Small things you do to save money

I make my own cigarettes(I dedicated a topic to this once) that are exactly the same as store bought with filters and all.  Around here store bought cost over $6 a pack.  My 'better than store bough' home made ones cost about 30cents a pack.  A very noticeable savings when you smoke about a pack a day colgate.gif

This pic is only a few seconds old

Can you please link me to this topic? Me and my friends would LOVE this man!!! If those self made cigs are good we shall worship you forever.

Here ya go

If you smoke - I can't recommend this enough to save money. Not only are they the same as store bought, but you can tailor them to however you like.

While everyone around me was bragging about their new mini iphone gadgetemything I simply started holding my regular sized one further away. smile.gif

I have a Sci phone, it looks like an iphone, but it was only £40. And it has 2 sim cards.

Put it in an envelope and forget about it.

I'll put you in an envelope in a minute.

Buy 40oz's dude. That's how you save man. Get you some Private Stock and a pad dude. Gotta open your heart and let the stock flow through the veins. I tell you, some days when I got the stock, life is great. One time I got some stock and we were driving threoguh the city and we saw some dudes with some stock. Great socializing tool.

I spend all my money on drugs.

Yeah, because that's a great way to save money.

Shoplifting! biggrin.gif

You must think you're a f*cking badass do you?

Spotted other couple of stealing posts. Seriously, stealing is not cool.

You must think you're a f*cking righteous man do you?

Seriously, it works for me, so if you ask me, it's as cool as Jay-Z at the 2007 VMAs.

-Cut my own hair, and my wife's hair too.

-Walk or take public transit everywhere. My car was new in 1998 and still has under 35k miles on it. My current motorcycle is the least efficient I've ever had and it still gets about 55MPG.

-Grow some of my own fruits, vegetables, and greens.

-Use almost no electric lights when it is dark. We make and use lots of candles.

-No fast food. We prepare [almost] all of our meals.

-I've pretty much been living in the same wardrobe for 20yrs now, so I save a ton on clothes.

-Hire ex-cons as contractors. I kid you not. Currently saving about 20k on some work thanks to using ex-cons. Did the same a few years ago when I had my house painted and saved about 10k that time.

-I use cheap ass plastic disposable painting tarps to winterize my windows in the winter.

-In the winter my thermostat is sat to 58f max, and we just use blankets and clothes to stay warm. It is a fancy thermostat, so during sleeping hours the max is 48f.

-Go to bars where I know the bartender(s) Shifty41s_beerhatsmilie2.gif

-Don't subscribe to any fancy cable channels like HBO and the like.

The list goes on...

>Buy games and movies off of eBay, complete/watch them and sell them again, because this is done in a quick amount of time It's basically free rental because you get the same money back.

>Make meals from scratch.

>Find left over ingredients, google them and find out what you can make, failing that slap 'em in an omelet.

>A mate of mine works at a supermarket, so shop with his store card for discount, and get loads of "damaged" food for free, because they would throw it out anyway, legally they can't sell something that's been defrosted and can't be re-frozen etc

>Put money into a high interest account and transfer what I need each day into my main debit card account.

Buy newly released games some other time. I always wait a few months to buy a game. There's always someone selling at a cheaper price. Sure it's tempting but it's worth the wait. I'm currently doing that right now with LA Noire.

leik oh em jeez!

@mrpain: That doesn't always work. Last time I checked, used copies of Halo Reach were still $55. f*cking ridiculous how long it's been out without a price drop.

Funny you should mention Halo. For some reason, people charged me Halo 3, ODST and Reach at like $50+.

Damn shame really, I haven't bought Reach and is dying to play it.

That's a very good list Trip!

I really have no money management skills these days. I spend about 80% of my income on my car and other bills (electricity, gas, insurance, cable, internet, food, gym membership, etc..), and usually waste the rest on pointless things like going out for supper with my girlfriend, movies and other things. With the economy the way it is, it's hard to save any money unless you have a really good paying job.

It's a great game with an addictive multiplayer.

I ended up getting it from a small used game shop for $45. Still over priced, but better than the $60 new/$55 used GameStop is trying to get for it.

I haven't flushed my toilet in like 4 days.... i abide by the "if its yellow, let it mellow" rule, but i just dropped an ocean liner in there yesterday and the smell is horrifying. I usually wait a week between flushes to save $$$

Pretty dope... and those shrooms were tight as f*ck.

Yeah, I think the phrase has been lost in translation with you, it's 'If it's yellow let it mellow if it's brown flush it down' I think the part you need is the brown part.

I have piss poor money management skills too - hence my needed list of scrimping. That is why I try and save where I can. That way I can spend money on stupid stuff. I buy lots of stupid stuff, and I like to think I'm the sensible one - You should see the stupid ways my lady spends money.

It tends to smell like rotting onions after a few days. Especially in the hot Summer.

Buck Fitches

I don't pay taxes.... Kidding of course

- I only get take out/go out for food every other Friday or so.

- I only get 3 new games per year, everything else is used or rented.

- Buy knock off cereal brands

- Since I live in a loft downtown I try to walk or use public transportation when I can. Gas is too damn high.

- I always save my quarters, over the years I've managed to get one of each 50 states by doing this.

- I don't take too many vacations.

- I'm also part of a nudist colony.

The only really spending I should cut back on is I go too a lot of Seattle Sounders football/soccer matches with my girlfriend and a few friends.

Well I flushed that batch but i have a new one stewing in there and it smells like curried dog sh*t right now. Ugh, I seriously think the wallpaper might start peeling in my bathroom.

Brew my own beer

I do the same. My problem is I can't meet my own demand, so I am forced to supplement with store bought.

We should trade a few bottles sometime. I make a mean IPA and a decent amber lager. Thanks to the heat, I can't really brew this time of year - we will have to wait a few months biggrin.gif

I am another one who makes beer at home. About 45 pints for less than 20 eurodollars. Cant argue with that.

I recently started my own vegetable garden. Have yet to see any benefits, but I am pretty hopeful.

Do my own car maintenance (90%)

I drive smaller back roads home to avoid tolls.

Started transfering old vinyl onto computer so I dont have to re-buy records.

Supervise the wife when she is shopping, you wouldn't believe the amount of crap she wastes money on.
