EmoNinja909
Does anyone have any psychological disorders they want to discuss? I myself have pyromania, fire fascinates me. It brings me great pleasure and relief watching something alight. It hypnotises in ways you can't imagine, I absolutely LOVE lighting matches. It's pretty much a hobby, I probably spend like 50 euro a week only on matchboxes. I've set my house on fire a few times too heh... good times. Anyway, if anyone else has any disorders, please share...
Adler
I got arachnophobia. Spiders and multi-legged creatures really creep me out. Had a couple of panic attacks in the past.

Drift-Kingz
For me it would probably be ADD. I don't pay attention in school sometimes, but for sports I do. I'm focused all the way when playing football and hockey.

Misanthropy? -- I've been recently having strange feelings about stuff. Sometimes I check if they are properly cleaned before I use them (glasses specially). It's something I've never done before. Sam998
Extremely bipolar. I was once sent to a place called CCATS and they said that thet had been around for...some amount of years and that I was one of the two most bipolar people ever there. It's a really awful condition, really really bad. I get so angry. Also I get panic attacks, mainly with things like spiders and when I look at windows at night time. I'm an insomniac and rarely fall asleep before 3. This is very bad because the later it gets the more likely I am to get a panic attack. I might have some OCD, no formal diagnoses to my knowledge though.
Jyak
I'm pretty high on the austistic spectrum, but not enough to get diagnosed. So I'm a little bit aspy (Only thing that affects my daily life: little bit anti-social (anxiety)) other than that, I'm a calm bloke. And I have central auditory processing disorder. Or had, I don't get effected by it anymore - just when I was a child.
Claude4Catalina
without self-diagnosing and being a hypocondriac, at the most I'd say I'm at the teenage acute insomnia and some mild form of depression, which will most probably pass by the time I'm 20. WF the Hobgoblin
Quite probably, but never diagnosed with anything. cactus.
I suffer from Sexlexia. Symptoms include: Chronic back pain and problems walking straight. That disorder sounds way cooler than it really is. Bummer. I can agree with Adler on the arachnophobia. Tiny spiders and grandaddy long-legs I can tolerate, but spiders with either a large, bubble-like abdomen or just move quickly really freak me the f*ck out. My mind instantly goes into "flee!" mode. Although, is a phobia technically a 'disorder?' I'm also quite afraid of heights, but I feel like fears are a rather natural characteristic of of the psyche, and everybody has them to some degree. 1st gtaROCKER
I have OCD, I hate myself, I have mild insomnia and depression to some extent. And I might even be a pyromaniac, as I love fire, lighting fires and I once threw a lit match behind my TV where the electrical cables were. Thankfully it blew out mid-air, or I might not be here to tell my tale... I might be rotting in hell somewhere, or somewhere else I obviously belong. Oddsock
Cacti, phobias are irrational fears, so I suppose they can be considered disorders. If that's the case, then I definitely have a fear of heights, but only when I am on foot and close to a high edge. Being in an airplane several thousand feet in the air doesn't scare me, but looking down at the lobby from the third floor of a building gives me the creeps. I also feel that maybe I'm hyper aware. No matter where I go I don't trust anybody and I'm always on the lookout for anyone who might try to hurt me, even though I live in a pretty safe places. Sometimes when I'm passing people I'll tense my abs and breathe out in case they try to sucker punch me in the stomach. I also get anxious. I have recurring dreams about being helplessly late for important events and I get very excited about and focused on things that are coming imminently, like waiting for my shift to start at work or walking up to the plate on my rec league softball team. My heart rate will go way up and I'll be breathing heavily before I even get started with whatever it is. It's kind of annoying because sometimes I feel nauseous but it helps my physical performance. Machiavelli's Prophecy
I'm afraid of insects. I'll scream my lungs out if I ever come in contact with a centipede lol. Wouldn't really call it a ''psychological disorder'' though cause that makes it sound like I'm schizophrenic or some sh*t.

Being in an airplane several thousand feet in the air doesn't scare me, but looking down at the lobby from the third floor of a building gives me the creeps. I'm the exact same way when it comes to heights. I fly all the time without problem, and have hiked up on high mountain ridges and whatnot without a sense of fear. But when I'm on the balcony of my 6th floor apartment, I do feel a bit queasy looking down. Thing is, I don't necessarily find this fear to be "irrational" because after all, all that's standing between me and a terrible fall to my death is an eroding steel railing that's god knows how old. Furthermore, I'm not afraid of the ocean per se, but when I swim out beyond where I can touch the bottom, I always have a sense a fear about what is lurking below me. The abyss scares knowing that at any moment I could be attacked by a shark, jellyfish, stingray, or some other gnarly sea creature. And what scares me the most about this is that there's next to nothing I could do about it out in the open water. I feel such a fear is very much rational. So what distinguishes an irrational fear (i.e. a disorder) from a relatively sensible and understandable fear? Speaking of irrational fears, check this sh*t out. Now this could be classified as a "disorder," but would you say our fear of heights is on par with her fear of clowns? I don't think so.
WF the Hobgoblin
@ TheCacti I agree. I was watching QI and they were talking about Acrophobia and how it's often mislabelled as vertigo. I can't remember exactly but I think Stephen Fry then went on to say that phobias are irrational fears hence why there is no phobia for fear of sharks and such. I thought this stupid for a couple reasons: 1. High hights + fall = Dead... 2. Out of the 350 odd species of shark, only a handful of them are considered maneaters. Besides, I'm pretty sure you've more chance falling out of a building than being killed by a shark, so I don't really understand why a fear of sharks would be considered any more rational. I don't necessarily see why arachnophobia would be irrational either. Sure maybe if you live in the UK or something where the most threatening thing you'll see is a tarantula in a pet shop, but I wouldn't blame anyone in australia or america for being scared of spiders when you've got f***ing black widows and funnel webs running around. Robinski
You can't have a phobia of something that's rational to be scared of, that's just called fear. I can't remember the specifics of which is a fear of heights and which is falling, but a fear of being in a high up place seems pretty rational to me. Being noticeably high up (i.e. on a roof rather than on floor x of your office block) is bound to spark off some instinct in your brain that screams "Be careful!". There is that weird feeling that some get when in "dangerous" high up places though. It's hard to explain to those who don't get it without sounding mental, but it's the fear that for some reason you'll just randomly decide to throw yourself off whatever it is you're on. That seems pretty irrational to me. Seeing as this has descended into Phobia Talk rather than psych disorders, I'll throw my irrational fear of frogs into the mix. BTW, if you haven't been medically diagnosed I'm just going to think you're a bit weird and not suffering a psychological disorder.

A J
does shyness count as a psychological disorder too many wimps out there, ready to label themselves as having a sort of disorder, it's just a lack of testicles. i havent had the best of upbringings, so people would probably assume i got some type of problem, but not really, I think OCD and ADD are just weaknesses and disorders that wouldnt exist if people were secluded from brain washing societies and werent "wrapped in cotton wool". Irrational phobia of spiders and snakes is linked to fear in the genes, so i wouldnt consider that a "psychological disorder" personally. back on topic - no i dont think i've got a psychological disorder at all, I guess if I stopped to think how sh*tty life can be at times, I'd probably be a depressed junkie of some sort, but instead I keep myself busy working or occupied playing! Life is too short.

Gundog
I have a long list of these. Arachnophobia. I hate spiders more than anything, my worst fear would probably be locked in a room with a tarantula. Claustrohpobia. Yeah, this one too, I hate crammed spaces, and I have trouble drawing a breath when in a tight space, panic ensues fast. Trypanophobia. I HATE needles. I can't stand even looking at one. I punched a nurse during a blood test once. Syringes make me cringe, and so does any other sharp medical tool. Trypophobia. It's not fear, it's disgust. I despise holes in stuff, like maggots eating wounds. It makes me sick, literally. I feel like vomitting when looking at a deep flesh wound, or anything similar. ADD is also a thing I can add here. I'm unable to pay attention to anything, unless I find it really interesting. The reason I fail at school. Mild paranoia. I can't help thinking that someone is watching me. All the time. Everywhere. Last but not least, insomnia. I can't sleep when under stress. Even if I was already awake for full 24 hours, I can't keep my eyes shut. Plus, I have an irregular sleep cycle. Sometimes, I go to bed beat as f*ck, and wake up 3 hours later, unable to fall asleep again. And no, I'm not kidding. You are an aperture through which the universe is looking at and exploring itself.
coin-god
A friend of mine has Trypanophobia too. It's something I find difficult to understand. Bad experience with a needle? What else could make you be totally afraid of them? (She would scream like a maniac if we showed her something similar to a needle). I can understand you may not like to be pinched though.
