GTA Protagonists/Main character's

Well according to that billboard, we can call it, in GTA 4 that says Cj is dead, along with some other GTA protagonists, what can we do?? Rockstar games likes to piss you off and we may never know who died or not, because well, every damn time rockstar switches protagonists/main characters for each game. I think they need to stop adding a different main character every time, and maybe look at some previous main character's such as Tommy Verccetti or Carl Johnson.

I agree, it's a shame. There's a lot of great character they could have used (Ken Rosenberg, Mike Toreno, The Truth), but Rockstar made it clear in an interview once that from the start of GTAIII, it was always meant to be a trilogy, nothing more.

 

Shame, truly. But what can we do.

what? who wants to be stuck with the same character every game? Not I. I think it is great how we constantly see things from different people's view in GTA games. It is fun to learn about new characters and that makes the sequels better I think. This is why I'm secretly hoping that for Alan Wake 2, we will play as Thomas Zane instead of Alan because that would be an interesting prequel and expand the universe a bit more.

If there is one GTA character I would like to visit again, it would be Johnny Klebitz, it would be interesting how life is for him after burning down the lost club house. Did he join another gang? did he settle down? I think his story isn't quite over yet, for me as least.

or if you are talking about how R* stopped using the GTA3 era, R* wanted to do something new with GTA4, so can you blame em? There wasn't much more you could do with GTA3 era aside from a couple of loose ends to tie up but barely enough for a new game.

they aren't pissing you off, they are leaving it ambiguously, so that fans can speculate what happens to the protags and what happened and such.

Maybe every 3 (Major) GTA games they should return an old character, but still keeping adding new ones(?). well, as clever and graphic as rock-star games are, I don't think they could pull off adding a different character for each game forever. And girishb, I understand it is not in the San Andreas category, but when i looked in the place where you supposedly put it, it wasn't there GTa series chat?? Well atleast it's still visible at san andreas forums

the gta 3 era characters died, the only thing that remains of them is the name, it would be likely to see a new character with the same name of a guy in the III era (like mmm....phil cassidy?)

I'd rather keep playing as a new character with each GTA game, one reason being that's how it has always been in the series. Also I'd feel it a bit stale to replay protagonists, I mean I'm a huge Niko fan and I'd still rather play as someone new rather than him again. I much prefer the change in perspective in this case.

 

Now I am curious about how their lives are after their original appearance, like how AceRay mentioned seeing how Johnny's doing nowadays.

 

And I would like to see some of them make a cameo appearance or even go as far as make one a main character in a future GTA so we can see them in action once again. That'd be pretty cool to see imo, I just wouldn't want to step into their shoes again.

No, GTA IV Era does NOT share the same cannon with 3 era so its NOT TRUE
