Due to be launched on August 26th for the Xbox360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation®3 platforms, the innovative and unique game will reflect in detail the incredible action and passion of Rugby’s showcase sporting event with the most accurate Rugby experience ever created. Developed by leading Rugby developer HB Studios, RUGBY WORLD CUP 2011 represents the studio’s first Rugby game on this generation of consoles and takes full advantage of the available hardware to create a game that reflects the prestige of the world’s third-largest sports event. The official game wont have New Zealand or Australia but teams similar. Been waiting for a long time to see a good Rugby game and now 2 are coming out! Sweet. cactus.
Interesting. Don't think I've ever played a rugby game before but they look great and it could be a great way to help me learn the rules! Although I think I have a respectable understanding of them for the time being. A rugby game without New Zealand would feel right, so I'll have to for Rugby Challenge when the time comes. Darrel
I have been following this game ever since it was announced. And have been wanting a a new rugby game since Rugby 2006!! I actually haven't searched about this game for 2 months, so this is awesome to see. First day buy!! Edited June 28, 2011 by Darrel
Banks.
This is very interesting. I haven't seen a Rugby game in years so I'm considering buying it but I will wait till it's cheap.
Mister Pink
Yeah I love the FIFA/PES games and I've been wanting a rugby game for ages now because I only briefly played my ex's nephew's rugby game in Italy on the PS2. He didn't like it and I enjoyed and he said take home but I forgot it, lol. After football the only other sport that my friends and I would mainly enjoy would be rugby and there's more and more people enjoying the game in my country seeing as Ireland has a half-decent team an Irish international and club rugby is doing quite well at the moment. So it's nice to have another competitive game to play 2 player that's not FIFA. At least if one game is crap, we have the other. It will be pretty much the first time we see proper rugby multiplayer for the masses. I'm thinking the graphics look great and so they should considering that we haven't seen what a rugby should look like in a few years. Josh
That's the problem I guess, licensing. Although to be honest as long as the teams are called Australia and New Zealand I can just edit the players' names individually during my obscene amount of free time. However my one concern is that they get the tackling and breakdown areas correct in terms of gameplay. Because the last rugby game which I played was sh*t in rucks and mauls. I'll have to look at the features first I guess but from the graphics Rugby Challenge looks much better. And I know that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover but I can't help it, especially with regards to sports games since I feel that realism is more important in that arena than in the FPS/RPG arenas. Finn 7 five 11
This looks good, but i am more excited for Rugby 2012 by HB studios published by EA, they will have all the proper licensing, since EA handles that very well, and hopefully it will be similar to my good ol' rugby 2005 game, which i just re-bought, in fact on ebay yesterday. Mister Pink
I'm not quite sure which game I'm getting yet. News, Rugby World Cup 2011: A Demo will be released on August 2nd for Xbox Live and August 3rd for PSN. You will be able to play as South Africa and England at Auckland. Also, the demo for RWC 11 comes out on August 2nd. I'm looking forward to it but I might go with Rugby Challenge. Leinster are confirmed to be in Rugby Challenge Also, just read that in Europe the game will be called Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge. Darrel
After watching that horrible trailer of RWC 2011, i will now 100% be getting Rugby challenge. Seriously it looks like HB studios have ported rugby 2006 to PS3 format and haven't even attempted updating animations or the AI. And the visuals dont look as good as challenge either. I was super impressed by the Rugby challenge trailer. Its pretty evident, HB studios only did this game to cash in on the world cup hype, without even bothering to change much. What a con. Remix
There are trailers for both games on youtube, by the way. Hopefully Rugby Challenge is released before Rugby World Cup, so more people are inclined to get it on a "rush buy". In all seriousness, Rugby Challenge looks really good. A lot better than other sport games out at the moment that's for sure. Can't wait for the demo!
Mister Pink
Oh man! Just seen the trailers there after you mentioned it Darrel. RWC looks atrocious. Rugby Challenge it is then. Glad I'm not in a predicament and it's an obvious choice. Really though, the guys making Rugby Challenge seem be be actually really passionate about this game and you can tell by the way it looks. Something tells me a lot of the developers would be surrounded by rugby all their lives being based in New Zealand and all that. HB are based in Canada. Do they even play rugby there? Mister Pink
Sorry for the bump/double post, but here's a new gameplay trailer for Rugby Challenge. Aslo, the demo for RWC is out now on Xbox Live. RUBBΣR░J♢HNNY (スオッ)
Banks.
I'll download it soon but Rugby challenge looks better.
Darrel
I have seen a lot of gameplay footage of Rugby challenge over at the Sidhe forum and it looks worlds apart from RWC2011 Played the demo of RWC and just as i expected it plays exactly like Rugby 06. Passing is magnetic, there is no sense of accomplishment because its exactly the same formula. There is no learning curve at all. All players basically either move like a forward or a back. Thats it for how well they actual resemble the players style. Its clunky, animations are average, and frankly its outdated by about 6 years. Plus there will not be any club teams, no create a player. So basically you are paying for a rugby 06/08 with less things to do. HB dont deserve any profit. And i never wish that on any game developer. Its evident they planned to make a cheap buck and cash in on the world cup hype by giving us the exact same game we played 6 years ago.
