1. Is there any limit for the amount of info that can be added in a post? Like wordlimit, pictures etc. I am soon going to write a story and I would like to know how much a single post can hold. What I used to do at first was to 'reserve' the first few posts. So I just wanted to know if we can put unlimited info in a single post so as to avoid the 'reserved' posts.

2. Is there any way I can know the size [in kb, not the dimensions] of my signature? I wanted to add something to my signature but I do not know if the size is less that 80kb.

Thanks in advance.

1. The character limit is huge, over 100,000 characters, so you shouldn't worry at all about that. The image limit is 15.

2. Yes, the KB limit for your signature is only 80. This includes text as well. And the size limits are 500x150.

But how can I check the size of my signature?

As far as I know, you can't check your signature length in KB, only in characters by pressing the "Check Length" key under the white signature codes window. I might be wrong thought about the KB size, but I didn't see anything for it.

For kb size of images you should just right click on them and check. Then you can add them up to get your total signature size. And for words it is probably safe to assume that you can take one byte per character. So you'd probably overshoot the limits for size before you actually used more than one kb worth of ASCII characters.

And as for the post limit, it's way more than 100,000 characters. To test that out I just made a post with over 520,000 characters. And the limit for images is 15, as miromiro said. That doesn't include emoticons, there is a separate limit for them, which is 20.

To avoid creating a new topic, I'll just ask my question here while there is some activity:

When a post is reported for the first time, the person is able to write up a report, right? But afterwards, when someone else reports the same post, are they also able to write a report instead of just seeing the quick "This post has already been reported. Thank You. Yada yada yada" message before being redirected back to the thread? or is that impossible?

Only a staff member can answer that, really.

But, while we're at this subject, it happened a bunch of times to me. Usually I report and am able to type the reason of the report. But, other times I just click on the report button and it just skips the reason typing part. Never thought why that keeps on happening, but your idea might be true.

Still, I think they do receive a notification about each report even if it's about the same thing.

I think it's been done so staff won't get flooded with reports, I think their report system is some sophisticated thing that divides reports in forums and all tounge.gif

Once a post has been reported once, anyone else who tries to report it will get the message saying "Thank you. This post has already been reported". No matter how many times people click the report post button for the same post, we'll only ever get one report which is the original report for that post.

I suppose it makes sense that only the initial reporter is able to file a report, so that staff does not become swamped with written reports. However, I do see a flaw, in that the initial report may have been submitted rather lazily without much description, while others may wish to explain why, but are unable to do so.

I'm asking because I tried to report a particular topic as being a duplicated one and I'd planned on citing a few other topics to prove it. But it turns out that it was previously reported, so I can only hope the initial report did it justice.

We generally don't miss any reports, but if you think a particular topic/issue hasn't been dealt with in an appropriate manner (even though someone has already reported it), you can report the second post in that topic giving a detailed description of your reason. As a rule of thumb, wait at least 24 hours before reporting the same topic again.

We don't need multiple reports for the same topic, all that ends up doing its creating far more work for us. As every report is a single entry. One report and we'll investigate it.

Alternatively, if you see one of us online and you don't reckon the report has been dealt with in a timely manner, throw us a PM if you fancy. Worst we can say is sod off tounge.gif

About reporting...At one point I needed some of my Gang Topics title changed, and GTArv (a great mod btw) told me to just report them in the future and say they needed their topic title changed, but since some topics get reported for whatever reason I never get a chance to say "Change the topic title" it just seems to refresh the page or something...

So I see some downsides to the system..I guess just report other posts in the topic though.

Just a little hijack of the topic here, but since we're on the subject of reporting posts, is there any way, like a small mod/edit of the script, to make it so that we can see that the report has been dealt with? I know changing the "Report Post" to say "Report Dealt With" at the bottom of the post woud be impossible, but how about some text appears within the reported post, like what happens when you edit a post? I hope someone gets what I'm on about.

It isn't really needed, since 9 times out of ten, the mod/admin will normally edit the post, post a locked message or just bin the topic entirely.

If that happens do as above, PM an active moderator.

Not in an offensive tone, but as a genuine question, do all reports get personally checked out? I'm not sure how many reports are received on a daily basis, so not sure if some would get overseen.

Almost every single report is dealt with. Just because you don't see anything happening doesn't mean that the report was ignored. It probably means that we didn't the deem the report worthy enough to take any action or an action was taken that is not visible to the normal user.
