Trouble with wireless on Dell Laptop

I'm having trouble picking up wireless on an old dell lattitude c640. I've checked to see if the wireless cards was installed and working properly. I would like to know if it has to do with anything relating to an update. I would like to check to see if any updates haven't been installed.

 

I'm much more familiar with the update style of the later systems. When I try to see if anything needs to be installed, it trys to open the internet.
