AZAZEL
Oi. I recently purchased a 2.5" 500GB Seagate Momentus 7200 rpm drive, and a matching external USB3.0 enclosure. Just plugging the thing into a USB port doesn't seem to do anything, so I reckon I have to format it. How might I go about doing that when Windows (7) can't see the drive? Spider-Vice
If Windows can't see it in Computer, in Disk Management it's not format but yes Create new Partition, and then it will format automatically. let your hopes and dreams turn into burning fire! AZAZEL
Thanks guys! Oh, one more question. This external drive enclosure came with a cable that has a mini-USB that plugs into the drive, and then it splits into two regular USB cables, one of them being a blue USB3.0 cable, and the other being a regular white one. Just plugging the white one in doesn't do anything, but plugging the blue one in works. Is the white one supposed to be plugged in alongside the blue one, to give it more power or the like? dice
The second one is probably for the power suply. I also have an external USB disk and on some computers it works with just the main USB plugged in, while on others you need both, probably because not all computers output the same power in the frontside USB jacks.
