YankeesPwnMets
I have Windows 7, and every time, unexpectingly, San Andreas just crashes. System specs: Intel Pentium E2200 @ 2.2 Ghz Intel Integrated Graphics Windows 7 Service Pack 1 2GB RAM This is the Steam edition, version 3.
lil weasel
Did the game ever run? Have you updated any System Files since it was installed? (First try Deleting the GTA_SA.set File, ONLY that file.)
YankeesPwnMets
Tried it, no dice. The game does launch, but it freezes at any point. It isn't like it freezes every 10 minutes, it can freeze after 5 minutes sometimes, it might not freeze at all other times, and it could freeze 20 minutes the third time. lil weasel
Have you checked the Operating Temperature of your PC? Were you doing anything specific when the freeze occurs? (like entering/leaving vehicle/building, shooting, etc.) Any Cheats?

Is the User Track Player thing an issue? I use it all the time. I just played and listened to WCTR instead and there were no issues. And no, I don't use cheats
lil weasel
Certainly might be the radio. Try playing a day or two without the Custom Tracks. By chance do you use a No-CD crack?

I have the Steam version (I have proof as well), so I don't need a no cd crack since Steam games don't use disks in the first place. Also, as far as I'm concerned version 3.00 is completely unmoddable...
lil weasel
Right you are it was habit. Does your system have an Afinity Setting, where you can select only processor '0' to run the game? http://solidlystated.com/software/how-to-disable-a-cpu-core/ Edited June 28, 2011 by lil weasel
Girish
Reinstall the game and delete the gta_sa.set file from the User Files folder. Run the game in Win 98 compatibility mode. Make sure you close all running applications before starting the game. Turn off UAC from Control Panel just to make sure it doesn't interfere with the game. Girsh, I've done all of those and the crashes haven't come back. However, I can't seem to run Steam games in compatibility mode. I've tried and when I launch the game, it just told me to turn off compatibility mode
Girish
If you're not facing any issues anymore, then compatibility mode is not needed. Just in case you do need it, from what I've heard, you need to run the Steam app in compatibility mode. You might want to double check that on the Steam forums, though. YankeesPwnMets
It seems like the issue is fixed, and I haven't used User track Player and theres no crashing. I also have a DVD copy of San Andreas v1 for mods and SAMP as well. Does that conflict with version 3 in any way?
Girish
Nah, there shouldn't be any conflict.
