Official General
@ sibs44 I don't know if you are aware, but I actually created this same topic on the GTA IV section a good few months back. I had stated the very same thing that you are saying. I too noticed that the graphics for the PS3 version of GTA IV: The Complete Edition looked slightly better than the original (2008) GTA IV game itself. The reduced blurriness in the background was one thing I definitely noticed in the PS3 Complete Edition, and the graphics in general looked a bit more sharper and polished than the original 2008 version. However there were a number other guys that commented in my topic that disagreed with me, saying that my claims were nonesense and I was just seeing things, and how the two versions looked exactly the same with no real difference. They also stated that I was experiencing the 'placebo effect'. I tried telling them several times that there is a difference, as I had both versions to compare for myself so I knew what I was talking about. In the end I just gave up and did'nt bother with them. There were also many guys in my topic that did agree me with aswell though. I'm glad you can see this - now the rest of those fools can see that I was not exactly making this up or 'seeing things' like they stated. The Complete Edition of GTA IV definitely looks better than the original 2008 version of GTA IV, there is no doubt about that. If you are bringing up this topic for a second time on here months after I first did it, thats certainly saying something. œaœa
@ Mr. Moffat I do not see the flicker filter but that is only because I am playing this on an HDTV. I did, however, play on my SDTV and yes the flicker filter was there and it did make a difference when it was turned off. @ Official General I did not see your topic on this. But I too am also glad you see this! Whoever was disagreeing with you, they probably didn't even own that version of the game. It was one of the first things I noticed when I got it yesterday

It was one of the first things I noticed when I got it yesterday Yeah man, I had these fools disagreeing with me, and yet I own both versions to check and see the differences myself ! I got the GTA IV: Complete Edition for my PS3 because I wanted all 3 games on one disc, I did'nt like the swapping of discs. I traded in my GTA IV: Episodes for the Complete Edition but I still kept the original 2008 GTA IV copy (my brother has that one for his own PS3 now). There definitely is a difference, I noticed that straight away as soon as I first played the Complete Edition when I bought it. The Complete Edition just looks better than the original, end of. I've recently played all 3 games over again and completed them so I know what I'm talking about.

Mr.Moffat
I knoow I don't have the complete edition, but I just find it very hard to believe that R* would just go and upgrade gta4 for what is essentially just a repackaging, plus woul'nt they have said that they improved it? that prob would have boosted a sales abit if people thoght it was improved, plus this is the only place on the web that has mentioned this. I do believe something is up, but I may have a theory, Im sure its something to do with the filter onscreen. think about bogt sharpened up the graphics and the ps3 version is all on one disk, so maybe the bogt filter is combined with gta4? The xbox version gta4 is on a seperate disk and I have'nt seen anyone say iif that version is better.
Magic_Al
With the Xbox 360 version it's pretty certain they just put the same two discs that were previously sold separately in the one box with new labels. There was no pressing need to do any more work than that. The PS3 version required some work to put on one disc because all the files had to coexist without conflict and there had to be a menu to choose which game to start. The question is whether they did anything else while they were in there.

While some work was needed, it was defo the BARE minimum, I mean the music was'nt even combined and that stupid load glitch was still present, I serisly think its just the the filter that was used for gta4 was replaced by the sharper one in bogt. Ash_735
This topic again? Man, I need to see what people think is "better graphics" because these files are f*cking identical. Seriously, can someone point out what file is different on this disc that apparently changes the graphics, most of these have the same modified date. Even that screenshot Genral posted it looked the same with the only thing different being the dirt placement.

Look at L.A.Noire, it looks better on PS3 because Team Bondi actually spent time on their PS3 engine unlike Rockstar did with RAGE during GTA IV and RDR. Just because it was released a year before the PS3 doesn't mean it has to have a weaker GPU, newer doesn't mean better, it is already proven that the 360 is more powerful so there is no need for debate. The 360 has a slightly more powerful GPU than the PS3. The equivalents are roughly a Geforce 7900 for the 360 and a 7800 for the PS3. Not that much more powerful in that aspect. The PS3's SPU is more reminiscent of GPU architecture than CPU though and is capable of much more than the RAGE engine has taken advantage of. And did someone mention that the 360 had more RAM? Well, it has 512mb shared video and system RAM whilst the PS3 has dedicated 256mb for both. However, the PS3's system RAM is at crazy frequencies despite its small quantity. Basically, it's hard to tell. It never ran like crap for me even with the original version. Or you're just trolling. Personally I think that <30FPS is 'running like crap'. Official General
Here we go again. It is an accepted fact in the gaming industry that the PS3 is a more powerful machine overall than the 360. When you add up the all total specs and capabilities of both machines, the PS3 is definitely the more powerful machine. PS3 exclusive games like Uncharted series, God of War 3, Metal Gear Solid 4 and Heavy Rain prove this. Certain games on the PS3 simply cannot be made in the same way on the 360 without having to comprise the size, memory and visual quality of the game itself. The PS3 is a more powerful machine, but its not 'way more' powerful than a 360. I'm not gonna get all nerdy and start quoting different specs, but most gamers should know this already, and if you don't you are just being in denial.
