jf123
Hey. I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium, and whenever I open up GTA SA it shuts down right after the splash page. I dont even get to see the New Game/Load Game page. I've searched the forum and couldn't find something that works. I've tried it in every computability mode and in each mode, using run as administrator on and off. Please help. lil weasel
Start with running it in W98 Mode with Admin Priv. Did you try to put Mods into the game before you ran it. Did you install the game by using the Original DVD? Which Version is it (1, 2, 3)?
jf123
I tried that at first and it didnt work. No Mods, I havent even gotten the game to work at all. Yes, original CD. I actually have two, both my friend got for me, but because the first one didnt work, she got me a second one which fails just like the first. I dont know what version, where can I find out? lil weasel
In what way do the DVDs "fail". What is the Edition number printed on the Disc(s)? What is your Systems Video Card? How much Video memory do you have? Is it shared?
jf123
It doesnt fail, it installs perfectly. But, when I open and run the program and get to the splash screen, the program crashes. 2nd edition I have an ATI Radeon HD 2400 (is that what your asking?). It says Approx. Total Memory: 1012 MB No its not shared Edited June 28, 2011 by jf123
Girish
Have you tried updating your video drivers? And make sure you close all running applications before you start the game, even your anti-virus. Turn off UAC from Control Panel so it doesn't interfere with the game.
jf123
No, I havent tried updating my video drivers. I'm using ATI Radeon HD 2400. Can you please direct me to where I'll be able to download the newest drivers? [edit] I found the following link, but which should i download? The second, the first, or both? http://support.amd.com/us/psearch/Pages/ps...words=&items=20 Edited June 28, 2011 by jf123
Girish
Download and install the first one.
radioman
I have an ATI Radeon HD 4200 (is that what your asking?).It says Approx. Total Memory: 1012 MB I'm using ATI Radeon HD 2400 Which Video card is it? At first you said you had an ATI 4200, and now you say 2400...? If it is the 4200, it IS Integrated and as such has Shared vram.. Yes, original CD. If you have the game on CD(Compact Disc), than that is a problem, and would signal an illegal game copy, as the game is on DVD(Digital Video Disc)-NOT CD(Compact Disc)...? Spider-Vice
Radioman, no offense to your help, you're an excellent helper but when people say CD it doesn't necessarily have to be a CD, the game disc is covered, without saying CD or DVD with the artwork, some people don't know the difference. It's plausible to ask if it's bought. Try updating your chipset drivers too GTANet | Red Dead Network | black lives matter | stop Asian hate | trans lives = human lives the beginning is moments ago, the end is moments away
jf123
I'm sorry, it is a DVD. I also updated the post, I have a ATI Radeon HD 2400 and NOT a 4200. Right now, I'm trying to install the first driver on that page. WHen I click on the first link, it takes me to this page: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/wind...Bit%20Edition#1 I'm downloading and installing the first one "Catalyst Software Suite", should I also download the second? Where can I update my chipset drivers? Thanks [edit] I downloaded the first one in the link above (in this post), and installed. GTA still quits right after the splash screen.
