Urban Legend
I wanna break into a house at any time, through any door or window. I want there to be a variety of items to steal, from TVs and microwaves to antiques and art, and occationally a safe you can break into. And I want to have different contacts to sell stuff to. One specializes in art, one in Hi Fi ect. They all offer different prices for different Items. The timer in SA was stupid, but the noise-bar was good. Make it more challenging, unpredicatable and fun! Are you really going to waste your time on a microwave? Better be a freakin George Foreman. Just playin bruddah. But the timer is logical cuz you dont want to be up in someones sh*t when they about to wake and get the kids ready for school. I think the san andreas robbery was a little too stereotypical. I enjoyed VC and its robbery system. Instant heat from the police, getaway was sometimes difficult if you left with four stars. Damn shame all the shop owners were pussy. In the next gta when you achieve 3 or more stars a cutscene should ensue... 2 of your close boys would come through the nearest door, and to your surprise the heist would be that much bigger. But this would only happen if you havent obtained a wanted star in a certain amount of time prior to robbery. I know that scripting sh*t uses alot of those "if" "then" statements. Denise Robinson
Of course it should. Not just SA-style house robberies, but holding up stores a bit like Vice City should come back too. Hell, it'd be great if it was possible to rob banks without being in a mission. But that should obviously be pretty tough compared to other robberies. I agree with you they should definitely bring it back.
Mute Giant
I really cant understand how much praise people give the VC robbery system. You press a button, recieve an unsignificant sum of cash and get two wanted stars. Get the same effect in any GTA by entering a store and type in the "wanted star cheat". I dont want them to add features just for the sake of it. Make them meaningfull and fun or dont implement them at all.
Raptomex
It should definitely return. I want it to be more involved too. Maybe rob some stores without the alarm going off, or rob stores during the day and have a getaway car, etc. Same goes for homes. I don't know, there is so much they can do. TenEightyOne
Are you guys forgetting the fact that San Andreas and GTA IV utilized two completely different engines? You couldn't break into people's houses because the developers didn't render dozens of interiors to break into, interiors that you would enter with absolutely no loading times, and that'd just be for one district alone. Imagine what it would be like for the entire city. I'm sorry, but if you want to see this feature return then you'll have to wait for the introduction of next-gen consoles. There is not enough memory to do this kind of thing with the RAGE engine on current-gen consoles. And this is coming from someone who owns a PS3. I think that your idea of the whole city being rendered at once is flawed. R* removed the interior loading times by treating interiors in the same way as exteriors. If you're driving around the LC Airport then the Statue of Happiness isn't being rendered (and vice versa). Interiors are also rendered as required; in GTAIV most use the 'corridor' trick where you enter a smaller area that gives the engine time to unload/load the relevant resources. If anything GTAIV lends itself to succesful 'burglary' style mini-games than SA. On that note... yes, I'd love to see burglary back in.
XTREME0235
Requested for a title change to 'Burglary' as it seems to suit the discussion the most. Edited June 20, 2011 by XTREME0235
WhistleBlower
I tried APB for free before its release and that is the only thing the partially got right. Overall that game blew major donkey nuts, but it was a hell of a lot of fun jumping in a car with 4 people and ramming the car into the storefront and being forced to carry the loot to your truck. It was a rush. That would be a nice addition to the robbery system. I've never played APB before, but what you described sounds awesome. I'd love to do something like that in a GTA game. The closest thing that I remember to a robbery was pointing my gun at the store clerk in Vice City and seeing the numbers in my money stat rise. What would be cool is if you could actually see the whole process go down. And what if I'm being surrounded by the cops? I want to take some hostages. If there's no one else around, I'd simply use the store clerk as a meat-shield. I could even push the guy into the cop and make a run for it. Right now, apart from Three Leaf Clover, and even that was scripted, the robbery feature just isn't that exciting.
GroveSt.Fam4L
Are you seriously asking that question? Robbery should be a huge deal in any GTA game. From robbing cars, to houses, to stores, banks, businesses, all the way to robbing that little old lady in the dark alleyway where the cops don't see anything. XTREME0235
It's good to see what people's opinions are towards this feature. There are some really nice points made for both 'for' and 'against' the idea. I suppose if it was implemented it would be your choice if you wanted to use it or not, just like with planes. When people make the statement "It's not Grand Theft Flight Simulator", yeah that's right but the planes are their for people who want to fly them or maybe they would be apart of the story line. Much like burglary if it was forced on that you had to do it for at least one mission and one only, then that's it your suffering is over and you wouldn't have to use it again. Hence why I support both opinions. Edited June 21, 2011 by XTREME0235

I mean, it's not a matter of putting it or not in the game, it just is completely related with the game's SOUL! ...no matter what story the GTA has, if you're a gangster in the ghetto(CJ), or a new man in town(Tommy Vercetti)... it doesn't matter, 'cause you're playing a grand THEFT auto... got it?
