WF the Hobgoblin
I seem to have developed a fear of flying. I went to Stockholm three times when I was 11-12 and that involved a total of twelve different flights. The first time I flew I was a bit nervous but after that I was fine and there was no problem with any of the other flights. Gradually over the years, as I've got older, I've now somehow got to the point where I balk at the idea of getting on a plane again. I don't like heights either but it's nothing to do with that, just the idea of the plane crashing and being made dead. I would definitely say it's a pretty irrational fear but I can't help it. It's not much of an issue though since I don't particularly want to go anywhere, but if I really did, I reckon and I need a bunch of drinks first to calm the nerves. I've developed mild vertigo over the last couple of years. I've always loved flying though (my dad originally trained as a commercial pilot before going into financial services), and at one point was considering applying to fly for the RAF- unfortunately, my vision cannot be corrected to 20/20 so I fell at the first hurdle for fast jet work.
