Chimpso
My PC ventilation fan has been acting weirdly over the past month. It only seems to happen when I turn on my computer, the fan will either be very (read, very) quiet, or it will be a loud, not-good sounding chainsaw-like noise. My computer's performance has not been affected, and this problem generally goes away a few minutes after starting up the computer, but It still doesn't sound good. Anyone know what the problem might be?
OverTheBelow
Have you opened the side of the computer and determined which fan is causing the noise? One of the fans may not be screwed in tight enough, or the bearing is just wearing out after long use. However I have a feeling it's just the noise reverberating around your case. Kirst
Try and work out which fan it is, remove it and reseat it making sure it's tightened well to reduce vibrations etc. If you've opened your case and maybe not bothered screwing the side panel on can also cause issues with extra noises.
