GTAfan421
I just wanted to bring attention to something that has frustrated the crap out of me since the beginning of May, and that is the fact that I bought GTA IV again (I have the 360 version) on PC just to have mods...but the Steam version doesn't work with Xliveless or ASIloader, or tools of that nature, and since Steam has its own patches (something I didnt know before purchasing it on Steam), I was wondering if anyone will be doing versions of the FileCheck fixes for the Steam version any time soon? I don't want to sound like a jerk, its just Ive been pulling my hair out trying to figure out a way to mod it without RE-BUYING retail, as it's still thirty five dollars at the Wal-Mart near my house, and I've already spent three weeks of saved up pay on the complete edition on Steam (forty something USD). If it werent for Gas prices, I would go to Wal Mart and buy it right now, but I cant afford it.

mkey82
They have GTAIV sales like every few months on Steam, I believe you could have bough the complete edition for $8 a few weeks back. Anyway, GTAIV on Steam does work with xliveless, you just need the latest version - xliveless Also, this http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=471976
radioman
If you are into modding, you are better off returning the Steam version and getting your money back, then go get the Retail (DVD) version-I just checked, and it is only $14.96 at Wal-Mart. So, you must have been listing the price for the Console versions rather than the PC version. I checked two Wal-Mart stores, and they are both $14.96(and this is in a Tourist area, where things are normally higher-lol). So, this is the cheapest and easiest route to get a copy that will be moddable. So, as you can see, the Retail version is cheaper than the Steam version. You are just paying for conveniance when you buy downloads(this is why it is higher 9 times out of 10). Also, make sure your AV/Firewall programs are not blocking the Mod tools. GTAfan421
When I went to Wal-Mart about three or four days ago I think, I was in the PC section, and I looked and saw it was still 35.99 USD. Maybe the price was wrong? Either way, I'm an idiot because I didnt check to make sure that my Anti Virus was off too, so good call on that one. mkey82
The only reason why downloadable games are *usually* more expensive is due to sh*tty policy which wants to keep the poor old retailers in business.
