Just installed GTA-SA on my PC.

Works ok.

Updated to version 1.01 .

Works perfect.

Installed Cleo 3.

Game crashes !!

But when i copy the original VorbisFile.dll file back into the game folder, then run it again, everything is ok again, but the Cleo stuff don't work.

So what is wrong with this Cleo ?

BTW - Same thing happens when i install Cleo 4. devil.gif

i had that problem when i started using cleo mods

i solved my problem by downloading a gta_sa_compact.exe

then put that in your san andreas FILES (NOT user) folder adn DO NOT replace the orignal gta_sa.exe and you dont need a disk for compact.exe

also if you find out where to download (i forgot but i can look) the password to it is C ehicle (CV must be caps or it wont open)

also i think CLEO only runs on GTA San Andreas V1.0 not V1.01 or V1.1 downgrade it and see how it works with that (V1.0 is the best to mod and some mods rely on V1.0 like MTA or SA-MP)

Please keep all modding questions to the modding forums, next time onwards.

You're right. Compact EXE is the best for modding, including CLEO.

Still no joy, i'm afraid...........

First of all, uninstalled, then re-installed GTA-SA. Now i'm back to ver. 1.0 ;

D/loaded gta_sa_compact.exe and added that to GTA-SA folder.

Installed Sannybuilder from its website, then installed Cleo 3 at the prompts;

Now this is maybe where the probs start.

I looked inside the newly created Cleo folder in the GTA-SA root folder.

THERE'S NOTHING IN IT !! mercie_blink.gifmercie_blink.gifmercie_blink.gifmercie_blink.gif

wHAT'S GOING ON THERE ??

In the end, i had to copy files from a Cleo folder i'd d/loaded from somewhere else, which probably caused a conflict with versions of Cleo.

The good news is that Cleo worked.

Bad news is it will only work with the examples it came with !! sarcasm.gifconfused.gif

uninstall EVERYTHING, including your user files... and then try a fresh install..

This time, choose a new directory.. i.e. DIRECTLY onto the C:\ drive...

(like: C:\GTAVC)

Ok, just go back with version 1.0 (but I think version 1.1 works fine) and do these things:

Solution # 1

1. Install Cleo 3 or 4

2. Press Start button then click Run

3. type "systempropertiesperformance" (without the quotes)

4. Goto DataExecutionPrevention tab then click add

5. Locate your GTA San Andreas folder (Ex. "C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas")

6. Click on gta_sa.exe

7. Click Apply then OK

8. Tell us if it worked

Solution # 2

Use a US no/cd crack biggrin.gif

a compact.exe is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than a no CD crack

most cleo mods need new skins so you might need IMG Tool 2.0 to insert the skins

Solution 1

Problem is NOT with gta_sa.exe

Have tried that suggestion, but there's no noticeable difference.

I usually turn off the anti-virus beforehand in any case.

Solution 2

That may have to be the next option.

The last time Cleo worked 100% (about 2 yrs ago), it was on a no-cd crack version with cheats, but since moving home, that dvd has gone missing, and the hard drive it was installed on has gone down.

At the mo, i'm using gta_sa_compact.exe, and at least i'm now able to get much further than before, and actually play the game.
