Game of Thrones

I don't mind all the people dying. It's fun. By that I mean, it's thrilling for the emotions. You get attached to these characters, they die. You're sad. This is good. It's a sign that they're great characters that you get attached to, and that the writers and actors are doing their jobs perfectly.

However, they can't all die. Someone will emerge victorious and claim the throne. One day.

But Tyrion better not f*cking die or I swear I will sh*t diarrhea fury. He's the Daryl of GoT.

I think Daryl is more the Tyrion of Walking Dead.

Whichever works better, I suppose. I just started watching TWD before GoT, myself.

It's certainly great when shows have those types of characters that you just absolutely love. No matter what they do.

The thing with people dying is that, as far as I can tell it always serves a purpose in the narrative.

GRRM's quote in that picture says ASOIAF is more realistic but there's never going to be any major character who just randomly dies in a cart crash out of nowhere like in real life. It's not as crazily unpredictable as people say. For example, there's one very blonde girl out in the desert who has plot armour so thick at this point even her dragons couldn't melt it. (EDIT: And by this I mean at this point in the show, I'm not a book reader).

Yeah she has plot armor at this point, I'll admit it.

Really wondering how she's going to weasel out of the situation at the end of ADWD.

That's kind of a spoiler. -darthYENIK

I see Jon and Daeny sitting on the throne together, I mean G.R.R.M seems like the guy who would foreshadow the overall ending in the title of the series: A Song of Ice And Fire.

I just got my Xfinity cable for my new move, new apartment. I'm liking XOD a lot, you can tape to DVD recorders anything on XOD, but not on actual channels, an interesting find!

I found at present, if you have the service, you can see about 3 HD episodes for free, even after the Watchathon special the previous week, I think it expires on the 20th. You get to see the opening show of Season 4 and behind the scenes documentaries.

A few premium shows are found under the settings in XOD programs available, so not only HBO but again, lose the linearity when you do opt in! haha

Was anyone else masturbating during that final scene?

I need some crime-scene level cleaners in my living room after that scene.

I knew it was coming but it was better than I ever could have imagined it.

Dat face, dat expression.

Lol'd at the reenactment scene of the War of Five Kings. It was meant to offend as many people as possible. clearly.

I also loved the way the vision had Bran had was done.

So, I'm recording the current episode; caught a scene on mute - when you guys see it, I'd love to have a debate about concrete in f*cking Westeros.

To not know what was going to happen at "the purple wedding" in this episode. I envy you people. I just want to know what you were thinking when Tyrion was being bitched out by Joffery. I wonder how many people said to themselves, "I hate him, I wish he was dead."

God I hope we get reaction videos like they did with the Red Wedding.

By my above, please don't feel I'm being OT, more to the point, personally battling whether to watch FREE episodes (under my pay grade cable service) as being offered, and ruin some of the storyline in effect, but I can make up for that later on, I suppose, just as used series DVD boxsets show up in video stores and pawnshops.

yeah f*ck that kid.

I bet his mom did it, too.

Yeah I think Cersei may have poisoned the wine, it was meant for Tyrion, because he used the wine thingy in front of Cersei,

Or it was the guy who was made the "king's fool" who got Sanza out of there when the sh*t was hitting the fan, he seemed to know what was going on when nobody else did, so it might have been him.

So how are the celebrations going?

Noo, it couldn't be Cersei. She would never kill her own, her children mean everything to her.
I have not read the books, but I highly suspect Olenna Tyrell is the one who poisoned him. As soon as she found out Joffrey was a psychopath, she was probably thinking OH HELLL NAH my grandbaby ain't marryin' this crazy bitch and plotted to kill him for the sake of Margaery and pretty much everyone else under his reign. Which is awesome and hilarious if it was her, because an old lady killed him. Pretty badass. I also suspect that guy Joffrey made his "fool" know's something... Why did he immediately appear once it happened as if he knew it was going to happen?

I know who killed him, and why, at least providing they follow the same route with the books, and it's honestly not that big of a shock if you really think about it.

If you want to know who poisoned Joffrey without reading the books, there is a hint in episode 2:

Look at Sansa's necklace as Lady Olenna is talking to her...remember Olenna was touching Sansa...after she does, a shard from Sansa's necklace appears to be missing.

It was likely slipped by Olenna, if the plot is following the book, into Joffrey's drink after the goblet is placed on the table and that business with the pie happens.

In the book, I believe she slipped the poison another way tho.

EDIT: It's the necklace that Ser Dontas gave Sansa in episode 1. Remember, he comes up to her at the wedding and tells her if she wants to leave, they have to leave now.

I wonder if anyone else caught that.

I knew it was coming, but the whole time it was reminding me of how much of a little c*nt he is, and I was just giddy with anticipation to see him die again.

Also yeah I caught the Olenna bit as well, they sliped it in there quite well.

Not to backtrack, but I'm re-reading at the same time....

The Thenns... am I right in that in the book they were neither cannibals nor as savage as in the show? I thought they were the most progressive of the wildlings, with democracy and all that good jazz. Am I wrong?

Quick note about the Tyrion/Shae scene - anyone recall if it played out like that in the book? Given hindsight, it seems....

terribly telegraphed to explain her motives with Tywin, which I had preferred to have a mystery because it made it all the more painful for our hero.

No, I remember it differently....

I don't remember her ever being "found out", just that she "testified" against Tyrion in his trial and then her death by the chain of golden hands.

Yeah man theyr'e the most technologically advanced in the book and least bit "Primal" in the slightest but I think the show needed to show the wildings ferocity. Before the thenns came along are the show had shown the wildlings as a bunch of drunk hairy ginger people who like to shout about mance rayder and wrap there piss flaps about jon snows pecker. In the show the wildling's are basically a bunch of actors who didn't make the cut for Vikings instead of a unified fighting force who live on ice and twigs and are hunted by others haha.

I couldn't stop myself, I had to read this, but that is bloody marvelous.

Do you think they do little things like this to test book readers or something to keep their eyes peeled even though they know what's coming? Because I would never have noticed that in a million years without knowing (I'm not a book reader) and when I played it back after reading this I realised just how smart and sneaky it was. Maybe I should pay more attention even though I already feel gripped to the TV.

I think so. Book readers for the most part know what is coming, at least the major plot points, so I imagine they have to do things like that partly for the readers sakes'. And it's also fun just to leave things like that in and see if people notice them.

I am not that far into the books but I knew this was coming so I kept a close eye on that particular character and his/her interactions.

While I am glad that Joffrey is gone, I am kind of feeling a bit nostalgic for the old setting of the show i.e. War of Five Kings, Joffrey being an evil sh*t, Dany struggling to get by. I like where it's heading and things are getting more and more interesting but we're a long way off from where we started out and so many of the "original" characters are gone or changed drastically. Does anybody else have those feels or is it just me?

On a completely different note:

I wonder if we will see Lady Stoneheart by seasons' end? Sansa did mention in episode 1 that they threw her mother's body in the river....so it sounds like they are taking that road. Her body was only in the river for a few days, wasn't it? So I imagine it should be soon and in season 4 that we see this.

Really looking forward to seeing how they will translate that on to screen.

This is pretty fantastic, too.

That was pretty awesome.

Anyhow I do get where you're coming from, but I personally loved Tyrion's and a few other character's developments to come so I'm more than fine with it.

Well, I went into thinking the Purple Wedding was going to be the big episode 9 water-cooler moment. Since that's out the window, I wouldn't be surprised if that turned out to be the big shocker.

Can't wait to see what episode 3 has in store for us. I'm sure it'll be more Dany/Jon Snow focused, what with their noticeable absence in episode 2. I imagine there'll be a considerable focus on Wedding fallout as well.
