San Andreas Nostalgia!

Recommended Posts

TheSantader25

Man I'm going through the game for the "I don't know anymore" th time and hearing the SA theme with the 'mission passed' sign just feels like home. It's so nostalgic.

@flgta

Just buy the trilogy on PS4. it was one of the best decisions I made. Bought them all for 15$ on sale and been enjoying the heck out of it.

San Andreas' theme, Vice City and lll are all nostalgia lane for me.

Man, that's a great deal. I guess I'm a bit of an old game snob and want the experience of the feel of PS2 game, plus it had Vigilante 8. I literally kept the original Vice City and playbook since 2002. 🙃 I'll consider a PS4 esp for first person.

I usually flip between San Andreas and Redemption when defining the peak of my Video Games experience. Surely I played much more advanced and expanded games after San Andreas, and V is the one to mention here, but it's more about the complete Experience package, including things like my age. If I was as old as I'm now and SA has just released, it'd surely not have the same effect on me years down the road, and most likely I won't spend the same amount of time exploring it. Age is the primary difference, and that's of course what nostalgia is about.

Time moves on ... and we also move on.

I thought about buying myself a PS2 just to play some old GTA games and few other favorite games. I don't even know if I should get a refurbished, fat or slim (I think I had the fat) buy used or new. Any ideas?

My brother had a slim one, I bought a fat one. Fat one makes way too much fan noise compared to the slim, but other than that I have not experienced any major issues.

One thing to consider is that it only supports a small resolution, so if you have a large TV you'll need to sit quite far otherwise it will be uncomfortably pixelated. I'm shortsighted, and sitting 2 metres away is fine.

Yeah similar to mine since I have a flat screen TV. But mine has a sh*t load of settings that make the resolution just a little better and not as pixled. I have some color changes as options between Cool, Normal, or Warm and playing SA with Warm settings while the in-game clock is at 21:00 Is so gorgeous :inlove: It's beyond the orange atmosphere. Just right. I guess it all depends on which type of TV you have.

About the original Fat PS2 indeed it's pretty loud. Right after 2008 I remember I started noticing a loud noise coming from it. Bought my PS2 slim around 2009 and It's currently the one I still own and use. Still works like a charm :^:

Lol can't help but think back to San Andreas whenever I hear about Big Smokes order.

Really enjoyed driving around listening to the radio. Missions where fun and a good story. Despite some people saying it wasn't good. Sure it got pretty wild with the some stuff and it was a little out there at times, but it was really fun either way. Its always nice to return to Grove Street once in awhile.

I have a photo from way back when that had a shot of my old PS2. It was the fat one. I would be wary about buying used, though maybe I can find a refurbished one at a store. The price would be paying for a ''classic'' if I bought new. Good point about having a large TV and with the older graphics/resolution. Oh well. I just think having older games are better played on older consoles, IMO. It's the experience and of course, nostalgia.

Back when Youtube was taking its first tentative steps, I remember that my initial experience with the site was all about San Andreas videos. I always liked stunt compilations the most, being awestruck with the things some people were doing by using mods. So happy to find out that this one in particular is still around.

The creepy urban legends of the game, of course, gained a lot of attention back then too. I remember being pretty creeped out by some vids that were edited to make it look like Bigfoot, Leatherface, or a ghost was really there. I'm... not looking back at those quite so fondly. 😛

I used to mod the sh*t out of this game back in 2004-5-6 whatever it was. Since then I kept moving on with each new game, until GTA V has become so damn overplayed I can navigate the map with my eyes closed.

Low and behold a local store was throwing away copies of SA for PS3... I figured, why not? I always modded and cheated on the PC, let's give it a crack.

It's amazing how f*cking awesome this game still is.

No reason for poisting this, no rewards but your time wasted reading this.

After all this time.... it still kicks ass!

Hmmm nice bike

There's no such thing as a perfect game, but San Andreas comes close. The game didn't need mods to have fun in it. I'll definitely stick to playing my original Xbox copy though, since it's a shame that the digital releases have missing tracks due to copyright issues, and the mobile version is just a complete f*ck-up.

Holy sh*t, that was amazing :O

Any tips on how to make this happen again? I want to try this myself now.

No way to replicate it unless you staged it at multiplayer or something, getting a plane to spawn with that kind of timing is down to major luck and then some.

It's a common but interesting topic here again, and it is- which is your favourite vehicle in GTA San Andreas?

Well, we have been driving, riding and flying a lot of vehicles since we are into GTA series and now I guess its time to remember which is the vehicle that you liked the most in GTA San Andreas and why?

MY FAVOURITE IS TURISMO:cool:

Motorcycle (Bike means BMX if I understand well) especially the Freeway when I give it the same max speed and acceleration than the PCJ-600.

In single player I don't have much choice, and just grab whichever vehicle is nearby, preferably any motorbike. A motorcycle can climb hills, fall from heights without damage, avoid collisions, shoot straight ahead, overall quite OP, and is easy to get by knocking off the current rider. For slow travel I like the Freeway, which has heavy, insensitive handling. But if I bring a favorite vehicle to a mission, it will just disappear almost always, and that will be the end of it.

Having to choose just one vehicle, my selection would be the SandKing. It is the most universal, it can comfortably travel at slow speed and maintain it, climb slopes, turn tightly out of parking, and match the speed of a moderately fast police car and escape it offroad.

I never drive small vehicles with low mass that respond to input quickly, such as pedalled bikes, faggio or blista. They take much attention to keep them at a steady speed going straight (with keyboard), and they quickly slow down if I take my hands off the buttons to do something else.

I also love it but your choice of destinations is much more limited than with the other land transports.

Voted for bikes, because I'm leaning more toward the quad bikes - although I prefer different mode of transportation depending on the location.

Also getting into a souped-up nice car and driving into the countryside and wilderness listening to radio stations is great too, I love that in addition to train rides.

When GTA SA first came out all I did for the first few times when launching the game was cycling into the countryside, stealing a tractor and just driving this around :D I remember how back then detachable bonnets and bumpers seemed like a something from an outer world.
