Niilo789
I installed my GTA SA(bought a while ago) after having to reboot my computor, i installed it, played it in two different sessions, working fine. Now it won't start. I insert my CD, it starts spinning, but it never opens. I unistalled it and re installed it, but the same thing has happened. I have never used mods or cheats. I beat the game to 100%(took about 1 and a half to 2 years) before having to reboot my Asus GAMING Laptop. Plz help so i can get playing again and i don't want to buy a new once since i don't think they sell them any more where i am. Computor specs: OS: Windows 7 Premiun I have ATI RADEON Video/Graphics card type and 512 MB graphics memory I think i have a Premium VISION AMD 4GB of RAM Edited May 18, 2011 by Niilo789
kmlwin.1996
Ways to solve problem 1. Run your game in Windows 98 compatibility mode. 2. Delete gta_sa.set file in GTA SA User Files Folder in My Documents. 3. Check for overheating. 4. Check the CD is working or not. 5. Download some patches from internet and install into game. I recommend V 1.01. Good Luck. If it not working, just pm me or post here.

lil weasel
Don't install the V1.01 patch, as it removes the ability to Mod. Get the game working first then you can consider doing it if necessary. Inspect the DVD for scratches or greasy fingerprints before doing anything.

lil weasel
However, any save games completed using Mods might not play without them.

That was before i had to re boot my whole compoter because of a corrupt OS. If i hadn't rebooted my computer it would not remove my 100% complate game. Since I had to ReBoot it, i have to start over. Niilo789
2. Delete gta_sa.set file in GTA SA User Files Folder in My Documents. If i delete it, wat will happen? will it still be on the GTA SA CD?
lil weasel
Reboot merely means to restart the computer. Restore means to reinstall the Operating System, which may overwrite/delete files. Deleteing the GTA_SA.set file: This file contains OS data, such as screen resolution, video/audio driver configs, your Custom game settings (key assignments), etc. This file is created/updated at the End of each gaming session. radioman
Thanks. about the rebooting, i meant using a rebooting cd, that restores the original computer items. every thing else that i had downloaded/installed was deleted. If you had backed everything up using an External Hard Drive OR DVD's, you could have still had ALL your game saves and files. Just a heads up. 5. Download some patches from internet and install into game. I recommend V 1.01. That only works with V1 of the game-V2 and V3 already has the fixes that the patch works for. Just a friendly heads up. Also, What Kind of Processor do you have? What is the Processor Speed? What is your Video card? What is the VRAM? Do you have any No-DVD cracks? Also, is this V1 or V2 of the game? Since you mentioned 1 1/2 to 2 years, it is most likely V2, as V1 stopped being sold in June of 2005.(this is when I bought my Original copy, and it was V2). To find out this info., go to Start, Type in DXDIAG into the Search box(if Vista/7) OR Run if XP and Press Enter, the first screen will show your Processor, OS, Ram info, and the Display tab will show your Video card info. Spider-Vice
Attention that with v1.01 you can't mod your game anymore, as said by lil weasel above.
