But For me it's first time I ever tried to do anything with 3DMAX (NO sketchup used). It's Very early stage of everything, but atleast i Try to do something new. Here you go: Still it's in very early stage. I got some free days right now, cause somebody sabotaged my Working Place. Someone already mentioned that this is useless because it's HiPoly.... but.: my texturing suck... QUICK UPDATE: Small Plane model for scaling... At least try to follow the rules a bit, there's a big yellow text at the top of this page that says that only a near-finished or finished mod deserve its own topic and this isn't even close to finished. I do what I think best, I say what I think is best and if you think I'm not right at doing that, get a moderator or someone else who you think should punish me, but please stop criticizing everything I say, it's so childish. I spend about 18hrs average on PC ....modding stuff, because i'm free now, and about 14-16 hrs is for getting information or looking for answers. Puma06111991 Posted May 18, 2011 Share Posted May 18, 2011 Your modeling scale is far too big. You're using one big texture which you have mapped skydown, to say it like that. You'll have to split up your textures and map them on your island. If you do a close-up on the island from the same distance as you're standing on the island, the texture will be óne blurry thing. Making maps like this is a very bad way. You can use this as start, but you will really have to work out every small part of the island, if you want it to be decent and useful for ingame. I don't think anybody is willing to put this ingame for you, since it is just pointless with such a model. Your beaches are incredibly steep. The models, mountains/islands, itself look like they're generated with some tool. It's okay for a first model, but you're skipping 8 of the 10 steps by using model-generators. That isn't modeling, in my opinion. You can use those tools to manipulate your models, not to create a whole island with. If someone uses tools/generators the right way, you can't see from the model that he used them. Keep modeling and practicing, just don't start with a whole island. Start with a house for example, or a TV, something small. Learn to model first without tools and when you're ready, use them wisely. Good luck . I made height map by myself with photoshop (which is easy btw) and I used it to generate terrain, SO??? about textures ... you right. this is main part i have to learn. In my opinion making this island work in game makes more sense than making stupid racing tracks starwars style .... Your opinion is useless because all you say is DONT do this model and quit everything... thats not advice.... anyway thanks for texturing advices and other stuff.. this is the main terrain, other objects such as vegetation, pier and other decorations coming after i manage to put this in game.
