halfred
I recently was asked to update LIVE by GTA IV for PC or it wouldn't be able to save games etc. I did so any ever since it has been incredibly slow, lagging, and jumpy - Have other had the same problem? Spider-Vice
Games for Windows Live is somewhat buggy, try reinstalling LIVE but manually from Microsoft, here. And I assume you have the latest 1.0.7.0 patch, right? let your hopes and dreams turn into burning fire! halfred
When I click on that link it just let's me sign in, so presumably it is already downloaded and up-to-date? I have already uninstalled and re installed everything, and that has not helped either
Spider-Vice
What are your system specs? Might be something weaker in your hardware that's not handling GTA IV well anymore. Also try the latest drivers. Did you uninstall GFWL also when you reinstalled "everything"? let your hopes and dreams turn into burning fire! halfred
All drivers etc are updated including the graphics card. The system is more than capable. Yes I uninstalled "everything". It is definitely the Windows LIVE issue - I would get rid of it, but the pathetic people who design these games seem to think you have to link up with everyone all the time! Some of us just want to play the game
Spider-Vice
Actually, this is modding but, if you don't care about LIVE or Multiplayer, you could use xliveless. let your hopes and dreams turn into burning fire! mkey82
If in doubt, you should have this one installed. http://www.rockstargames.com/support/IV/PC/GFWLupdate/ How did you manage to play prior to the update? How long has it passed since you played GTAIV the last time without any problems?
halfred
GTA used to play fine before it insisted on having an update from LIVE. It worked fine yesterday when I first reinstalled it, then when I couldn't save and had to install LIVE was where the problem began. I have uninstalled it and re installed it from your link, but the problem persists.
Girish
Try deleting all files from the Settings folder. Windows XP SP3 - C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\Settings Windows Vista - C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\Settings Windows 7 - C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\Settings Have you tried Xliveless? mkey82
Probably what's causing problems for you is patch 7, which wasn't installed prior to update. Remove gfwl, reinstall the game and use xliveless.
