GTAfan421
I just wanted to bring attention to something that has frustrated the crap out of me since the beginning of May, and that is the fact that I bought GTA IV again (I have the 360 version) on PC just to have mods...but the Steam version doesn't work with Xliveless or ASIloader, or tools of that nature, and since Steam has its own patches (something I didnt know before purchasing it on Steam), I was wondering if anyone will be doing versions of the FileCheck fixes for the Steam version any time soon? I don't want to sound like a jerk, its just Ive been pulling my hair out trying to figure out a way to mod it without RE-BUYING retail, as it's still thirty five dollars at the Wal-Mart near my house, and I've already spent three weeks of saved up pay on the complete edition on Steam (forty something USD). If it werent for Gas prices, I would go to Wal Mart and buy it right now, but I cant afford it. Kucikuc24
OMG...Asi Loader works with all version just great...you have to only turn off UAC and change security permisions of game directory to full access...

Well, I wish that were true, but it doesn't work with the Steam version, because Ive tried to get that or Xliveless working too many times to count at this point. Symbiote
I know Steam's auto-patching has been a problem for people here, but I hadn't heard of ASI loaders not working with it. Not sure what to tell you though, since I don't have the Steam version.
Kucikuc24
Asi Loader work great with all versions of GTA IV and with steam version of Warhammer 40,000 too
Symbiote
If you still can't get it working, could you describe in detail what you've tried and what happens (error messages, crashes, etc.)?
GTAfan421
If you still can't get it working, could you describe in detail what you've tried and what happens (error messages, crashes, etc.)? I put in all the files, do run as administrator on LaunchGTAIV.exe and then an error that pretty much looks like this comes up: "Sorry, but this version of GTA IV is not supported Supported Versions: 1.0.1us, 1.0.2us, 1.0.3us, 1.0.4us, and 1.0.0.4" Wish I could do screen caps, but I don't have the software, and I cant really be bothered to get some right this minute. Anyhow, I'm pretty much guessing that it really is a version issue at this point, because it did an auto-patch the day I first played it. And I turned UAC off, and my anti-virus is disabled as well. I cant figure it out. Ive been practically slamming my head against the wall trying to get it to work. Also, I get the Social club thing coming up every time too. I'm quite a Noob at this crap right now, but it makes me angry, because I had such an easy time with San Andreas. Symbiote
That error message couldn't have come from Xliveless, because it supports up to version 1.0.7.0. So I would recommend making sure that the latest version of Xliveless (v0.999b7) is the ONLY mod installed. That should work, and then you can add other mods one-by-one, launching the game after each new mod to make sure it still works.

YankeesPwnMets
I think there is a feature in Steam that creates an ISO (Virtual Disk Installer) version of the game. Try to install it from the ISO File instead of directly from Steam.
DX-FMJ
GTAfan421 your an idiot, read the f*cking instructions on the ASI loader page before you complain! http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=380830 You obviously have the EFC20FIX.asi installed, which you are not supposed to have because like the modders instructions say "Supports only GTA IV v 1.0.3, 1.0.4, 1.0.0.4" Remove the EFC20FIX.asi from your main GTAIV folder. And before you start more sh*t, I have the steam version and my game works fine with mods/mod loaders etc, so the problem is between the chair and the keyboard. Did I not say I was a Noob at modding GTAIV?! What did I ever do to deserve that kind of response? I asked a simple question. Nothing more, nothing less Richard, so how bout you just calm down. The only one starting anything is you... Plus I had already fixed the problem thanks to YankeespwnMets. Jeez. EDIT: Oh yeah, I tried your way...IT DOESN'T WORK. I didn't have the damn EFC crap in there to boot, so shut up. Edited May 30, 2011 by GTAfan421
