Vice
That's Access Violation error, try updating ALL your drivers and running as administrator, or reinstalling the game from Steam. Though that looks like a graphical corruption. Chaikovskyrules
This is what the main menu screen looks like.
lil weasel
That's a new one for me. Did you reinstall from the Web site or a backup? Are you playing the game in Vista/Win7 using W98 (or XP) compatibility mode, with Administrative Privileges? If you're on Vista, you'll need to do this: 1) Uninstall SA. 2) Delete the installation folder if it still exists. (e.g. C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas). 3) Delete the Virtual Store copy of the installation folder too. The Appdata folder might be hidden. (e.g. C:\Users\???\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas). 4) Delete the gta_sa.set file from your user files folder. 5) Reboot. 6) Reinstall SA. To Unhide Folders: START > User > Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Folder Options> Show Hidden files and Folders.
Chaikovskyrules
Alright, I'm running XP. Uninstalled from steam and reinstalled. Same issue. Must be a graphics card problem? Is there any fix at all?
