San Andreas Nostalgia!

GTA_CAT

I started late, about 2013/14 in my old PS2. Game really caught me, coming from III and VC it was such a big difference... Large map where I could get lost without knowing were to go, gym, clothes, cities, towns and rural areas... Then you can mess things up with cheats and have hilarious moments or weird situations, figuring out you are a Hydra or Hunter military pilot blasting Area 69 SAMs or cars in the road. So much things, it's a game still good despite being released in 2004 and it can offer fun times though.

When I first got gta sa from a friend in class 5th and I started it the first thing I noticed was that it had train tracks. Cj's model was also good. Then when I tried to follow the cj icon, I got lost 😃 and ended up in the mulholland intersection! Then I kept learning its features and was totally surprised when I learnt I could fly planes and helicopters. I have finished it four times already. Good times.

In San Fierro it is super easy to get lost by turning off the hud especially in the city area.

Ahh 2005 on my 256Mb RAM PC, so awful memories ! Finished the game in aprox. 1 month and a half but not 100% ! I just stood all my summer vacation playing this beautiful game ! I remember in July 2005 every day outside was raining, I used to wake up at 10AM then play all day GTA SA 10 hours a day !

14 years later, still a legendary game with more things to do than 90% of newer games.

I used to wake up at 6 AM, just to play it until I had to go to school. Then I'd come home, and play it again for the rest of the day.

I still have the original PS2 disc for it, too bad I can't play it on PS4, so I am stuck with that sh*tty futuristic Hollywood simulator, GTA 5. And I don't enjoy it as much on PC because it lags (even if I have a decent PC, made a topic under support), and it crashes... a lot (Windows 7 is a bitch).

I got San Andreas on my 13th birthday in November 2004. I had only played Vice City for the first time in 2003 so GTA was still very new to me. I still remember getting home and playing it for the first time. One thing that makes it special for me is, despite being from the UK, I have been lucky enough to have visited all 3 cities and the surrounding areas that the game is based on in real life. In 2013 my dad was driving through the desert in Nevada and Freebird came on the radio, that was a special moment as it took me right back to my teenage years and playing this game.

It took me 7 months to complete my first play through but it was a great moment when I finally finished End of the Line in May 2005. I am currently doing a playthrough now and the game still holds up in 2018. It truly is one of the greatest video games of all time.

This is so strange. You practically got the game and finished the exact same times as I did ! The reason it took me so long like you to finish the story was because I had no idea that I did not have to do the casino heist to finish it....and I was stuck on how to get the key card for the heist, not realising I had to date Millie for her to give it to me - at some point I gave up and abandoned the . It was only until my friend told me I had to date Millie that set me on my way to finishing the story after playing the game for like 6 or 7 months lol.

This game.... I started playing it when I was just 7-8. I did not know half the words the people spoke(im an Indian) and did nothing other playing and messing up the peoples. I did not realize it was such a colossal until 2012, when i got the PC disc again and started playing.

I currently own an Xbox One / PS4 & I dont plan on getting beyond that point.

My cousin who never opened his Xbox 360 gave it to me since he had two.

I have 3 GTA San Andreas, yes 3.

So odd I havent had glitches or you know, the ones that drives you insane? That had happened to me on my 360.

His gift to me seems different, dont know.

Anyways, I gave him Gta4 since its a cool game, it just wasnt for me. I do play gta V single player only on xb1 & I decided to put it away for a few Months.

I just started a new play through - added the cheat that opens all stores & amunation. Thats all I use it for, no flying cars or nonsense like that, for me. I start the Firetruck mission, become fire proof & make enough to get a safehouse near the betting shop. Max out the cash to all 999,999. Then I collect the oysters, all cops come after me but it makes dating easy & I dont like changing my character for anyone.

Then, Paramedic mission to get that health. Work on my cycling skills & all hitmen levels up. I never start the story until I do all the leg work first. Head to LS airport & climb over the fence, get the M4, hop on the crop duster plane and fly away From the restricted areas for 1 hour to access airports. It makes life more easier.guess Im the type of gamer to take advantage of what they give you in the middle of or towards the game.

I never start a new game. When I want to play SA again, I reload the beginning where its all set.

Playing this game truly reminds me of how fun, I mean truly a good time fun gta is meant to be.

Jetpack, hey its free for n this game:)

Lowrider Customs, for its time? Brilliant.

Plz forgive my rambling...Guess Im just glad to play a legit classic thats forever lasting.

Nice. I just have two copies of SA, PC and PS2. The PS2 copy is the one just for nostalgia though.

God, I just love this game so f*cking much.

I cannot believe it's been nearly 7 years since its release. I came across one of the

MangaFox the other day and decided that I have to borrow any one of my buddy's old PS2s and a copy of San Andreas if any of them still keep it. Wish me luck.

All this just makes me wish I was 13 again, before the inception of the video games and the consoles that we now know as current-gen.

Moderators, lock this if you must, but I made this thread solely as a celebration of what arguably is the greatest video game ever. What defined my gaming life, and what gave me the fondest of gaming memories that I'll always embrace. All when I was a fresh teenager, some 6 to 7 years ago.

Here's to everyone else who may have had strong San Andreas nostalgias from time to time. Describe your memories, how they make you feel, or simply ramble on like how I would when asked about my favourite video games ever. Cheers.

San Andreas is now one of my favorite if not my most favorite video game. I remember when it first came out. I didn't have any gaming consoles so id have to go to my friends house up the street to play any video games. Id been going there to play vice city with him for a while and i really loved it. wed take turns driving around listening to v-rock and flying tanks with the flying cars cheat. But one day he was all excited cause he got San Andreas. At first i wasn't pleased cause we just messed around with cheats that at the time i found pointless. and all the shininess of vice city was gone. But after a while, after exploring Mount Chiliad and the dessert. I loved it. Now i have a 360, PC and psp and i have every gta (except advance) from gta III to gta bogt. But the vast maps and fun missions of San Andreas are still number one to me. (holy crap i ramble)

Most of my gaming hours were spent on GTA: San Andreas. What a great game! So many memories.

Chasing Tenpenny while listening to K. Rose - One Step Forward... so nostalgic.

Killing an enemy using the kickboxing moves is largely funnier than the hand-to-hand technics the previous games offer.

Rolling from the outskirts of Los Santos to the bottom of the desert driving a truck is very agreable and brings a very enjoyable freedom sensation. It's a good way to enjoy the width of the map. Performing this kind of job in a simple city wouldn't be as funny.

The ability to earn million dollars in a single bet from the game start in the inside track is a very good feature. It's an excellent mean to enjoy all the improvements San Andreas offers compared to Vice City like improving cars or enjoying houses that aren't just nice exteriors you can't visit.

This song matches San Fierro's atmosphere marvelously well.

Funny but I had this song on driving first time to aventuras in the sunset, still remember after all these years, so many great memories of this game

Fun fact: K-Rose always fit the country's atmosphere. I always hearing One Step Forward when i want to travel from Los Santos to a very far place like Verdant Meadows.

K-DST always fit with Bone County and Tierra Robada's atmosphere. I always open WCTR in Las Venturas too. So much memories in game. Now i want to play it back because i still have the game lol.

I'm surprised I haven't posted a proper reply here. I posted in many other similar topics though.

My most memorable moments in SA:

- Tenpenny dropping you off in Angel Pine. Great storywriting, had a huge impact on me (a wee teenager back then), leaving a bustling city behind and starting a new life in a quiet village

- Looking for myths. There were too many to mention, but I had amazing time looking for them.

- Approaching SF for the first time in the hippie van.

- Driving a pick up truck through the countryside, empty road ahead with "I love a rainy night" on a radio, and it actually raining

- Sunset over (or rather under) Oram bridge. Spectacular.

I bought myself PS2 the other week together with a collection of GTAs; and here I was saying for many years that I will never buy a console. My only purpose of buying it was to re-live my first moment breathing in the hot LS air. So far it's been going great - I'm running around, doing odd missions, but mainly looking for tags and spraying them. SO far found 50 out of 100, but discovered so many places I forgot about. All that in a glorious orange evening glow.

Man when Tenpenny dropped me at angel pine and he told me:in the middle of f*cking nowhere! I actually felt it. The whole section between LS and SF actually made me FEEL I'm lost and in middle of f*cking nowhere. No video game has ever done this to me.

-Driving at full speed listening to ''A Horse with No Name'' on the highway.

-Having a brawl with the police at the countryside gas station while they drive into the pumps.

-Driving the train full speed. Watching it come off the tracks. Making a barricade of cars and driving into them.

I thought about buying myself a PS2 just to play some old GTA games and few other favorite games. I don't even know if I should get a refurbished, fat or slim (I think I had the fat) buy used or new. Any ideas?
