Ehhhh, I mean it was either a one-two episode appearance or no appearance at all. McShane has made it clear he only accepted to be on the show because he knew it was a minor role that didn't last long. Just the very fact that he played this Septon Ray made me like the character a bunch more so I can appreciate the casting choice personally.

So much is hinting towards LSH at the end of the season but I am so hesitant to get my hopes up.

So Asha is a lesbian?

correct me if I'm wrong; but everyone in this show appears to at least be bisexual...

Not really. But it seemed they made her a lesbian or bisexual just for the f*ck of it. Or maybe just to have that scene with Theon and talk about his lost dick.

so you want to spend valuable screen time watching them physically travel from place to place?

You don't need to have travel scenes to have better flow of time on either an episode to episode basis or overall season.

Just as an example, the flow would have been much improved if there'd been some time passing in the Hound's scenes (eluded to by progress made on the building). It's a minor gripe at best, anyway.

Overall I liked it, it was a shorter episode than usual but I much preferred the pacing between each of the "segments", it didn't feel like there was too much packed in (though the travelling is a bit silly as Coin has mentioned, walking right up to Bear Island like it isn't really far off the coast and then back at the base between the Wall and Winterfell, lol).

Ian McShane was cool, he fit right in the GoT world, shame that bit of lightheartedness ended in off-screen slaughter. It set a different tone for BwB, in the TV world I thought they protected people? Seemed a bit merciless? killing them instead of just stealing their goods, perhaps I just have a different impression of them since it's been a while they've been in the show.

Yara being a lesbian, not surprising since it was obviously her in the early trailers, don't care for it enough to make it noteworthy, though if I hear the word "ass" in this show one more time, lol... it feels so out of place, even with all the other cursing, it's like it's too modern.

Any thoughts that stabbed Arya is actually Jaqen? I don't think all is as it seems here, she lost her sight for killing Trant, but he allows the waif to go and kill her off because she chooses to leave? It's suspicious I think, as if he's testing the waif herself and now she's failed by killing without a reason. I don't know, maybe reading too much into it.

Lyanna Mormont was a little badass! A strong will, as expected from a bear, lolled at the 62 men. Davos was good with her because of Shireen I guess, I thought he was about to find her pyre/ashes at the wilding base, but maybe that'll be next episode. I'm not feeling positive for operation Stark. Sansa seems to be writing off to Littlefinger so the knights of the Vale will end up saving the day, but without the support of the northern houses what next? Jon / Sansa aren't as good at rallying as they seemed to think they'd be, it's going to take something special.

A bit odd that, yes. Could be that show!BwB has taken on some of the Brave Companions material from Dance?

I've seen the theory, and the 'mysterious Jaqen' (yes, that's a thing) music was playing at the time, but I dunno. The whole waif thing has sat wrong with me the entire season; for someone who is supposed to be No One, she sure seems not to be at least as far as Arya is concerned. "A shame, a girl has many talents" my pet theory when Jaqen said that last(sp?) episode is that he was referring to the Waif, not Arya. Maybe we're giving too much credit to the writers? :p

Might not come as a surprise, but I wasn't a fan of Davos being the one to rally people, especially Northern lords (or ladies). Made Jon look bad IMO; He convinced people to bring the traitors to justice, he convinced people to risk going to Hardhome and he's got the Wildlings on his side more than once (among others). Not only that but Jon's seen the sh*t talks about first hand. Lyanna was a badass regardless though and I did enjoy the irony of Bear Island only having so many fighting men for all the hassle she put them through (but if Ramsay only needs 20 good men, imagine what these 62 can do!).

Unrelated but the Jaime in the Riverlands parts of the episode were great too.

remember, apparently Bear Island men account for 10 of every ordinary yokel.

so we're talking 600 badassmofos.

the little girl who played lady Mormont basically stole the show.

I feel sorry for Arya, RIP

are you daft?

did you even watch the whole episode?

I did. My point is, I have no idea who would help her in middle of city where everyone just stare at her.

And having her stomach slit and also stabbed. So I do not see her having a big chance.

But, as we know, that even if Arya is going to be killed, it might be in next season.

Yeah the whole Arya scene is hard to swallow. She should be dead.

But.. if the producers's intent was killing her, then she would have died right there when she got stabbed. She obviously escaped for a reason. Its not her time yet.

It's an act, she got stabbed on purpose and left a bread-crumb blood trail for the Waif to follow :) The only thing that is dead is the Dorne story-line.

Which is kind of silly when you consider her wounds are (or should be) actually worse than what Jon's were ffs.

Well, I've heard more obscene theories like there are multiple Arya's and/or the Waif is actually Arya.

But think about it. Why was Arya walking around in public view and so openly, why did she not have needle to protect herself when she knew that she blew her last chance? Why was there so much emphasis on her being so open, and and unusually long shot on the blood drops? She got stabbed in her abdomen so many time yet was still able to walk around. Seems iffy to me.

I dunno why we're making such a big deal out of it.

Arya arc seems pretty straight forward.

maybe the show could benefit from applying more consistency to the survival rate of certain stab wounds, but who cares. however she did it; a girl got stabbed and a girl is still alive.

did you guys watch the 30-second NEXT WEEK ON feature after the episode?

the sneak peak clearly shows Arya from behind, leaping from a ledge into the streets of Braavos like an assassins creed guy descending on a victim. she escaped the Waif and she's about to get revenge. or something along those lines.

maybe the whole thing was on purpose.

maybe Arya set this sh/t up in order to expose the Waif to Jaquen and prove how much she's actually learned.

Obviously Arya is going to be alive. But that was some violent stabbing right in her guts and not to mention that slash the waif did at the start. Arya is a tiny person. All that blood she's lost.. she should be dead meat.

It reminds me of how Robb's wife got murdered at the red wedding. Cant remember how many times she got stabbed though.

I hope Arya had a plan or something, otherwise this sh*t is pretty dumb. Parading in the streets with no weapon when you've got assassins who can change faces hunting you.

Episode 9 is confirmed to be titled "Battle of the Bastards" and is 60 minutes long, and Episode 10 is titled "The Winds of Winter" and is a whopping 69 minutes long, with both being directed by the same guy who did last years Hardhome.

Some pics from the upcoming Episode 8 http://watchersonthewall.com/new-photos-game-thrones-season-6-episode-8-no-one/#more-67851

We may have had some complaints for season 6 but colour me hypppppppppppped for the final few weeks!

I have a feeling that Arya's either got some help or some tips from the actors.

Did anyone else feel weird when Bronn mentioned the Unsullied? I was like, 'the f*ck does he know, or care, about them?'. I guess they need to wise a fella up for witty repartee.

Some seriously fantastic scenery and world building in this episode. Felt epic, and yeah, probably added to the feeling of magical travelling. Although, the award for fastest on-screen travelling this year goes hands down to Star Wars. :p

Maybe I'm being petty here - spoilered it to spare the cynicism. :p

The sets and art direction were stunning and let down only by the manufactured f*cking symphonies. Holy sh*t, has the music taken a left turn for the absolute trash lately. It was soooo corny to hear a corny Hobbiton inspired digital rendition of the theme when Clegane was revealed. What's the story there? They run out of money? Particularly stood out at Jon's meeting with the Wildlings and Jamie's march on Riverrun

Oooh, also. knew Margery was pullin' a religious fast one.

yeah, you had to see that sh/t coming a mile away.

there's no way Marg had a true change of heart. she was clearly up to something when she finally got to meet with Tommen. wasn't sure what exactly, but it's cool to know that she's playing the long-con / deep undercover game.

Septa Unella was giving her the eye though, I think she's suspicious, I don't think this act is going to last long at all.

Did anyone else also get the creeps when the High Sparrow was telling Margaery she needs to give the king an heir? It's mentioned with every marriage in this show, but he kinda looked like he enjoyed the thought too much. I don't trust him.

High Sparrow seems to want to secure (what he thinks is) his new alliance with the Crown. maybe he's just taking Marg at her word and doesn't see the deception yet. it feels like he wants to manipulate the king and perhaps assumed that he was going to use Marg in order to facilitate this plan. historically - in reality - the church has always attempted to align itself with kings and queens and royal authority, sometimes to the point of near usurpation.

Septa Unella being there is because the High Sparrow doesn't quite buy into Margaery's defection just yet, IMO.

I don't think the act is going to last long either, because...

I've got a feeling that King's Landing is going up in flames, courtesy of Cersei and her rather large stash of wildfire.

yeah f/ck that hole.

I hated her character and the actress from day 1

like nothing personal, but she was really useless. Jac is a cool guy, but the Waif was a waste of time. really enjoying Arya's progression though otherwise. this is pretty much exactly what I was hoping would happen with her arc.

The Hound parts were good. Most of Riverrun too. Rest of the episode though....

King's Landing

Why are the show characters so f*cking stupid?

Cersei is on trial for INCEST. It literally makes no sense for Tommen to outlaw trial by combat. It literally makes no sense for Kevan Lannister, Mace Tyrell or even Pycelle to support and push through such a decision. It's in all of their interests that Cersei win such a trial. The trial as-is probably won't even actually happen but that doesn't justify this level of stupidity.

Nevermind that the whole trial by combat thing was kind of started by the faith in the first place xD

I suppose the silver lining is it all seems to confirm my Cersei wildfire nuke prediction... not much of a silver lining though.

Mereen

Oh hey, more forced conversation between Tyrion, Missandei and Grey Worm. Just what the doctor ordered.

Oh hey, Mereen is under siege now.

And now Dany's back.

What was the point of even doing the siege plotline when you're not bothering to add any tension to make it impactful. You could have skipped the siege entirely in this episode and had Dany walk in, to the exact same effect.

(The bad parts of Riverrun)

Way to tease book readers with all the Brienne x Jaime subtly then throw in the "Waaah I love Cersei, gonna kill everyone to get back to her" sh*t. f*ck off

Having the Blackfish effectively commit suicide was dumb. Having him die off screen is even worse.

Pointless trip but hey, at least Brienne gets to keep the sword that is ACTUALLY THE f*ckING STARK'S AND NOT JAIME'S ANYWAY. :barf:

Arya

Arya wasn't using blood bags. The Waif wasn't Arya. Arya wasn't the Waif. Jacqen wasn't Arya. Nope, Arya was Arya and apparently Arya is f*cking stupid too. Sigh.

At least this is over with and she's headed home...

I agree this episode was like 75% useless.

but the Hound and Arya alone pretty much made up for it.

like you know, I don't know what happens in the books obviously, but I just enjoy the fact that she went through her trials or whatever and learned some deadly skills that she can apply on her path to vengeance back home. or something along those lines. having had no other expectations, it works for me. that being said, a lot of the episode felt like a waste. they should've just gone back to Bran & Benj or Sam or Theon.

what did we spend 60 minutes to learn?

everything with Jamie and the Blackfish was interesting but the climax was total sh/t. the legendary Fish dies without spectacle. the wine and the jokes with Tyrion and Co were cringe worthy. I kept checking the time like "omg where is this going??" if the city is going to be attacked just let it happen immediately as Dany lands on the roof. AND SCENE. I enjoy watching the Mountain literally faceroll people, but everything that occurs @ Kings Landing is so tedious lately. we blew 15 minutes on Cersei physically walking to the throne room and listening to an inexplicable proclamation. couldn't someone have just informed her? I thought she didn't want to leave the Keep anyhow; hence the whole Mountain faceroll incident. nevermind...

who is in charge of consistency on this show? like in terms of plot and character actions.

nothing makes any sense this season.

It feels like either they have no one in charge of that or they just don't particularly care all that much.

Both scenarios are kind of bad to think about considering the show's budget now is like 10 million per episode.
