Prometheus
I agree about Mafia II, right there is no free ride, and the storyline is kinda short, but it is one of the best storylines I've seen. The graphics is very good, the cinematics makes you feel that it's real, and the soundtrack, exceptional.
*MURDOC*
Oh yeah driv3rI remember buying this to wait for GTA San Andreas. Fun game to screw around with, physics were funny (cars would randomly spin uncontrollably in the air forever), graphics were ahead of its time (though pc graphics were worse than ps2, amazingly), story was ok, secrets were amazing (the golf cart, you could also race someone on the track) The only thing is they pushed the release date of this so atari couldnt get everything in (like a lot of more vehicles, Driver 3 was changed to Driv3r, quality was crapped, and ETC) Still an amazing game to me It's not a golf cart, it is a go kart man. There is a Tommy vermicelli there. It's Timmy Vermicelli, not Tommy man. I'm going to go with "Steep Slope Sliders" on the Sega Saturn. The best snowboarding game of its time in my opinion, beats the sh*t out of Cool Boarders, that's for sure.

Jake
The Saboteur. This game was a lot of fun. I love WW2 related games. So combining that with a free roam GTA style sandbox game in 1940's Europe with mostly Paris, and sabotaging Nazis...win/win. It was cool to see the Nazi invasion/occupation build throughout. The artistic design was awesome, with a Sin City feel of colors if the Nazis were occupying an area. And it was always fun using explosives to destroy their strongholds. freak2121
The original Need For Speed, Porsche 2000, Mirrors Edge, Saboteur and The Neverhood. The Neverhood was a pretty damn good game, and I don't think another game has been made out of stop motion claymations.

cactus.
I've always thought ToeJam & Earl was greatly under appreciated. For its time, in a way, it kinda set the mood for an open-world game (at least from my gaming experience), where the levels were almost seamlessly woven together, the main objective was often seen as peripheral, and topped off with some fun and hilarious gameplay. That game was very swing and a miss for me. It could have been a lot better imo and while fun, it got old very quick. That's my opinion though. darthYENIK
People calling mainstream games underappreciated make me laugh. Especially the post with Mafia 2, Driv3r and Mirrors Edge, and the one with Silent Hill. The one with Mirrors Edge is especially funny, because besides everyone knowing it, it f*cking sucks and therefore is overappreciated if even one person likes it. Also Vanzant my friend! I have Rock 'n' Roll racing on my SNES, it's f*cking awesome! Biker Mice from Mars aswell. Holy sh*t, yes. It's like Mario cart, but with Biker Mice. tubbs51
Pirates of the Caribbean game for me (the original). It's not actually based on the film, but it was an amazing pirate RPG I have to say so. definitely worth a check out. I agree... I love that game... when i got rid of my original xbox and got a 360 the main factor was backwards compatibility... little did i know the first Pirates of the Caribbean game would not be BC I still wish they would make it Backwards compatible.. Raptomex
Rampage 2: Universal Tour - better than World Tour. Twisted Metal III - like TM2, it's equally as great in my opinion. Wolfenstein (2009) - very fun and very underrated. The Saboteur - I really don't know how underappreciated it is but it's a great game that deserved more hype. Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix - the random level generator is really underrated here. Many games should implement this. Manhunt can really benefit from this giving it a ton of replayability. It would be so cool. Shadow Warrior - like Duke Nukem 3D, it's action packed and hilarious. Urban Chaos: Riot Response - fantastic game with some excellent action sequences. How the f*ck does it make difference if it's mainstream or not? None of those games were that well-appreciated, so I have no f*cking idea what the hell you're on about. I found all Mafia 2, Driver 3, Mirror's Edge and Silent Hill 4 enjoyable games, and so did many other people.

Menaced
The Ratchet and Clank series, without a doubt. I've been a fan of the series since the first game on the PlayStation 2. Even though I prefer the old original R&C games, the "Future" series of games are great games in their own respect. I love the characters, the puzzles, the platforming and the fun gunplay. Definitely a series worthy of more attention.

I think that game was pretty well-appreciated actually. Great game though. true, well appreciated by those who played it, but not many people got to play it, it was one of those games, casual gamers as myself would over-look as being some sort of weird japanese sh*t, but it was truely one of favourite games of all time. I also second, Timesplitters 2, spent way too many hours playing that.

I love that game so much! Its like GTA with boats. I think I made around 10 million bucks by stealing boats and then selling them for huge profits. Thats where the real money is! It really did a fantastic job with the cartoon graphics, and the fun physics in that game were awesome, i really hope they make another game similar/the same as that. Mainland Marauder
Redneck Rampage. Ahh, good times, good times. Good call. We rarely see an old series being brought back without the new game sucking, so I don't know if I'd like to see a new Redneck Rampage or not. Maybe something that combined its themes with GTA, open sandbox style out in the boonies... Speaking of old series being brought back - I haven't tried it (my XBox died, and right before LA Noire came out ) but it sounds like Duke Nukem Forever is a dud. Makes me think though of Duke Nukem: Time To Kill for the PS1. Everyone seemed to hate it, because it wasn't a FPS but something more resembling Tomb Raider in gameplay. I thought it was awesome, and really it was about as close to the modern GTA-style 3D freeroam experience as the hardware of the day could give you. Andyzoot
I really like 'Second Sight' upon it's release. It came out about 6 years ago and follows the story of a man who is given psychic abilities such as telekinesis and projection. The game tries to encourage a stealthy approach to levels which I think may have put some people off compared to Psi-Ops which was released around the same time which encouraged you to cause as much destruction as possible. It was made by Free Radical (who made Timesplitters which seems to be getting a lot of love in here) and featured similar art style to Timesplitters. It featured an interesting story and had a really neat twist at the end. Good stuff. Ridd
