Future speculation spoilers (book spoilers really don't mean much anymore):

 

 

Okay. I still have faith Jon will live. Melisandre believed Stannis was Azor Ahai. She said she saw him conquering Winterfell. Then she suddenly departed. Could it be that she saw a clearer vision in that moment, and that she indeed did see Azor Ahai, but it wasn't Stannis, which was quite obvious in the end, but Jon. I know this is all just a rehash of the years old theory, but I feel like it's leaning that way in the show, at least. I felt as you TV only fans thought when I read of Jon's death, he had so much going for him, he could potentially be a King, but that was dashed away. But the more I think of it, the more sense it makes.

 

And sense D&D know for sure, and the power of King's blood has been driven into our skulls, think about that final shot. An awful lot of blood there.

 

 

If it's not true, then that sucks, but if it is, the pieces GRRM has been holding are going to finally fall into place.

 

I'm so excited, I'm going to really buckle down and give the books a second read through.

I feel like this episode, just fuels the flames of speculation. Everything feels like it's pointing to what we all hope is going to happen. But that said, it could all be a big red herring itself. All the things pointing to what us book readers have speculated for years, all there to raise our hopes before dashing them into the cold earth.

On Stannis:

 

 

 

Willing to bet that Brienne didn't end up killing him. Not sure what is in store for show Stannis given how completely butchered he is versus the book, but he's still alive and kicking for now.

 

Could be a sign in favour of my theory that Stannis becomes Lord Commander down the road.

 

I mean, I could end up being wrong but it was unnecessarily ambiguous if he is dead.

 

 

 

On Jon

 

 

 

The show's usually on point with these big emotional scene carry overs from the book but this one fell a little short for me. Maybe because they've been banging us over the head with Olly f*cking Chekov all season, when it came his turn I couldn't elicit anything more than a 'meh'. It's a shame because in so far as the books are concerned, I found this worse than the Red Wedding.

 

On the plus side, I can be happy that they didn't have Dolorious Edd stab Jon too. Otherwise I'd of been pretty damn livid

 

Future speculation: Jon gets the Kiss of Life/Fire from Mel. The show made a big point of Mel meeting Thoros of Myr back in season 3 and with her arriving at the wall before hand (Yeah, she's already there in the books but whatever) it could not be more obvious to me that this'll be the outcome.

Now you people felt what I was feeling at the end of Jons last chapter in a Dance with Dragons four years ago. Never believed he was dead until now. I'm rooting for the White Walkers now. Hope those bastards kill Olly first.

The biggest cliffhanger of all is when due to the nature of the show you're not sure if it's a cliffhanger or not. f*ck this show though. f*ck it to hell and back and to hell again. I'm giving The Sopranos another rewatch. I kinda miss the simplicity of organized crime.

Not Snow man.. Who the f*ck is left? i didnt really realize how much i liked him until now.

 

I expected Myrcella's death, i mean that long ass kiss was clearly an indicator. Couldnt we have had a happy scene for a change? Nope, she had to f*cking die after that nice speech.

 

Stannis f*cked up, all his damn fault though. The Kingsguard death was cool, what a piece of sh*t that guy was. Not sure how Sansa and Reek could make it from that height though? did they hope the snow would break the fall or something? It didnt look that deep.

 

I dunno about the books or about that Azor thing. But hope Snow isnt really dead. I kind of had a "f*ck this show" moments while watching. Not excited about the next season that much. Too much shock value for me.

 

And f*ck Olly.

 

First he shoots Ygritte and now he stabs Jon. that guy's been a spoilsport the entire time.

What's with the snow meltdowning before the battle, I thought winter was coming? Why was snow melting? I hope the whitewalkers destroy all the nights watch ... Go whitewalkers!!

 

Tyrion went from nothing to ruling a city. That's was a good feeling moment. It's where he belongs.

That's a bullsh*t interview in my opinion. He'll be back, my next t-shirt will read "Jon Will Be Back"

 

I don't, nor did I when I read it, believe for even a second that Jon is out of the story, He's dead. But that isn't permanent on Planetos as we have seen multiple time.

 

Yen, I love the Stannis as Lord Commander idea... then he'll die, Jon get re-elected and become the 1000th, which must have some significance.

Great movement for Arya and Sansa. Overall tied up a few things and opened some doors for next season, so I'm satisfied but still feeling tense. Knew something was coming as I knew where the last book ended.

Now that I've had time to digest, excluding Kings Landing; that was one of if not the worst season finale of a show I've enjoyed (more or less) - even worse than Supernatural season 10 finale was.

 

If not the worst episode of Game of Thrones to date, it certainly is a contender. I cannot even. I literally cannot even.

On Stannis:

 

 

I have doubts he is dead, although it could well be the case. It'd be disappointing if he is, because he deserved better than being killed by Brienne in that manner; killing a wounded, dying man doesn't feel like something Brienne would do either, despite her anger towards Stannis. I like the idea of him becoming Lord Commander - at the last moment he reflects upon all the terrible choices he has made, and the consequences they have had, thus begging Brienne for a chance at redemption on the Wall (where he knows the real fight lies.) He has been too big a character on the show, and in this season particularly, for his tale to come to such an abrupt end.

On Dorne:

 

 

Once again, f*ck the Sand Snakes, and f*ck Ellaria Sand in particular. Such an irrational, irritating bunch of harpies man. When Oberyn was alive, I think they really nailed the feeling I had myself that the Dornish were the closest thing to 'good guys' in the 7Ks; more open, more tolerant, more moral. But they have taken a wrecking ball to that idea this season. As I said already, more Doran and less Sand Yawns would have made things much better.

Maybe Myrcella somehow lives though? It would be nice to see. Perhaps Tristane anticipating that his aunt is a total bitch and that he should prepare for the worst? She's by no means a crucial character so it would be no great loss, but for that very reason it makes little sense to kill her off; people have little to no attachment to her.

On Jon:

 

 

He can't be dead. Well, he can be, but not for long. He's the closest thing the series has to a main character (dragontits aside) and has had so much speculation built up about him, and it just seems completely improbable that this is the end of the road for him. Personally, I'm a believer in the White Walkers = First Men theory, and so I think his 'resurrection' might not be quite what people expect. Kit Harington saying he won't appear in the next season might be true (which does not disqualify the possibility of a return in S7) or it may be a red herring. Both are equally valid imo, but this simply cannot be the end of the road. Otherwise who's really left for people to give a sh*t about? Dany? A divisive figure at best, who I personally find irritating more than anything else. Tyrion? A great character, but he's always served an ancillary role of sorts, rather than ruling the roost. Sansa? It seems like it won't be until next season that she finally comes into her own.

 

 

There have been many enjoyable parts to this season, but on the whole I'd say it's been the weakest thus far. It should not take 7 episodes of what was essentially filler to set up an extravaganza in the final three episodes. Especially when you consider there is a mere 20 episodes of the entire show left to go - consider how much will have to be crammed into that for a satisfying ending to affairs. Part of me really wants to just depart from the show until the final two books are released, but judging by the current rate, the book series won't be finished until I dunno... Q4 2022?

The only reason I don't think he's dead is the fact that heroic characters in this show seem to get killed in the 9th episode and the next one shows us the aftermath of that. Ending the season on death of one of the most important characters in the show simply doesn't make sense when you take into account everything we know about how the show works. There is something wrong with that. But at the same time I don't want to be too hopeful.

If Jon is dead I hope they kill off the wall entirely. Really nothing interesting about anyone there with him gone (aside from the Whitewalkers ).

but just imagine watching a season of Samwell Tarly trying to survive with the wildling and her baby. That would just be.........ah f*ck it Jon just better not be dead.

Doesn't really confirm anything. What's he gonna say if he is coming back "lol nah jk guys, hes fine, i'll be back next season lolol" or a cheeky "o i dunno m8s guess we just gonna have 2 wait n see" which would all but confirm he'd be back. The only way to preserve the surprise is total denial.

 

Or he could just be ded. Which is totally possible, but entirely stupid.
