I then considered the Sony WF-1000XM3 Noise Cancelling Wireless Earphones. These were just under $200 and apparently have better sound than even the Airpods Pro, but then I decided to look into Sennheiser, which are considered the best headphone and earphone manufacturer in the market today. They target audiophiles in general.

Sound quality is my number 1 priority, so I had to get a pair from them. I came across the MOMENTUM True Wireless 2, which came earlier this year and had some of the best sound you could get in the wireless earphones market.

Eh...I don't know about that one. I owned a bunch of Sennheisers myself, over-ears in particular, and whilst I think that there is something to the "German engineering" claim (their headphones tend to be reliable and last for decades in many cases) their build quality/materials and comfort aren't necessarily the best. And this is coming from a HD800 owner, their old $1500 flagship open-back from 2010. They're not made anymore but the detail/resolution of this headphone still makes them the top dog in that price range (especially now that you can buy them used for $800 or less) and even higher perhaps, but they're actually unusable without EQ due to treble issues. What I'm getting at is that sound quality is kinda subjective and most companies have headphone models that are either overpriced or just straight up "duds". Sennheiser in particular isn't known for making great in-ears. Their specialty is full size open-backs.

I forgot about the Sonys you mentioned. Those are actually the value kings in that price range for wireless stuff but I would probably still pick an Etymotic ER4 or ER2XR (wired in-ears) because they already isolate 98% passively and the sound quality is some of the best I've heard in any headphone regardless of price honestly.

The Momentum True Wireless are very good actually- and very well regarded as has been almost all of their wireless in-ear range over the last couple of years. I've got their predecessor (the Momentum Free) and would probably still be using them daily for running/working out/walking the baby if I hadn't thought I lost them and bought my Cambridge Melomanias instead. I'd forgotten about them when I gave suggestions in the thread. On balance I reckon the Sony's or Cambridge Audios are probably better at their respective price points (possibly because they're a bit less sterile without losing accuracy and therefore align with how I subjectively like my earphones to sound) but the True Wireless are still a brilliant set of do-it-all wireless in-ears.

My latest interesting purchase (other than a travel crib and three boxes of stain remover powder) is an XSPC D5 PWM pump.

xspc-d5-pwm-without-front-cover-sata-pow

Should arrive today in time for me to immediately invalidate the warranty by drilling a big hole in the back of the housing, lopping off the cables, sleeving and adding on a PSU connector.

My brother won one of these in some online poker tournament. They are pretty amazing speakers and last long. You made a good purchase.

Metalcore and deathcore sound absolutely amazing on Sennheiser TWM 2's. Loving them so far.

I don't have the cheesy little skull attached to mine, but holy crap...this thing is one dangerous yo-yo.  It's metal for crying out loud!

Since I've been adding more gear to my camera, time to upgrade the tripod. Bought this video tripod. Its seems like good value.

It's better than drugs which I've never taken. I burn it all off anyway cleaning at work. Plus a cup of tea and a cake slice helps me relax after my dinner, just like a ciggy helps a smoker, of which I am not one.

5 liters of hydrochloric acid and 1 liter of granulated sodium hydroxide, basically table salt.

Also a bookcase for my kitchen which I know I could have gotten way cheaper elsewhere.

Sony Xperia 1 II, just waiting on a case and a screen protector before I set it up.

image0.jpg

My old phone was my mum's old iphone 6 plus, which had recently developed the "touch disease" problem, have to twist and bend it to make the touchscreen function properly. Instead of fixing a 5 year old phone with other issues (worn out home button, dodgy camera, overheating issues) I got this, it wasn't cheap but it's better than paying more than a phone is worth to get it working again.

I probably wouldn't have bought any phone at all if we didn't get a covid supplement in my country which is probably the only good outcome of covid so far, this thing's camera is hopefully gonna be good enough for when car shows are allowed again.

It also got here amazingly quickly considering they said postage would be delayed so hats off to them.
