craney
Evening all Just got a quick question regarding the handling.dat file. I have just downloaded a car mod and imported it fine but the hadling line numbers that came in the read me of the modded car when pasted into the correct line which for me was "comet" it seemed all out of line compared to all the of lines in the dat file is this normal? many thanks
ZBNYNC
Yeah that can be normal, it doesn't affect the way the car handles in the game though. Overall, handling lines can be shorter or longer, it doesn't really matter.
NaidRaida
The only thing that matters is that at minimum one blank character is between each value. The rest is pure optic and doesn´t affect anything.
craney
thanks for that guys, is it really worth putting in the new handling value with a modded car if it really doesn't make a difference? One more thing, i find a lot of the modded cars i like seem to use the same default models i.e comet turismo etc can i just rename the .wft file and the other one (cant remember the extension) to what ever car i wish to replace so if the modded car was created as comet.wft could i rename it to say sultanrs.wft? The only slight prob with doing this i guess is would it not affect the vehicles.ide config that comes with the car as it would be setup as a comet thanks again guys
Apex_Skins
"Overall, handling lines can be shorter or longer, it doesn't really matter. " Actually, if you use a handling editor it doesn't like the longer lines. Maybe a coding issue with the version I'm using, so when I install a new car I just compress it back down to it's original size. Currently using version 1.4 of "Computer Master"s handling editor. And yes, adding the handling usually makes a huge difference, but some times when some one makes a car the damn thing's top heavy, so editing the handling really is a must do. Also, another yes to renaming the vehicles to what ever you want, just make sure they have the same amount of doors as the original model. And make sure you change the handling and the vehicles.ide lines to match the name change. say your changing the turismo to the sultan rs, just change the "turismo, turismo, car, TURISMO, TURISMO," to "sultanrs, sultanrs, car, SULTANRS, SULTANRS," in the vehicles.ide data line. the 4th vehicle name is the name of the car ingame, as well as the engine sound, so if you want you can mix and match them to get what ever engine sound you prefer. These are probably stupid questions but are you sure that you saved the handling.dat file? Also, are you sure you put in the right handling line for the right car?
