SpitIce
Hi I have just bought a new computer mostly so I could be able to play GTA IV on full settings. I've can play the game stable between 30 - 55 fps depends on where I'm driving. But when I touch the mouse I get lag and If I spin the camera around it starts lag when I look far away and close. Anyone knows why/got any tip on how to solve this? I have currently played all on max besides: Shadow Quality, View Distance and Detail Distance The Benchmark results on Maximum. Exxon
From which brand is the PSU? 750W could be insufficient if it's a very sh*tty one. But you could also try to just lower the sliders - you almost can't see the difference between sliders at 100 or 75 (or even 50).
OverTheBelow
From which brand is the PSU?750W could be insufficient if it's a very sh*tty one. No. Even if it were below 70% efficiency it'd still me more than enough for these specs. But you could also try to just lower the sliders - you almost can't see the difference between sliders at 100 or 75 (or even 50). This is what I'd suggest OP to do. The crappy Thuban architecture isn't playing the game at full justice and thus is choking when the game requires power to load everything in front of you (e.g. when you pan the camera to the city, it's loading objects you don't even see on sliders 100!). I know incrediblely bad PSU's don't really exist, but if it's só bad, you'll never know When I asked help from you guys when I got a new GPU and PSU, mkey82 said this: (He already said that 550W is more than enough) 'Even a 1000W power suply could fail if it's a very sh*tty one' Edited June 21, 2011 by Exxon
Jigglyass
If you want to unlock your 6950, but keep all your core and memory clocks stock, try the shader unlock. This only unlocks the shaders, and only the shaders. It does not modify any of the cards stock voltages or clocks. Just save your original cards BIOS through GPU-z and run the shader unlocker, specify your cards BIOS and when its done, flash it to the card. This should eliminate the artifacts. It's just the cheapo ones that blow up first.
SpitIce
I dont know if the PSU are good or bad, I got it very cheap and it is made by a company I never heard before AXP But can a power supply make that? All games I have tried have I been able to max. like Battlefield Bad Company 2, I got 60 - 100FPS and I never get any lag spike or something like that. I mean I can play on max without any lag, but If I touch the mouse little so the camera moves, it starts lagg. Do you think it will disappear if I use an Xbox controll? mkey82
I'd start by removing the overclocks, lowering the settings and then seeing how the game/system behaves.

Stinky12
When the game lags is the HDD light on? This might sound strange, but go to power management and turn the HDD sleep from 20 minutes to Never.

SpitIce
Patch 4 gives the best performance to most people, yes. Ok, I have reseted all clocks and patched the game to 1.0.4.0 and it actually helped the lag with mouse. But I have less FPS now, so now instead it starts lag because of low fps, I camed down to 17FPS as lowest and 48 as highest while I was playing. Merlena
One word. Driver issues. Haven't had ATI for 4 years, so not sure how updated; they are, or how they behave around RAGEs crap engine. (Rage > Rockstar Advanced Game Engine)

Merlena
Video Driver version: 8.17.10.1083 I am actually using: 11,6 Give me a second, I'll check it out with my old 4750 Crossfire lying around here (just need to insert em' into "motherboard-table-testing-station-lol", as well as digging in the recent driver files. I did not encounter any issues, however, there is some weird behavior with the settings. 100 View 100 Detail 16 (as I can remember) Shadow Density, lower it by 2. Max out everything else except shadows; start at off. (read my last part). Try lower the View / Detail to 92-95. My first thought is your BIOS settings. Disable any power saving features, or CPU down clocking. I'd also re-install the game, and see how it runs on 1.0; 1.1 - 1.3; report the behavior regarding frames as you gradually increase the shadow quality. Question: Does this issue, or any frame drops, any GPU memory "leaks" occur during other modern games? (The Witcher 2, Dirt 3, and so on?) PM me if you can't find a solution in this thread. Keep this rather updated. We'll get it sorted out, you have my word Edited June 21, 2011 by Merlena
SpitIce
Hi I will try that, but over to other games. On The Witcher 2 I just get a yellow bright screen and I gave up there so I removed the game. jsut like if someone is lightning with an yellow flashlight into the camera. Dirt 3 is running great stable on 60FPS on maximum Dead Space 2 I got 80 - 160FPS Crysis 2 I've got 30 - 60FPS Battlefield Bad Company 2 I've got 60 - 80 FPS
freak2121
I seem to have the same problem. I checked with fraps, and (not counting my average framerate of 21) every time I turn the camera my framerate dips to 1. By the way, for the Witcher 2 problem, you should set everything to application controlled in CCC. That fixed it for me. My benchmark, by the way: StatisticsAverage FPS: 21.18 Duration: 37.73 sec CPU Usage: 67% System memory usage: 72% Video memory usage: 51% Graphics Settings Video Mode: 1680 x 1050 (60 Hz) Texture Quality: High Shadow Quality: High Reflection Resolution: High Water Quality: High Texture Filter Quality: Anisotropic x16 Night Shadows: High View Distance: 42 Detail Distance: 42 Hardware Microsoft® Windows Vista" Home Premium Service Pack 2 Video Adapter: AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series Video Driver version: 8.17.10.1083 Audio Adapter: Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio) Intel® Core2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz File ID: Benchmark.cli
