The ACR model didn't change much.

Hopefully its recoil did

I kind of of hope that it still has no recoil, like MW2 to be honest.

Yeah... all it is is an earlier version of the ACR i believe...

and the difference between the FMG9 and other SMGs is that it is just a an automatic Glock with a folding carrying case... Looks cool though.

Cant wait til they fully release competitive MP info...

In September they will show the special edition and multiplayer trailer.

MP at the end, he kills someone and it says "14 POINT streak".

I hope that means more emphasis on team play.

Also, a Juggernaut as killstreak, oh dear...

There's a slight chance that spec ops weapon stats will be different from MP weapon stats, so there's still a hope that the ACR loses the laserbeam precision and gets added recoil for MP just like other guns hopefuly.

Weapons in SP are different from their MP counterparts anyway, so it's quiet possible that they'll change it for sepc ops too. Bowling has stated that spec ops will be hectic and that guns will be overpowered in it.

And the juggernaut kill streak is most likely only for spec ops. You get to call them in.

That was MP footage at the end afaik, the HUD is quite different. I'd think it means you become a juggernaut.

Well that survival mode looks good to me icon14.gif

Wonder how many people you can have in a party for it though? I always wanted more then just me and another mate in Spec Ops, im hoping for a full party of 6 for some rounds in this.

Ah yeah good point, but nothing says you can't call in a friendly AI team of juggs in MP. That would actually be fun. I'd rather fight off/with a team of juggs than get spawn trapped by player controlled air support.

Really though, i'd only worry about it if it was a kill streak, but it's a point streak. They're probably harder to get and i don't think you get points for camping. Whoever gets it earns it icon14.gif

Looks intense. I've watched that end bit with the multiplayer tease several times, what on earth is that thing? A launching mine? Except, the kill symbol has it as an airstrike?

Love how much attention you pay to game videos. Didn't notice that until just watched it again, but it seems abit strange. It's the symbol that shows up for an AC130 kill.

You just know one of the perks is going to make it so those 'flying mines' delay when you step on them.

The 'Juggernaut' is just something you get for 14 killstreak by the looks of it, if you read the text underneath. Maybe we start earning something for killstreaks, like new titles and whatnot?

Got the invite to ELITE, check your emails.

Nice. What platform for? Are they running it through a website, or a console download?

I'm looking forward to the game coming out, mainly so I can see what happens with the SP storyline, after the cliffhanger ending in MW2.

I'll probably give the MP a try as well, but unless major changes are made to the same engine that's been running the MP games since COD4, then I probably won't play too much of it.

I wonder what the announcement will be about, I doubt it is multiplayer because they said that they will release the info on September during the CoD XP to be exact.

I'm gonna miss zombies but this looks pretty cool.

Why will you be missing zombies? You can go back and play CoD:BlOps or any other game with zombies. Or what? Is Koticktivision going to deactivate BlOps right after MW3 gets released? Damn it, I should really keep my mouth shut. angry.gif

It was also mentioned that new multiplayer modes would be coming to Modern Warfare 3 except Bowling didn’t share any information on what these modes would be.

“There’s no dive to prone in#MW3but I can’t talk about MP specifics yet, but there are new modes.”

Hopefully they will be team-based MP modes.

Team based? Hah i doubt that, they may aim for that but the players won't actually do it.

That's why I prefer playing MW2 at night, since you find alot of clans are playing at this time, and they're more based on the team objective, rather than just themselves. Other day, I was top of the leaderboard of Domination in GW, yet had only gained 4 kills in total.

Sorry for the double post, but just noticed something that others may want to know. If you have signed up to the Elite service, and have applied for beta testing it, only BO players have a chance of gaining beta access to the service. Utterly f*cking stupid if you ask me. Surely it should be the people who are playing MW2 that gain early access?

I am liking that they mention they are making it accessible within the game itself though, but how would that work on the 360? Still possible to do without web browser functionality?

I didn't think MW2 was included in the statistics yet? So it makes more sense that they're only allowing access to Black Ops players.

It seems you're right (surprise tounge.gif ). Strangely enough, I've been accepted into the Elite beta, and can view the full website now, such as what Vertical can do, but there is no section for MW2. Has there been any word on whether or not they are going to add MW2 to the statistics? I know BO is the latest game, but it would make sense to add MW2 to the site, since this is MW3.

I heard there will be statistics for every CoD game. Not sure about really old titles though. No link, but i clearly remember this being discussed.

Then again i might be f*cking wrong haha.

I've also been accepted, despite not playing Black Ops online yet! dontgetit.gif

Might give me a reason to play. Not sure they'll add every CoD game like tuareg said, but there was definitely talk of adding MW2.

I'd say add me, but the friends system doesn't seem to want to work for me. confused.gif

Anyway, cheers to Andy for the link:

You know you’ve got something big on your hands when you’re expecting three-hour lines for fans to play your game on the show floor, but that’s just what Activision has forecasted for the Modern Warfare 3 demo that the publisher has brought here to Gamescom 2011. Fortunately, we had a chance to skip the inevitable chaos and jump into a hands-on demo of the game’s new Spec Ops Survival mode before the doors open to the public tomorrow.

Spec Ops Survival is the follow-up to the similarly titled Spec Ops co-operative mode first introduced in Modern Warfare 2. Whereas that mode was all about two players teaming up in a series of objective-based missions, Survival uses the familiar framework of the wave-based enemy assaults seen in the likes of Gears of War’s Horde mode and Halo’s Firefight. The only objective for you and your teammate is to survive a potentially infinite number of enemy waves, all while earning cash and experience to upgrade your firepower.

We got to play on the Paris map, a medium-sized chunk of urban devastation where alleyways, bridges, and demolished houses made for some interesting routes throughout the map. Of course, you don’t have to go anywhere--you just have to survive. The twist, as you might have guessed, is that the waves of enemies ramp up in difficulty and sheer ridiculousness the longer you survive. While you start against a small handful of on-foot soldiers, you eventually have to deal with attack dogs strapped with C4, heavily armored juggernauts, and even attack choppers.

The game balances against this ramping-up difficulty level with a currency system that lets you buy and upgrade new equipment at a handful of crates scattered around the map. The strategy comes down to whether you want to spend a little bit of cash refilling your weapons and grenades, or save up for something bigger like a grenade-launching sentry turret or an additional flak jacket to boost your armor against the impending onslaught of enemies.

We had an absolute blast with the 13 rounds of Survival we managed to stay alive through. Yes, the waves-of-enemies framework is something that’s been seen in tons of games before, but we were immediately impressed with just how well Modern Warfare’s trademarks have been implemented. The break-neck pacing, the persistent unlocks, and the variety of weaponry all manage to work wonderfully even as you’re staying in place, which is more or less the exact opposite of how things tend to go in the quickly-moving Modern Warfare campaigns.

Some of the highlights from our time with the game included hiding under a bridge while coordinating with our teammate who was going to lure out the chopper and who was going to shoot it; frantically running up to a second-floor balcony to unload our shotgun against the juggernaut who was too slow to match our pace; and the sheer level of terror that came about when we heard the escalating bark of attack dogs but couldn’t see where they were coming from. The whole formula works very well, especially when you factor in the strategy of deciding which upgrades you want to buy during the fleeting seconds between rounds.

Besides just the Survival Spec Ops (which has a full leveling and unlock system separately tuned from the one found in competitive multiplayer) we also had a chance to play through one of the new missions in the standard Spec Ops mode. This was an asymmetrical mission set in Berlin where our teammate was up in a building sniping enemies while we were slowly lumbering through the streets defusing IEDs in a heavy juggernaut suit. This one surprised us with just how enemies were thrown our way, but we managed to take our time and fire away at them enough to find all the IEDs on the road. Initially we made the mistake of trying to do everything ourselves, which got us killed pretty quick. It wasn’t until we let our sniper teammate handle the heavy lifting that we found success.

And that just about did it for what Activision had on display for Modern Warfare 3. Call of Duty: XP, the new convention dedicated to the blockbuster shooter franchise, is just around the corner so you can expect to hear even more about Modern Warfare 3 before too long. Expect to see the final product released on store shelves
