Vince_ThePhoenix
Hello there, I have recently changed the password of my email address but stupidly forgotten to save it somewhere. And I have also forgotten the security answer too... The only solution left is the alternate email but the problem is that I know only part of its name, I don't remember what character comes last. Is there any way to get the full name of that email address if I know its password and know part of its name? A search engine can help me retrace the full email if I enter part of it? uNi
Depending on the service you're using, you can try contacting their support to provide info on the account.
Vince_ThePhoenix
It is hotmail service. Is there another solution without contacting them? If I am able to trace the alternate email(which I know part of the name) I will be getting back the forgotten password.
uNi
Well, you could try any forums/sites you registered with that old e-mail.
GTArv
You could also try googling your email address if you've posted it publicly somewhere. If you use that account on MSN messenger, you can find your address from people you chat with; they can simply check their buddies list. Another option is to create a new live address, or get someone with a live ID, to do a search on http://profile.live.com for your name/email. This will work only if your live profile is public. Vince_ThePhoenix
In fact I never used the alternate email and it's the only solution atm. For the profile search, it is searching by name only but I am searching by the email address name. It starts with [email protected] & after the "o" there should be a last character which I cannot remember. I tried digits and nothing worked. d00d
Well if you want to avoid all other roads and you know the password then you could try every character. I know someone will say its a stupid idea but think about it - assuming its a letter, within 26 tries you will definitely have a login. If a number, then 36. IMO, its better than spending hours running rings around yourself. It'll take 30 minutes, tops. And because you're not logging into the same e-mail address you won't be blocked for several attempts. Good idea, to narrow it down, you could e-mail all of those combinations and see which actually exist.
