unc13bud
the fastest way to find out is to take a screwdriver to the bottom of the laptop and verify visually if you have any empty slots where a video card could be added. there was this thing called mxm that people were supposed to be able to add video cards to their laptops. i know for sure that an acer i bought had slots to add cards like bluetooth and graphic chipsets, but i gave up on ever finding the info out from acer

unc13bud
but it is possible perhaps. i have a store near me that parts out pulls from dead computers. i upgraded my celeron 900 in my acer 5230e to a t5800 for $9. they sell bluetooth, webcams. the problem would be getting the proper heatsink (edit: for a graphics card chipset), which is why i think he should dialogue with some hp parts reps over email. the first one will probably be an idiot who recites the standard tech support script, but the subsequent contacts might be able to give the poster exactly the info he wants
Stinky12
On some laptop CPU can be changed as they're not embedded, but changing the CPU also accounts into the cooling setup it was once used. e.g. the system originally had a i3 so the cooling system was designed for i3, then you upgrade to a i7, will that cooling system made for the i3 be sufficient enough to cool a i7? In older laptops, some models with discrete graphics can be upgrades. These graphic cards uses the MXM module, but it's a pain as there are 3 types and they're not easy to find. The Asus whitebook is a DIY laptop and uses MXM.
unc13bud
will that cooling system made for the i3 be sufficient enough to cool a i7? it runs cooler now than it did with the celeron, yes. i use that ancient secret method of heat measuring - i hold my hand underneath the laptop while playing flash videos, watching dvd etc.
