Mak
Well i want to know what is the difference between a mod. ,admin & network admin ,things like what a admin can't do and a mod. can ?
Miro
Sure, let me try to make it clear. Moderators - The second most powerful group after the admins. They have power to delete, edit, ban, change member group and view almost all possible forums, excepting the admin forums. Network Admins - The people in this group have the same administration power on GTAForums, but they only take care of the GTA Network, not the forum. Still, they visit this forum. This is a brand new group. Forum Admins - Here are the ones who take care of GTAForums doing a little more than the moderators. They do ban, delete, edit, etc and also access all possible sub forums. Hope you understood now. Dead (Retired)
Josh
The difference between the network admins and the forum admins has already been made clear by miromiro. But the main reason why the groups were created was because of the fact that most of the network admins aren't very active on the forums and therefore while they retain admin permissions most of their work is in the coding of the sites that make up the network rather than the day to day running of the forums. That's why the Forum Admin group was created. So that the users know who to PM regarding forum issues and also so that the Network Admins have more time to devote to the making of forum additions (V2). Incidentally there was a group called the developers for a short time before they were taken over by the Network Admin group. I believe it comprised of fred, Suction Testicle Man, Tank and possibly Luke.
Andrew
A few months ago it was decided to restructure the staff groups to be reflect the work carried out by certain groups, which miromiro has hit the nail on the head.

fireguy109
Since the question has been answered, I don't think it's a big deal if I hijack this thread with my own Q. Is there any kind of impeachment process concerning mods/admins? If one was corrupt could he be kicked out? In that vein, is it possible for moderators to ban other moderators? And who's the most powerful one here? Tank? If he was corrupt could he be overthrown by for example illspirit? I highly doubt this would ever happen, but I was reading a book on Nixon before and I started to wonder.

Josh
From what I recall he was trolling the rockstar social club and they tied it to his account here. Bad publicity for the forum if your mod badmouths the game creators, who ultimately keep the forum running with their game releases, so they decided that he had to go. I might be slightly wrong but that is the story as I was told by Ryan.

fireguy109
Is there any kind of impeachment process concerning mods/admins? If one was corrupt could he be kicked out? You must not be familiar with Demarest. Well, I am familiar with most details of the incident. I know illspirit is the one who finally kicked him out. The question was, and somebody said this happened (Dem temp-banned a mod), could he have banned all the other mods when he hadn't been removed yet? Chargr
Also, what powers does a mod have that an admin doesn't?. Sam998
Sorry I didn't mean to ask about mods having more power, that was an accident, but it seems the only power admins have that mods don't is another forum? Because mods can ban, edit and delete too
Girish
Admins have access to the Admin CP to make changes to the forums/network. Moreover, they can unban people which moderators can't.

They can just unban themselves. So in answer to your question, no he couldn't have done that.

The question was, and somebody said this happened (Dem temp-banned a mod), could he have banned all the other mods when he hadn't been removed yet? I thought it was something to do with child porn? False. It was abuse of power, backstabbing the staff, banning (hundreds of?) innocent members, and hitting on a girl named peachy. The porn thing is just a rumor, since he (apparently?) asked peachy for cybersex in exchange for karma stars. Note that I wasn't here around this time. I learned all this by browsing old topics. Most of this comes out of the mouths of past or current mods/staff. And Josh, thanks.
Josh
He was on probation for something in real life. He told illy but swore him to secrecy. It is speculated that this had something to do with underage girls.
fireguy109
Well he was arrested for carrying a firearm (he shouldn't have been-he had all the permits and stuff). But wait a minute. Girish
Yup, mods can temp ban. But I'm not sure if we can reduce the duration of the temp. I have never needed to do it so I don't know.

So basically a mod can't ban another mod, right? Has one ever tried?
