yoječ
I like the second build. Between the HD6950 and GTX460, how much difference in performance are we looking at? About 20-25% @ Full HD, according to techpowerup.com. HD6870 is on average about 15% better than GTX460 (which is noticeable), but GF's OC capabilities cover the difference. But he can upgrade in the future.
Girish
All the builds are slightly over budget but since these are online prices, I'm assuming the actual prices to be lesser when I buy them in person. I also forgot to mention that he would need a new case which would be another Rs.1500 at least. I'm also concerned about the cooling. It's quite hot over here as it is. Online prices tend to be lower than store prices, as the online companies don't need to pay for shop space, as many staff members et cetera. So, do we add another Rs. 1500? If so, Here is an alternate build: Motherboard | Asus P8H67-M-LX 16GB DDR Intel Motherboard | Rs. 5165 Processor | Intel Core i5-2500K 6MB 3.30GHz Processor | Rs. 10955 Graphics Card | Palit GeForce GTX560 OC 1024MB GDDR5 NVidia PCI E Graphics Card | Rs. 10910 Memory | G.Skill 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1333MHz Desktop RAM | Rs. 2090 Hard Drive | Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB 7200RPM SATA Internal Desktop Hard Drive | Rs. 2170 Power Supply | Corsair Builder Series 500W Power Supply | Rs. 3215 Total | Rs. 33460 _________________________________________________________________________ Case | Cooler Master Elite 310 Silver ATX Cabinet | Rs. 1550 Cooler | Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus | Rs. 1925 Fans | Antec Tricool 80mm fan / 2xCooler Master 120mm Blue Led Fan | Rs. 1270 Total | Rs. 4745 Notes: * A H67 Motherboard. * 8GB instead of 4GB. However I must say really great prices, most websites like these tend to overprice the products. Edited September 13, 2011 by PrometheusX
Girish
Okay, sorry for bothering you guys again but apparently, my friend's dad does not understand the concept of bottleneck and thinks it's not necessary to have a good enough video card to match a fast processor. So, he has been asked to settle for a video card in the price range of Rs.6000-7000. What would you guys recommend?
Exxon
For just a tiny bit more (7100 RS), you can get this. HIS Radeon HD 6850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 HIS might not be very known (I gues), but the next videocard you can buy for 7000 RS is the GTX 550 Ti, which is quite a bit slower than the HD 6850

FPSs were 79 for ati and 67 for nvidia. And as you know, 60fps is max fps that human eye can register, higher then that and you can't make a difference. Also most monitors can't show more than 60fps. So if money is important then 550 ti isn't a bad choice.

I gues I'm just choosing the one which is most 'future-proof' (although the difference between them isn't that big).
yoječ
HIS not very known? It's one of the biggest AMD partners GTX550Ti is equivalent to HD6770, actually. But, have in mind Exxon that stuff in US is much cheaper than in India. The best I could find for Rs.7000 is HD5770 (which is the same as HD6770). http://www.theitdepot.com/details-Power+Co...)_C45P8101.html

AndrefromEstonia
My friend played BF3 beta on a HP laptop wich has intel dual core 2,2ghz and a 4850 card...everythig low and playable. I didn't think it was possible, cause the graphics are so great. So pretty much, you can play all the games, maybe not at highest settings but still, on all of the cards mentioned here.
