Just when i was liking Stannis.. Can that priest chick just f*ck off and die already? Really good acting from the actress who plays Shireen though. (But i kinda found the sudden shift of emotion in the mother kinda unbelievable)

Now we know why they did that scene with him and his daughter a few episodes ago.

Glad Jorah got his chance. the last scene kinda shows that dragons arent that useful against an entire army.

Damn, 9th episode of every season has me on the edge of the seat every time. This time it was no different. That was so exciting.

I was hoping this would be the time Dany got her hair burnt off into a cute pixie cut.

Of course not. It was established in the first season that her hair is fireproof. Unless she's not immune to dragon fire. But we won't find that out unless the dragons cough in her face by accident.

i think in the last scene all 4 realised that daenerys is the one true queen. no more so than tyrion.

for a second i thought Snow wasnt going to be allowed back into the wall, some sort of mutiny

Maj: the dragons are still juveniles, but yeah.

Still don't know what to think about Stannis. Normally I'd have read it, first, and struggled with the book. Now I'm coming from the other direction! Gah!

I love that we got a hint of 'dance of dragons' but that was one of my favourite storylines. Oh well.

Is Aegon going to be a thing in the show, or no? Can we assume that's where Varys is, exploring his plan B? Or is he already back in Westeros......

No chance on Aegon, IMO. It'd be weird to introduce him at this point when no ground work has been laid and all pieces essential to his arc are repurposed (No Arianne - Dorne allied with Lannisters, JonCon rolled into Jorah, Varys supporting Dany instead). I mean, they could still spring an Aegon I suppose but it'd be out of left field.

Varys should be back in Westeros soon™, he's got a date with a certain Kevan next season.

I was thinking that. Dragon fire is not supposed to be like any ol' fire. So I was hoping that she'd still be mostly fireproof but her hair being the least fireproof, could take a normal fire, but not a dragon's fire.

It's really the least of what I wanted from that scene, which they mostly delivered on.

As for other characters not seen in the show, but are active in this point in the books...

I think there's plenty of time even in next episode to set up those characters. The Bannerless Men and Lady Stoneheart could still have their moment with Brienne. I don't think there's time to show Aegon crossing the sea to Westeros but there's enough time to show him there, and at the very least introduce him.

The Greyjoys. I don't even know. Have they said anything about them this entire season? Did they just fall off the map? Who knows what happens next season, but they definitely aren't going to show up in this one.

I'm excited to see what happens with Arya and Meryn Trant. It can't be so easy as her seducing him and killing him. At least I hope not.

For a second there I was half expecting that first (the bigger one) gladiator to be introduced as Strong Belwas, to throw us a bone, but nope.

Anyway, the big thing to take away from tonight's episode I think is...

Stannis burning his daughter alive is a subtle confirmation that he'll never sit the Iron Throne.

Game over, Team Stannis the Mannis.

Only reconciliation is that Stannis will not be the one to burn Shireen in the books. Praise R'hllor.

Ah f*ck. I'll have to watch the episode later but...Damn. I guess this explains why the f*cking Imperial March played whenever Stannis showed up in the show. Such a stark contrast to BookStannis, who I imagine will seethe with anger when he returns to Castle Black only to learn that Melisandre has burnt Shireen.

Heart was racing throughout this episode, should have known it would go with the trend and the last few episodes blow the rest of the season out of the water. I don't think I have felt such a range of emotions all in the space of 50 minutes; suspense, anger, sorrow and literally squeeing with joy at the final scenes. Cannot wait for the finale.

f*cking hell. That is all I can say. Oh and f*ck Stannis.

Miss Malevolent

Yeah, Stannis sealed his fate with that one.

I guess my theory about John Snow sharing the throne with Daenryas Targaryen still stands...even though...

John gets stabbed next week.

Watching that Stannis daughter scene was pretty hard to watch.

All for a "sacrifice", damn.

Oh the last scene ha.

When they were surrounded I was thinking to myself "wouldn't it funny if a dragon comes along to save the day", and that's exactly what happened. Thought it was bit cheesy, but cool nonetheless.

This season has gone by so fast, only one episode left.

My God, that last scene. Incredible.

It does have me a bit concerned in regards to how useful the dragons will be when they eventually face the white walkers. I'm guessing they'd pretty much have to stay in the air and resort to fly-bys, because they'd get swarmed by wights way too easily on the ground.

We only got a taste of one, though. And from what I am to understand, all 3 haven't matured fully just yet.

Side-note...

Wouldn't it be amazing if Melisandre somehow managed to die to one of the dragons? Get a taste of that cleansing flame she keeps going on about.

i think having three dragons in a battle would be much more ferocious and less easily contained. also, it seemed as though dany kind of "called" drogon when she closed her eyes for that moment, so if there is an amount of warg control that one can gain over a dragon, and if she practices, then i'd imagine you could make them be better in battle by saying things to it like "don't keep standing there getting stabbed you dumbass"

Am I the only one that loves Stannis? He's f*cking mental and that's what makes him the best. He's just a power hungry beast.

His daughter was annoying as f*ck, he killed 2 birds with one stone there. He's just plain ruthless and does what needs to be done. He's the best potential ruler by a long shot. Danaerys is a f*cking killjoy SJW and Jon Snow is a do-gooder too. Who gives a sh*t about the wildlings ffs. They're GODDAMN UNTERMENSCHE.

Stannis should be king and take Sansa as his queen and keep Melissandra and Danaerys as his bits on the side. Let Jon Snow be Nightswatch leader but wipe out the wildlings and give Sam a gastric band. Everybody wins.

I found his daughter pretty cool tbh. One of the few characters in GOT who was pretty much innocent.

----

About the dragons. keep in mind that even if its 3 dragons, the White Walkers will also be a lot more in numbers compared to the harpies in the arena. On the other hand we still dont know how much stronger they can get. Maybe they'll be able to take more hits once they fully mature. (their skin becomes more tougher or something like that/able to breath more fire) but its pretty much all guessing right now..

Jesus Christ.

f*cked up episode, I think that was one of the worst deaths in the entire series. She was possibly the purest character in the show. f*ck Stannis.

Ep10 Speculation:

I can see this massively backfiring on him though - Davos is going to be mega-pissed and if they don't end up winning this battle, Stannis will go apesh*t at Melisandre.

I've got a feeling he's going to lose the battle and have a "I've made a huge mistake" moment.

Dany's bit was good, though the Dragon riding CGI was a bit naff, you can tell where that budget went this season.

I have like a million soldiers, let's just take 10 sh*tty ones to this battle arena, wtf.

I thought those guys were supposed to be, you know, good warriors, apparently they're not? The dragon appearing was cool as f*ck though, seemed a bit lost when they started attacking him, a few more minute and he would end up dead. She needs to start being more severe, and also free the other two dragons, now that the alpha ones is around.

When watching the Stannis scene all I could think was; this is going to f*ck up his entire campaign. One thing is Stannis regretting, and also his wife, But think about he men that serves under him, this is going to be on their minds and if Stannis loses more now they could decide to not stick around this maniac. Also Davos will think less of him and that may affect later decisions.

The Dragons of old where trained in combat and had masters controlling them (I assume). They where also grown up as said before. These three have just free roamed and controlled themselves more or less. And have not been trained to see combat in any way. I do belive it is mentioned that it was possible to kill the dragons of old, it was just harder.

I did like the episode, but not the Stannis scene. B*sterd!

The unsullied is very good on a battlefield. Against guerilla warfare it is different. Not trained to be guarding streets or vip's I guess.

They were outnumbered in a crowded area as well let's not forget. 1v1 the unsullied would probably demolish a harpy. The thing that annoyed me with that scene though was how Daenerys just moves away from that protective circle and A) the protective circle/nobody at all moves with her, they just left her totally exposed, and B) Nobody tries to attack her or even throw a f*cking spear at her, she was totally f*cking exposed!

Also I don't know why but Arya is getting on my nerves, has been for a while now. Pretty much since forever actually. f*ck your oysters, clams and cockles.

Arya is the arc I'm most excited about actually. It may be because she dosen't plan to be the Queen one day. And because she is training to be an assassin with awesome skills of blending in. She is a ninja!

Well, even if you entertain the notion that it's totally cool and alright to burn your daughter who you previously expended every effort to save from an otherwise fatal disease at the first sign of adversity, it's still f*cking stupid.

Context: He blew his trump card to clear up the weather to go fight a battle of minor importance. It's like Jack trading his last cow for magical beans, but without the pay off.

It's probably less stupid than the way his camp caught fire though. He has that going for him.

"So wee-ares the princess like? I've gan carved her a noo animal"

"errrrrrr yhhhh, about that. We kind of sort of burned her. Alive. As a blood sacrifice. She was kinsblood bro, just think of the savings we'll make on the battlefield. I mean when you think about it we'd have been crazy not to burn her alive."

It's not a battle of minor importance. Winterfell is on the Kings Road and if he can win it he might get the North on his side. That's without factoring in the fact that all their supplies had been burnt and they had no food and were snowed in. If they hadn't done it they would still be f*cked(to be fair he could have gone back to Castle Black but that isn't the Stannis we love).

Edit: If Davos hadn't released Gendry this might not have even been necessary. We should really blame Davos.

In the books, people have speculated that the Northern lords will pretend to back Stannis to win Winterfell back for Rickon, their de-facto liege, and then turn on Stannis. In the show the outcome will probably be the same, with Rickon and his Umber supporters replacing the other Northern lords like Manderly. Once Davos learns what Stannis has done he will defect to Rickon's side. Davos' ride to the Wall could involve an encounter with Rickon, who is residing at the Last Hearth, not far from the Wall. I don't like the blatant character assassination of Stannis.

I mean, unless you conveniently ignore what's shambling toward the wall and that Stannis has on multiple times acknowledged as the true enemy.

When a group of people (re; North) aren't willing to follow you already despite having offered them in part what they want, they sure as hell aren't going to follow you after you do the second worst thing morally in Westeros.

Yeah, it'd be a pretty hard sell for Davos to not ditch Stannis when he finds out. And that says it all.

It's the Boltons in Winterfell at the moment and the North hates the Boltons. If Stannis kills them his popularity will shoot right up. Does Stannis know that Sansa is at Winterfell?

If Stannis can't gain the favour of the North he stands no chance of sitting on the Iron Throne and if he doesn't unite the Seven Kingdoms they will get destroyed when the White Walkers arrive. Winterfell is extremely important.

Believe me I want to see him flay Ramsay and save Sansa and Winterfell, but I don't think it will just be an easy ride to the throne if he is victorious. I have mixed feelings on how I will react to the (assumed) impending battle there.

The North could lose loyalty or at least hate him as much as they do the Bolton's when they find out why and how he did what he did, to do something dishonourable for a God they don't support or have even heard of in order to survive some snowy weather when it isn't even fully winter yet. This could be only the beginning of his path to doing a lot, lot worse. He's already lost some men because they couldn't cope and we didn't even see the men (on screen) who managed to wreck his camp, he'll have certainly lost Davos next season and he's not even close to King's Landing. There will be a lot more challenges ahead, he'll lose bigger friends if he keeps on needing sacrifices to move forward and while I've always been intrigued by Melisandre, I don't trust her plans one bit after her run-in with Jon Snow recently. Short of killing himself, is Stannis just planning to run Westeros dry of king's blood to get to the throne? Then the white walkers really will have no match unless Dany finally gets her finger out of Slaver's Bay.

It was rather interesting to note the lack of any mutiny among Stannis' men during the burning. It's going to be interestong to see where this weaves together with the events in the book.

"Lord Seaworth is a man of humble birth, but he reminded me of my duty, when all I could think of was my rights. I had the cart before the horse, Davos said. I was trying to win the throne to save the kingdom, when I should have been trying to save the kingdom to win the throne."

The dialog in the show as a little different than the above, but the intent and meaning was still there.

She was also his only heir. So now if Stannis dies, his cause dies with him.

My Winds prediction :p

Shireen still gets burned alive as a sacrifice to Rh'llor.

And happens after Melisandre and Selyse read or otherwise find out about the letter from the Boltons that proclaims (potentially falsely) that Stannis is dead.

So Shireen is sacrificed to resurrect Stannis because Mel believes he is Azor Ahai. It doesn't work because hey, Stannis wasn't dead.

The news of Shireen's death and the manner there of will be what drives Stannis to eventually give up trying to win the Iron Throne and he'll become the next lord commander of the Night's Watch.

If Winds of Winter ever releases.. we'll see how wrong I end up being on this :p
