Moved to Troubleshooting.

Reinstall the game and delete the gta_sa.set file from the User Files folder. Lets us know if it works then.

You didn't say which Operating System you have.

Consider that the game is Not intended to be modified. We do not assist in modding problems on this part of the forum.

So you want to have a clean installation to start with.

When you do 'downgrade' which is not supported here, you must play the game to be sure it is working.

When you attempt to mod you must play the game to ensure it is still working before you install the next mod.

When your game fails don't use that mod or go to the modding forums for help.

To start:

If you're on Vista, you'll need to do this:

1) Uninstall SA.

2) Delete the installation folder if it still exists. (e.g. C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas).

3) Delete the Virtual Store copy of the installation folder too. The Appdata folder might be hidden. (e.g. C:\Users\???\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas).

4) Delete the gta_sa.set file from your user files folder.

5) Reboot.

6) Reinstall SA.

if necessary To Unhide Folders:

START > User > Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Folder Options> Show Hidden files and Folders.

What saves are you trying to load? Remember that even though you have downgraded, your game is still effectively V2. It's a common misconception that downgrading changes your game to V1. So, if you're trying to load V1 saves, your game will crash. Only V2 savefiles will work.

I hope we are not going in Circles here.

1. You have an Original DVD Second Edition Game Disc.

2. You have a Vista Operating System.

3. Your Game when it was First installed worked without any problems.

4. You tried to downgrade the game.

5. The game worked after you downgraded the game.

6. The Game stopped working after you Modded the game.

7. You have uninstalled the game using the games uninstaller.

8. You have removed the Hidden files.

9. You have deleeted the GTA_SA.set file.

10. You have reinstalled the game.

11. The newly reinstalled game WITHOUT any mods or Downgrading still does not work?

I'm under the assumption that your game is still downgraded. Have you tried reinstalling and NOT downgrading? We need to know if the game works then.

Also, I forgot to mention this before, but some mods are not deleted when you uninstall the game and you have to delete the files manually. If that's the case, then it could be the reason why your game still crashes after reinstalling. Delete all leftover files before reinstalling the game.

No, when you uninstall the game, just check whether the GTA San Andreas folder is still there or not (the location where you installed it). If it's there, then delete the entire folder manually. After that, you can proceed with the reinstallation.

Respond to this.

Does your game work without downgrading?

Download any V2 savefile from this topic. Copy it to your User Files folder and tell us if you're able to load it.

now i can play like 5-10 minutes before it crashes :S

please try not to double post

where is your GTA San Andreas folder?

(if you dont know goto "my computer" the "C: Windows Drive" and select "program files" and scroll down until/ you reach folders begining with "R" and you should see a folder named "Rockstar Games" enter it and all your Rockstar games you have installed should be there (GTA San Andreas GTA III GTA Vice City GTA IV)

click GTA San Andreas and check your gta_sa.exe (right click it and select run as administrator) and try playing again see if that helps icon14.gif

also if you have the gta_sa.exe on desktop just right click that one instead (its a shortcut to the orignal .exe)

also have you downloaded a NO CD crack? because that could be a source

but do you have a nod cd crack? if so then try the disc.exe (still called gta_sa.exe)

if its a disc version then are there any marks (scratches fingerprints etc.) on the disc? if so clean the disc

A Backstep: For infromation on the Game. V2 must be downgraded for modding, as you know. BUT if you then applied update V1.01 you have removed the ability to mod the game. V1.01 is Only for the V1 game to remove the ability to mod the game plus fix some bugs in the game. The V1.01 is already in the V2 game.

Current: What we are trying to do is return the Game V2 to its native ability for game play.

After doing a Clean install.

You should be adjusting the game settings by right clicking the .exe file to set it to

Administrative Privilages.

Windows 98 Mode.

Your game is Euro (Danish)?

Do you really have Vista? is it Basic, Home Premium, or Professional?

OR do you really have Win 7 as the Operating System?

if you want to add mods to gta sa check your version (if its V2.00 it'll say at the menu "start game" "options" & "quit game")

V1.00 wont say and idk bout V3.00

you need a downgrade patch for gta sa

if you want to know how add/make mods post it in the modding forum

http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showforum=17 post a topic asking for help on mods and im sure people will help you

i think this would be better suited for the mod forum

the mods should work even without admin status

I'm assuming your system is too weak to handle mods. We need to know your full system specifications before we proceed with any further suggestions.

agreed^

if you have windows 7 you should be able to run mods at no problem (my mods ran perfectly when i played it on my uncle's Windows 7 laptop)

Vista should not have too many modding problems (idk i dont have Vista and never played GTA SA on vista before)

XP has a bit more lag than the other 2 (i have XP and the game lags when i see the Mr. Bean car mod)

We are trying to get the Game working... WITHOUT mods at this point., which is proving quite a sticker.

He cannot install any Downgrades or Mods UNTIL the Basic GTA:SA game is up and running correctly.

The game as described is a V2 Original DVD Disc..

Clean installed, from the Original DVD Disc (A No-CD Crack is NOT installed.)

It doesn't Need the V1.01 patch, as that is already intigrated as part of the Second Edition (V2) game.

The game when originally installed worked, until the game was downgraded and mods were installed, and further corrupted by the patch (Un-needed) V1.01 which undid everything.

So, here we are trying to get the Clean Reinstall working....
