What's happenin forum?

To avoid spam like the one we just experienced. Ruining LA Noire's story.

We could have moderators approve topics before being officially posted on the forum it would help remove spam and locking made easy.

Thank you.

Vertical Limit.

That really wouldn't work at all.

For one thing, the mods would be absolutely swamped with work when they sign on.

Do you realize how many topics are posted here each day? Having moderators approve each one would be ridiculous.

Yeah, it sucks having to deal with trolls like that, but that's just part of the internet. Just report them when it happens, and wait for a staff member to deal with them.

As it stands, there's pretty much only one way to permanently avoid spam, but you probably wouldn't want to do it.

Which would be not going on the forums, in some aspects Vertical Limit's idea sounds great but it'd be a lot of work for the mods. But maybe it could motivate people to not post boring topics too.

I understand, it was spoiled for a lot of people, but why punish everyone for the actions of one?

Just imagine the amount of angry topics there would be here, people would bitch about their topics not being approved quick enough, or at all.

Then all the topics about their topics not being approved would have to be approved, and so on...

I think "a lot of work" is an understatement.

Meaning that it's overused and just thrown out there a lot?

Meaning that it's more like "an impossible amout of work".

I see where you are going here.

If they make an additional topic regarding why it took them so long or somothing like it this what should be done:

- An unofficial warning that doesn't go in the member log.

- Official warning.

- A short temp ban.

- A long temp ban.

Then you know what happens next.

I am pretty sure if they want to stay in the forums they are going to stop and it doesn't have to be that specific area moderator, it could be any moderator, admin or perhaps a person from a specific group.

I don't think we need changes like this because of the actions of some idiot posting spoilers and fat chicks. But it does suck that he spoiled the game for a few people. But this is the internet, and you enter at your own risk, especially on a message board like this. We just gotta wait it out.

Some how I think this metaphor works.

If you give a man a fish, he will be fed for one day.

But

If you teach him how to fish, he will be fed everday.

I don't understand how that even makes sense in relation to this subject.

Well you know how the saying goes:

"You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink."

Waiting for a mod's approve for a topic would mean more work for the mods and also means topics can only be posted when mods are online.

I suggest, though the idea came from someone in the OGA (to lazy to find who) that you only post one topic whatever the time scale would be. Kinda like how you only can post one post ever minute do to flood control. Something like 30 minutes or more would work.
