It will be a full retail release and is scheduled to release Fall 2011 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Like Dead Rising 2, the game is set in Fortune City, and will include a new area that is "not a casino and not a mall." This new area is called Uranus Zone and is a childrens theme park area. The entire game is a "What If?" scenario where Frank West covered the Fortune City outbreak, instead of Chuck Greene. Frank is set to be the first player in Co-op and Chuck is set to be the second player in Co-op. Being a huge Dead Rising fan, I can't freakin wait for this! Slamman Posted August 2, 2011 Share Posted August 2, 2011 It's sad if you ask me, DR was one of the BIGGEST games on Xbox 360, it really showed off what that Gen hardware could do, and I watched my friend play it plenty of times before getting my own copy, but it almost seems like the WOW factor has gone flat. That the time it's taken to bring back more of the same missed the boat....somewhat. There are plenty of Zombies now, in videogaming, but I tend to think the most fun was having this game on with a group of people in the room, rather then playing it by yourself. Freakorama Posted October 14, 2011 Share Posted October 14, 2011 It was released two days ago and so far i've racked up 14 hours, 9 hours one sitting and 5 the second, I find it hard to stop playing once I start. They finally made Dead Rising 2 into a good game, Frank West IS Dead Rising. Chuck can go lick my unwiped crusty arsehole and I sure hope they get rid of chuck forever. Yes, he turned on to be a rich guy after that but he lost it all after a couple of years which is why he looks like a fat hobo now. Still on the fence on purchasing this. From I modified it into: Frank makes the entire thing worth it. I don't even care about all the parts that are the same as DR2, I hadn't even played Dead Rising 2 enough for Off The Record to be too familiar. I'm just so glad Chuck's gone. Chuck is a psychopath, f*ck me! I've rented the game when it came out last Tuesday and have been playing halfway through the game right now. As far as the game goes, I can tell you that it's not EXACTLY the same as DR2. There has been some noticeable changes in gameplay. For one, there is a larger density of zombies in the game and they're a little more aggressive even in the daytime. Zombrex, magazine, and survivor locations have been mixed around as well. As far as Story Mode goes, it's largely the same with a lot of tweaks in dialogue and a few surprise twists. Sandbox mode adds in more replay value to the game. It's essentially Infinity Mode without the constant need to replenish health. The challenges are fun and any PP and money earned from Sandbox Mode can be used in Story Mode and vice versa. Overall, fun game and definitely worth playing if you enjoyed the Dead Rising series. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

A lot of fun to get back behind the wheel of Frank. Funnily enough, I didn't spend that much time in Uranus Zone. Not sure why. The addition of Sandbox Mode is fully welcomed, though in a way, I wish they included the Infinity Mode from the 1st Dead Rising, for the added challenge. I'm going to go ahead and say (on the record, hurr hurr) that I much prefer the ending of Off The Record (The full, best, Overtime Ending) than the ending of DR2. Mainly because: -Stacey turns out to be the Phenotrans bitch -Sullivan goes out like a true bamf -Rebecca survives, she and Frank go off into the sunset to "cover each others' wars" Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Dead Rising 2...but if I was given the choice to choose which game was canon, I'd go for Off The Record. Nobody likes making pictures and Chuck was really good in Case Zero IMHO. Anyway, if you're fan of Dead Rising 2, you still should play OTR. Gon' say somethin' real controversial here. Why, it's so controversial, I'm putting it in a spoiler tag. I like Chuck I mean, at first I was like "What!? Dead Rising 2 but WITHOUT Frank? This cannot be!" Then the previews started rolling in...then came Case Zero. And I gradually came to like the guy! I found his stoicism fitting for a guy living in a post-Willamette America, his devotion to his daughter admirable, and his combo weapons and one-liners rather funny. This is either me enjoying how he was portrayed, or me just being a hopeless sap. I really like both him and Frank as Dead Rising protagonists. Hell, the way they play off each other in Case West was great fun to watch. I like to think that for DR3, they'd either have 2 separate campaigns for both Chuck and Frank, or maybe 1 big campaign shared between the two. (End of Off The Record Spoilers) I'd still prefer Off The Record to be canon. At least Rebecca can continue her ass-shaking lock-picking antics with her hero!
