Should we be able to start businesses?

What I mean by business is, nothing too Simish or anything but revolving around the story in someway. Drugs, assassination, car theft/trading, maybe even a few nightclubs scattered all over the city/country. Also, having this business feature in the game would add a lot of side missions. Like, "collecting" cars, nicking drugs, robbing banks, smuggling people all over the city for money. I hope that it explains everything now. So...take the poll and share your answers with the community. Thanks guys. cool.gif

Definitely, well, IMO V should allow you to do this. As players interact with various mobs/gangs etc. they should be able to participate in the business activities, which are the main source of income for those mobs.

Yes, It would be good to Create and maybe even develop the buissness further just another element to making money, ASLONG as it take's Resonable time to get a good amount of money to buy things, on the second island on GTA IV i had like 500k it was silly, but maybe buy a buissness for nothing almost and turn it into something that can make you millions in a week's Game time Would be amazingly cool

Yeh I like the idea of actually having some kind of criminal empire. That would need an actual criminal though, not some guy who does bad things but for the right reasons like cj and niko.

Some of my fondest memories are from Vice City driving from place to place to pick up the money. In San Andreas it was a nice source of income. I liked the ideas from Vice City Stories too, the fact that you could choose which business to set up and upgrade it.

I think more needs to be put in though, I'd like the opportunity to buy vacant lots and set up businesses there, buying businesses that are already going and upgrading them or stopping them to set up a new one on that lot. I'd like more types of business so that you could choose the correct type of business for the location, maybe a new car garage in a high end part of town, or a take-away in the poorer parts of town. Also the option to sell a business would be good, to make a nice one off profit. The longer the game plays out for the better or worse a business becomes it should raise/lower the price.

There could be other perks of having businesses as well as cash, like having somewhere to dispose of the people you kill at the take-away, owning a new car showroom gets you money off new cars, owning a pay and spray gives you free car repairs, owning a used car garage gives you somewhere to sell all the stolen cars, owning a petrol station could give you free petrol and Molotov cocktails, owning a dock/airstrip/haulage firm could let you import/export drugs, used furniture dealer could help you offload stolen goods, owning an ammunation could give you free weapons, owning an estate agents makes house/business buying cheaper and many many other really useful perks that would give players more to do on top of the usual and normal businesses which only give you money.

The businesses should have an upgrade level system where if you buy an upgrade it takes the business time to level up to its new maximum level, this way they could add the ability to complete jobs for the businesses like take-away delivering, driving boats/planes/trucks, delivering goods, having a DJ van to promote record shop and other things to increase how fast the business would level up.

One feature that I didn't like was having to fight against rival gangs to keep your businesses, it seemed to happen to me once every 2/3 missions and I soon got tired of it. I would prefer it to happen much less often but also if the business is legal for them to call the police like if they were being robbed, if it isn't legal then the ability to at least get gang members to look after it... and failing that allow the player to hire protection, maybe buying a security business would get free protection too...

I think businesses should take a lot of money to set up and upgrade, the idea that if you put money in with no effort it will get to top level but take longer, if you put money in and do jobs for it then it will be much faster. In the end, its all about making money, and weather you choose to do it through a record shop (low risk, low profit) or a drug cultivation business (high risk - police/other gang raids, high profit) would be up to the player.

I liked the system in VCS. They could redo something like this, and add onto it.

I would love the feature of purchasing businesses, there is so much fun doing that in Vice city but they could put a ton more diversity into it such as adding many businesses and ability to convert them into money laundering/ fronts. Having upgradable options like an example having purchased a low drug lab, then upgrading it several times to produce a number of things Better quality meth, Cleaner work place, more professional looking to increase profits, or just legitmate businesses

This would be great, as long as there is a laaaaaaaarge amount of stuff in the game that is buy-able, so you wouldn't have several millions from all the businesses burning in the pocket with virtually nothing to spend on (especially if the traditional Ammu-Nations and Pay'n Sprays gave free weapons/repair). Basically, the idea reminds me of Godfather II, however, it can always be expanded.

And to be honest... GF2 didn't have that realistic business running (get all the businesses of a specific type to get body armor, then one of them gets bombed and BANG! There goes your and your made men's armor in a flash from your chests!). Definitely better can be achieved by focusing on the idea a lot.

^ Good idea. But overall, we should start and take over businesses.

This.

While the ability to start businesses would be nice, we should be able to move through the city, swallowing up other businesses, either by purchasing them, or by less than legal means.

The ultimate reward for all your efforts should be absolute, utter domination of the city and everyone and everything in it. No matter how many millions you're making there should always be something just out of your reach, like a hundred million dollar penthouse or an entire ethnic group's tribal leadership.
