GTA 5 will get old quickly...

lol how the f*ck was GTA4 a stepback in gameplay? I seriously stopped reading there

Well for starts you can't fly planes, get a hair cut, get a tatoo, sky dive (Excluding TBoGT), go high in the sky, do paramedic, fire fighter missions, or taxi missions. How is that for you? sarcasm.gif

Oh no, you can't make Niko look like a moron! sigh.gif

Taxis are in the beginning of the game, just not a required thing to do. And most people will agree that the paramedic and fire fighter missions were more annoying then they were worth.

So the only thing you said that is really missed is planes... And they were only really ever in SA. (VC only had Dodo like planes.)

I don't expect a revolution and success is not based on that, this time. Vice City and San Andreas were incremental improvements on GTA III but the increments added up. What makes GTA work is the sum of the parts. All I want is more of the same feeling of freedom and what-if-I-try-this that every GTA has been about. GTA IV plus more stuff is exactly what to expect from anything on this console generation. There won't be a true "GTA V" until there's a future gaming platform to put it on.

Next GTA: new, bigger, more interactive map, new story and characters, all the same gameplay in GTA IV/EFLC plus lots of new gameplay, and another kick-ass soundtrack. They don't have to reinvent the wheel.

If GTA IV was a new movie you wouldn't say the next one has to revolutionize movies, you'd just say you hope it's good!

No I agree. Rockstar cut back a lot of the good stuff that made San Andreas great, but they did this so they could improve other aspects of gameplay. Mainly:

1. Physic Engine

2. Graphics

3. AI - Wanted System

Now I would much rather have these improvements, because there's really nothing else you could do after a game like San Andreas. That game had everything... except for a Euphoria engine.

This is why I believe GTA5 will be equivalent to SA, if not better. It will encompass everything San Andreas + IV had.

"Revolution" is such a vague term, but I am sure we all agree GTA needs certain steps forward from game to game. However, I disagree with the need for major advances in hardware to make major andvances in terms of gameplay. Lets take euphoria as an example, assuming it would be impossible to inplement into previous generation GTAs. The Euphoria animations make GTAIV more aesthetic and fun to look at, but it doesnt really affect the gameplay too much. GTAIVs gameplay could be "the same" just with regular ragdoll physics or even well executed scripted animations. You would probably use less time smashing bikes into walls just for the fun of it, but if you think of it, that wouldnt change much of the core gameplay. Something as simple as the cover system on the other hand, could probably be implemented in previous games. It doesnt really demand todays powerfull hardware, but it changed the way we play GTA.

i cant think of a game that SHOULDNT have online multiplayer.

every game should have online play.

EDIT : theres lots of improvement needed for GTA online though.

So much BS in this statement, many games are better as SP only Elder scrolls is one such game. Online is the most overrated, repetitive, trend to happen to gaming,. No story, full of cheating glitching, raging, repetition, no innovation. The best experiences in gaming and innovation always happen in SP. Look at games like Dead Space, they tacked on MP and it was nothing but a waste of disc space and resources.

Regarding GTA 5, unless they change up the structure, add some no innovations the game wil get old fast. GTA games always were repetitious as they are, this being the fifth one it will take even less to feel "Been there done that". They need to change some things for sure.

I don't really think GTAV will be "IV + Fun", It may be "IV + DLC DLC DLC, then MAYBE fun".

They need a new city. Not New York, not LA, not Miami, NEW CITY.

Do Boston, Hell, do a rural game and try New Hampshire....Well, that would be dumb actually, but we need a new city is my point. I was honestly disappointed to find that R* isn't doing any actual "Grand Theft Auto: Insert City Name" games in the GTA IV era at this point (as far as I know they aren't anyways).

The DLC's were good and all, but the city was already VERY boring by the time the two Episodes came out in my opinion. IV was the first game to have a city that bored me after beating the game. There was simply not enough variation between islands, and Times Square was the only place that I really could remember where it was, because it was practically the only place that stuck out.

It feels stupid to compare, but every other game in the past has had places that you know exactly how to get to. I could knew San Andreas like the back of my hand, same with Vice City, and I didnt play GTA III all the way through like I should have, but I did play LCS and I knew that version of the III Era LC quite well after playing that too.

Ive beaten GTA IV twice now, and I still cant figure out where the f*ck I am when I'm driving around the city. Everything looks way too similar. And I know New York is not like that in real life, because I used to go there for a few days every winter vacation before I graduated. They did good with the game, I dont think its bad, but it did need something to make it special. There were very few missions that are stuck in my head with GTA IV, and that includes the missions from the Episodes.

I was a little disappointed, but I still love the game  icon14.gif  colgate.gif

Boston? new hampshire? be realistic... no one wants to play in a city no one knows anything about. LC VC or SA is what it's all about, I don't even think they should bother doing London.

No one cares what the city is once they play............ Its time for GTA to try something different.

Personally I think RDR relieved any doubts that I may have had about GTA's future. I dug IV I still do, yea its not SA but thank god, Saints Row seems to have picked up on the over the top style of SA. I feel IV gets a bad rap from alot of SA fanboys who just want to be a gangsta flyin a jet pack in a monster truck in the woods. Do people really want country side in every game? I loved the country side in SA but come on if yur in NYC yur really not headed out to upstate NY to go chill in the barrens.

Ive noticed a trend on the boards within the last month or so where people are startin to second guess how good Next will be and how they are much more into the idea of L.A.Noire and Agent. Thats great to each their own, but honestly the fukin second a logo or screen is released these same people will be all over it like a crackhead on wellfare.

If anythin RDR served notice to the doubters that R* has upped their game even more, again I will say RDR was GTA with a cowboy hat, same game, same structure, a few new features, better story and a better second go at MP that was it. Are people so thick as to think R* wont put these updates in Next or hell expand on them? R* knows whats up they got this so chill, no reason to doubt sh*t on their end, theyve had years to survey what people liked and didnt like not just about IV but also RDR.

Also about the longevity of IV and ELFC they have the same as any past GTA its up to you to find the fun just like in VC or SA. Just because IV didnt change the world the way III didnt doesnt mean anythin, the only way for it to have changed the gamin world would have been if it was full on virtual reality that puts you in LC.

At the end of the day IV served its purpose and did give GTA what it needed which was to be updated and overhauled. Sure they took out a bunch of the campy sh*t (and I miss it to a degree) but I started playin this series as a kid and as Ive grown up a bit (not too much) so has GTA. Honestly if IV was SA Jr. everyone would have bitched and Iv would have flopped just like SR does every single time.

@ThePinkFloydSound I totally agree with you about puttin GTA in a time that is not current and as Ive said before I feel that was a great tool R* used, the nostalgic factor!

Man you got it right there. I myself like SA the most and it is stupid to want woods and countryside and mountains in LC. I think R* is great at staying on topic for a game and with 4 that showed. But SA had so much replay value it was insane. The cheats were fun as hell the countryside was awesome it had everything.

It would be incredible to see R* do the SA thing again. Best game Imo

I can't see it getting boring fast, just look at the interest here 8 pages of replies already and we don't know a release as yet.

Multiplayer - it best be or I wont be buying it, can't see it not having though.

GTA4 - I just love to jack a decent car and run it on 4-6 stars for as long as poss - you can't beat it :-).

As to nicking annihilators from around the map and hassling other onliners while trying to navigate between buildings - and then chopping them in to mid air..... aahhhhhhh can't wait, but until I get it GTA4 here I come again.......

What does LA noire have to do with anything? LA noire is a crap game.... What it got to do with this topic? Get a clue

LA Noire is actually pretty good, people are just complaining you can't go on rampages.

And I really don't see how MP could have made it better.

GTA V will only disappoint me if the main protagonist still moves a sluggish as IV's.

Also I personally think online gaming is the worst thing to happen to the gaming industry since the 3DO and DLC. So yeah if V could have no MP and as long as it doesn't have a load of features removed before release only to be tacked on later (at a cost) I will be happy.

I am aware a lot of people like MP, and so please take my opinion as exactly that, an opinion.

.

Until they can create spontanious AI that has problem solving skills and is as unpredictable as real human thought, online play will always increase shelf life of a game.

Sometimes it's obviously tacked on at the last minute, but when it's well thought out and includes multiple modes it will always keep the game interesting. LA noire is a good example or how a SP only game collects dust after a couple play thrus.

I love GTA IV and i still play it today, it's a perfect 10/10 and no.1 on my top games, so i will defiantly won't get old until the next GTA after V.

As bammargera said about online, i kinda agree. I only want them to focus mainly on the main game then they can do multiplayer, but do not over do it. I only want a few modes like free mode (my favorite), cops & robbers and then another 1 or 2.

There is everything that is wrong with IV

1. Boring protagonist

2. Boring story

3. No empire building or assets

4. No fun side missions

5. Phone calls from friends are bloody annoying

6. Very few weapons

7. No customisations of any sort

8. No rampages (that is a bloody mistake, R*)

Total it up, GTA IV is the crappiest GTA ever made. And if R* think they can continue on this path with V, then good f*cking luck with that game, because for the first time in GTA history, Saints Row the Third will outsell GTA V. You R* fa**ots are ruining the classic game IMO.

Let me correct you on that...

1. Your opinion.

2. Your opinion.

3. Friends kind of replaced empire junk, just like how assets replaced safehouses in SA.

4. Your opinion.

5. Your opinion (you can turn it off).

6. 15 weapons is not very few. (III had 13, and hell, SA only had 37 "weapons" and more than half were unused most of the time.)

7. Thank God, SA was the only game that had this anyway, so it invalidates using it in this.

8. Rampages are disguised as other things, just like the gang wars in SA.

Total it all up, you are clearly a SA-fanboy and nothing anyone will ever say can change how you feel about IV just because it is different from SA. Frankly, it is your group that is really doing the ruining, and the Saints Row comment proves everything I just said.

In GTA IV I Felt Like The Online Multiplayer Was Rushed.

Like They Just Threw It In.

If R* Put Alot More Effort And Time In To GTAV MP,

I Think It Will Be A Great Game.

The IV MP Was Fun At First But It Just Gets Boring

Over Time. But RDR Has A Great Free Mode. So I

Think GTAV Should Copy Alot Of Things Of RDR MP

I agree with you, altough i haven't played RDR never. Freemode should be like a new story, something where you can do many things and maybe also improve your character. tounge.gif
