lil weasel
I hope you don't think that higher Resolution will make the polygons look better. It won't. The wheels will still look like a bunh of straight lines rather than a nice circle. 1280x xxxx x32 is plenty good enough.
McGTA4
Your Monitor's Resolution isn't High enough to reach that kind of resolution seeing that you could only reach 1680x1050x32.. My opinion is get an HD PC Monitor my monitor 24" 1920x1080

Silent
Weird, I can even have 2???x??? resolution on my SA 1.0. With Steam you're pretty screwed, but if you REALLY want to have high resolution, download 1.0 from the internet. It isn't illegal if you own original Steam copy. 1.0 lets you to install Display Settings Extender plugin, which should solve your problem. Yes, it's very much illegal to recommend downloading pirated copies of the game. Version 1 is no longer available for a very good reason and I don't appreciate you recommending people to download it off the internet. Don't do it again. Silent
Okay, but if user owns original copy, he can download a backup. I think that game version doesn't matter, he can use downgrader anyway. From the modder side of view, it's better to download a 1.0 than downgrade 2.0.
Girish
Aren't you aware why v1 was replaced with v2? Under all circumstances, recommending someone to download pirated copies is a strict no-no. If you own the game and want to have a backup, create it from your own game.
Zera
So, version 3.0 of SA is really version 1.0 minus the modding capabilities? IIRC, patch 1.01 added HD resolutions support. Anyways, try looking on Google on how to "downgrade" to 1.0, then download this mod: http://hotmist.ddo.jp/plugin/exdisp/exdisp.asi Place it on the same folder as your SA executable (you need ASI loader as well for it to work). It will let you select any resolution supported by your monitor (it works for me, so I can confirm it). The reason why you should downgrade is because I'm not sure if this mod will work on the 3.0 exe (it doesn't work on 1.01). This is pretty much the only option you have if you want to play in HD resolutions.
lil weasel
Version 3.0 the Downloadable Legal version of the Game cannot be downgraded. It was desigined to Not be Moddable.
Zera
That sucks. I don't understand the need to screw the modders like that when the Hot Coffee fiasco was entirely Rockstar's fault. Quite the opposite, actually. They should be thanking the modders for fixing their lazy PC port of SA. They basically gave the finger to their PC costumers. Sunrise Driver
Is GamersGate's GTASA also 3.0? That sucks. Yeah especially when modiing is still a major feature of PC version on official site: http://www.rockstargames.com/sanandreas/pc/ Player modifications support Edited July 1, 2011 by Street Mix
