geomy
funny thing is, I've seen worse on family guy and I bet he doesn't go after that now does he? hypocrites, the whole lot of them. That's one of my points. If it was on a movie or TV show, this topic wouldn't exist, because I wouldn't have an article to ask people about. The issue isn't what was said, bu that it was said in a E-rated rated game, parallel to a G-rated movie. The script in question would never make it into a G-rated movie, and shouldn't have been included in an E-rated game. Let's point the finger in the right direction here - Valve isn't to blame, neither is the father of the adopted or the media; blame the ESRB. Mati
People just can't see that video games aren't toys for kids. There's nothing wrong with that quote, he wasn't talking to the kid after all..
Robinski
To be fair, I don't think Portal 2 should have been rated E because of the amount of dark/morbid humour and themes. But that was all implied and rather subtle, so it would've been hard to justify a higher rating from the rating's board with solid evidence. There's also the fact that it would indeed fly over the heads of most young children anyway, leaving only the fat gags about an orphan as standing out. The game was rated as E10 meaning for ten year old and up, this is like the PG rating in movies. Formerly known as The General
Lethal Nizzle
I watched a walkthrough on Portal 2 and the floating robot (excuse my lack of knowledge, the one played by Stephen Merchant) says something along the lines of "people with brain damage are the real heros". Surprised that hasn't been picked up, as harmless as it is.
Sam998
Alright first of all, as we are all on the Grand Theft Auto forums, we probably have the same views on this issue at least in terms of what should be done to the developers (nothing) or if it should be banned or not (it shouldn't). And while I think the father is bitching too much about it, his point about it being rated E is at least a valid point. I don't think you can pull out the whole "video games aren't for kids argument" when E rated games are for "6+". I assume that the has the designation "Crude Humor" in the space where all of those specifications go, on the back of the box. (if anyone doesn't know what I'm talking about look at the back of your GTA list and it will have quite a few examples )
TheBlackProject
This is absolutely f*cking stupid, it's sad that in America today just about anyone can take advantage to be on the news (celebrities, conservative activists like Jack Thompson, etc). There are way worse things said in GTA and in real life, someone in GTA could say the N word but a black guy playing GTA won't call R* to tell them they got offended. People need to stop taking sh*t seriously because it's a game, it's not intended to offend anyone. Even if the joke is inaccurate it's still just a joke and nothing more or less than it. Neal Stapel, please grow some balls. (also I haven't bought Portal 2 yet so nobody spoil it)

Whoops! In all seriousness though, this trash 'report' is unbelievable and I can't fathom why this is classed as news in the US. The entire thing is taken out of context too. Blizzard14
WBTV contacted Sony, who we thought distributed the game. As it turns out they only make Portal 2 available on their console. Gareth Alan Willmer
Another case of video games being scrutinized by the media. Had this been a movie, the article wouldn't have been written. Just interested to see your views on this. News Report There will be one of these days when the games developers and its customers will of had enough of this and will all get together to file a class action lawsuit or even start a class action boycott against the media. Once that happened the media would back off. In my opinion this looks like to me that the media are purposely finding story's and trying to make them into a big deal with the hope this will generate them some business or even viewers, readers website traffic etc. This is why they are targeting a popular video game. They want all the people who bought that game and other games to stop buying the games and probably both all watch there channel or visit there website then use that money, people would of saved not buying the game and subscribing to there services or buy products from the ads of there tv channels, websites etc. That way the media makes money of that. Isn't it amazing how desperate and types of dirty tactics the media will use when they are not making enough revenue for themselves that they will actually go after popular video games and do reports on them as scare tactics so that people wont buy the games but use there money to buy the medias crap instead. Makes me sick knowing how the media do reports like this and get away without any penalty's given to them. All these attacks on games are is because the media isn't happy with the large chunk of profits they already make. Sorry if you disagree with this post or find it offensive i tell it how i see it and this post has all my opinion only.
Fnorg
Ever heard of this thing called free speech, Gareth? Sorry, but you can't sue the media for interpreting dialog poorly.
