Hi everyone,

A friend of mine want's to buy GTA IV, but he doesn't know if his pc can run it.

He says it does, because it's an old game sigh.gif. But I doubt it.

I want to see what you guys think of it

AMD Athlon II X2 215 @ 2.7 GHz

Club 3D GeForce GT 220 (Club 3D site)

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

3 GB of RAM

But:

  • I'm going to make a commandline.
  • I'm going to use patch 1.0.4.0
  • He's not going to use ENB.
  • He will use car mods, trainer, map mods etc.
  • His max resolution is 1024x768
So, what do you think?

Thanks in advance,

Exxon

I think he could run this game on low/minimum settings.

What's the Vram? If it is at least 512MB dedicated, you should have no problems running the game...especially since you don't plan on using the latest patch-I have read that the latest patch is more of a resource hog, but have not confirmed it yet.? The 3GB of Ram might struggle a little with the game though, since you have a 64-bit OS, so adding another 1GB stick(around $20 now a days) to make 4GB, and you should be good to go...HTH.

OverTheBelow

At a resolution of 1280x720 or below on lowest graphics, it might possibly be able to keep a stable 35fps or more.

But that is not the way the game is meant to be played, srsly. tounge.gif

Mixing RAM sets isn't a guarantee that the system will work fine. Also, mixing different sizes of RAM might make the system unstable. Source: I asked Corsair support when I was purchasing sticks for a PC

@YankeesPwnMets How do you think this system will run it? Beware of those dots in the first post of me (not the comments).

He should be able to run the game fine on low settings but it can handle only a limited number of mods without affecting gameplay. Although, I don't recommend installing any mods at all if you have a weak system.

but i built a computer with the same processor before with an onboard geforce 9300

HORRIBLE performance in GTA IV, plus blue screens while playing -- the main reason i haven't activated my windows 7 install this time, even with the original GT5636e motherboard
