ska
I have to admit that all of this realism crap is getting on my nerves. Personally, I don't want some huge game that was designed to look realistic and amazing. I want a game that's entertaining to play, has a decent story, but still have levels of replayability. I rarely ever see that with new games, take GTA IV for example. That, and the annoying-ass multiplayer community tends to ruin it for me. Seems ever since XBL and PSN have come around, nothing has had the same feeling.
MC.
Hmm, this reminds me of that South Park season finale where it was Stan's birthday and everything to him became sh*tty.
Barry Spock
question is, if some of you guys are playing much less, what are you doing instead? I am playing a lot these days but I'm still fairly new to gaming. But interest in things comes and goes quickly for me. I just started using the free month of PS+ last night, got Burnout Paradise -- something I'd probably never buy, but it's kind of fun.
Jake
With less games in my free time I've been reading more about whatever I feel like which makes me learn more. I've been doing more artistic creative work again. I'm getting more into learning music also. I've been exercising in different forms. And I do paranormal investigating. And I come on this website a couple times a day, usually on my days off like right now. Otherwise, not as much.

Tashan
The current state of the gaming industry is contributing to my lack of interest in gaming as well, thought I'd point that out as well. very true.. scale of technology is not the measure of good games but use of good premise and balance of good ideas with players expectations is important that keeps the interest in the long run. E.g. Freedom Fighters v/s Prototype.
Mister Pink
Quite the opposite for me. Gaming is my escape just now. Be it playing games like L.A. Noire and Red Faction Armageddon by myself, or Red River and Bad Company 2 with friends, it's a great way to briefly forget about real life. Or escape for a long time, depending on the game....' Same here, man. It's a great form of escapism for me. It's no coincidence I love film & music maybe more so than a lot of my friends/people I know. KilnerLUFC
One game I will never get tired of playing is Rollercoaster Tycoon. Made waaaay back in the 90s yet still net got tired of it. That's the only game that gets me playing on the PC. Man, when I first bought RCT2 not so long ago, I got instantly hooked on it. It reminded me of Theme Park, which was a great game I used to spend hours playing on back in the PS1 days. Then I picked up RCT3, and I just didn't leave my PC at all for days on end. Then I found sites with mods on... I love games like that though, and I think it's games like this that keep me entertained the longest. You're the creator within the game, and your decisions effect absolutely everything, making the experience unique for everyone. Generic games that just go from A to B are the ones that I can't find myself playing for hours on end, simply because I know I'm been forced to do this or that. Out of the GTA series, that's why I liked SA so much, due to you been able to customise CJ into your own character, and however small it was, your actions still had consequences. There aren't that many games out there that allow you to create your own path and whatnot, and those that do only usually have two story-lines; the good one or the bad one. So to sum it up, I believe there should be more games that actually allow us to choose the path that the game takes, with each action we make having it's own consequence. Yes, I know it would still be scripted, but surely it's laziness when they only give us a "evil/good route".
mrpain
Yeap, Rollercoaster Tycoon was the f*cking sh*t! Heard 3 was disappointing though. I too love those kind of games. It's like we are playing god with limited power. Power that can change a character's life forever. This is why I own Rollercoaster Tycoon, Zoo Tycoon and all the 3 Sims games. It's like we are playing god with limited power. Power that can change a character's life forever. This is why I own Rollercoaster Tycoon, Zoo Tycoon and all the 3 Sims games. 3 wasn't dissapointing, it just angered alot of RCT fans due to it going 3D, which resulted in alot of the strategic elements of the game been taken out, replaced with the visual effects of the game. Personally I love it, simply because 3D opens up the world of possibilities of what you can create, especially when you start browsing the mods that can be downloaded. RCT2 is great though, and I still play it every now and then. I tried Zoo Tycoon aswell, but it just seemed far too dated for me, and having the Wild! expansion pack for RCT3 kinda made Zoo Tycoon unnecesary. I also have Theme Hospital for the PC, can't beat the nostalgia. Wish my PC could handle the new Sims, but when I tried it out, the PC lagged to hell and made it un-enjoyable. If I had an upgraded PC, my love for gaming would shoot up, since 99% of the strategy games are on the PC.
trip
To be honest I had more fun playing Dance Central and other Kinect games drunk last week than I've had on the 'core' xbox games I've owned for a long time. I already kinda posted, but I just wanted to respond to this one too. I recently rediscovered my Kinect, and am totally loving it. Since it is 1 billion degrees here; the first thing I do when I get home is strip down to a t-shirt and boxers. Combine that with all the beer drinking I do, and I have some hilarious kinect videos of myself. I often use the line "no pride and proud of it', so I just may have to post a few. I actually just started replaying RCT today, and I just bought the Zoo Tycoon "Complete Collection" off amazon a week ago. And well, this topic is kind of a relief. Glad to see I'm not the only one who's been feeling like this, I also haven't been gaming like I used to back then. But for me it's not because this generation is lacking, boring or there's not too many good games. On the contrary, there's so many good games around it has actually become almost overwhelming. Dnero
I just bought the Zoo Tycoon "Complete Collection" off amazon a week ago. Now THAT was the sh*t, had fun with it for years. Ahaha you did that too? Step 1: Block the entrance. Step 2: Pack your exhibits with lions and crocodiles. Step 3: Accidentally destroy a fence. Step 4: Unleash hell. There's an additional step 5 just for laughs Step 5: Employ a zookeeper. Just one. Once the animals have been unleashed, watch him/her go Rambo with his/her sniper rifle. I remembered I unleashed ten elephants and a couple of bengal tigers once and my zoofighters start shooting like crazy!

Jabalous
While I haven't lost my interest in gaming in general, I have lost my interest in many genres of gaming that I have once had so much interest in, and that when I was younger. In the days of PS1 and PS2, I used to play all kinds of games, racing, science fiction, FPS, fighting, sports...etc, but now, I'm only interested in Action/Adventure games, but not all of them, only the ones that can provide a great experience, and that's by providing a great technical presentation, alongside a great story and gameplay. This is why I only have about 10 or 11 games on my PS3. Apparently, the changing of interest is shaped by different factors that affect someone's life. Getting older, which leads to more pressure and responsibilities to someone's life, has the most effect. Let's say you study in a university, you wouldn't have as much time as you had in the high school to play all kinds of games, instead you would start losing your interest in some genres, as you can't try all the games that are being released. Let's not forget the fact that as you're getting older, you will keep having new experiences and hobbies, a new hobby comes in, an old hobby comes out. Once upon a time, I had so much interest in football, but now, I don't like it anymore. As for gaming, I don't see myself losing my interest in it at all as long as there are great companies, such as Rockstar Games, that can deliver great Action/Adventure experiences. Kratos2000
Anybody realised that 2011 is shaping up to be a boring year for gaming? Yeah, the f*ck? Deus Ex 3, Skyrim, LA Noire, Battlefield 3, The Witcher 2, Portal 2, Crysis 2, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, and a good dozen others? Must be a deep ass hole you're living in. Apex.
I do think gaming is becoming rather boring nowadays. I do go on Red Dead Redemption every now and then with my mate and get some laughs out of it. But the last game I went on for some fun was Modern Warfare 2, which is odd. Black Ops just wasn't doing it for me so nowadays I only go on Playstation for internet. Maybe i'll get into it more in November when a lot of good games are coming out, Uncharted 3, Saints Row etc.
Algonquin Assassin
I actually find gaming better these days now I'm not sitting at home on my ass. I study, so I appreciate it a lot because I'm not sitting on my 360, or PS3 for hours on end. My life would be boring as sh*t if I didn't have a 360, and PS3 to play with. I'm 25 and although there are times where I think gaming gets boring generally I wouldn't have it any other way. Mainland Marauder
I hit this when I was about 18 years old, but it was never because I just decided I didn't like playing games anymore but because I was working and getting out a lot more, chasing girls etc. It's just part of growing up. Later on I found that I spent less money staying home playing games You'll either get the interest to play again or not. mrpain
Wasn't aware that Team Fortress 2 popularity has risen in our country ever since it's free to play. But yeah, our country is so obsessed with FPS games. So I switched on my Xbox 360 today. Then I just sat there for like 5 minutes because I had no idea what games I should had played. I just played a quick game of Geometry Wars and turned it off 5 minutes later. I would usually spent like 6 hours on gaming but these days I only spent like half an hour., I definitely lost my interest in gaming.
d0mm2k8
I definitely lost my interest in gaming. By the looks of it, you just need to wait for ME3 to be released and that interest will come flooding back I recently got a lot more spare time on my hands, of which I'm spending a fair bit of it gaming. I find it hard to get into multiplayer games though since I'm more of a singleplayer person, so my choices are limited unless I can find some good mods (which has been the case with New Vegas). Mods always seem to fuel my interest with games.
