Freakorama
Getting the Transmissionary and Saint achievement in one play through on Dead Rising, its like one of those skill testing games where you have to move a loop of wire along a bending wire without it touching. Also the skill tester is sitting on Michael J fox's lap. Screw up once and you have to start all over.
mrpain
sh*t Dead Rising achievements were a nightmare. 2 was easy but 1 had the hardest with all those photos you needed to take. HalfLife 2 Episode 1 and 2 had some tedious achievements. Episode 1 had that one bullet achievement and Episode 2 save all the buildings was f*cking hard. f*cking striders! Afro Zombie
I'd have to say 'Mile High Club' on veteran on Call of Duty 4. I think that achievement is more about good choreography rather than skill, first time I reached the hostage I was so surprised I accidentally shot the hostage in the face. Another hard achievement for me was carrying that gnome on Half Life Episode 2 to the rocket, god trying to jam that little bugger into the car was a pain! I tried to finish Call of Duty 2 on veteran and got quite far but grenade spam and respawning enemies made me just want to punch a whole in the wall. tuareg
I remember nearly beating Black on the default hardest difficulty (was working to unlock the actual hardest), then simply getting bored of it and moving on to some other game. I honestly don't remember it even being that hard, maybe I'm just damned good. Ha. It wasn't hard for me, up until the last level, of which I mentioned in the post above. Finding yourself trapped in a room with nothing to hide behind and what seems like an infinite amount of enemies charging against you, f*ck, that took me quite alot of attempts to complete. Never did I complete it on the hardest difficulty, the one just before the Black [something] difficulty. Was one of my first proper FPS games aswell. BAMP I remember Black (you can hear me rambling about it from time to time haha), it was my first console shooter. I killed 72 hrs into it no lie. I got bored once i realised i'm rushing through the whole campaign every day without much effort. And yes the final room at the end can be a bitch, but i assure you there's pleanty of cover. The thing that makes it so hard is the dude on the other side of the room shooting the RPG while he's running up and down. - No fighting in the war room on veteran: You cannot fathom the amount of rage i put into this. I only managed to complete it once with literally only 1 second left on the timer. - Mile high club on veteran: I only tried it twice, but after going through no fighting in the war room i already had my daily cup of rage. I might give it a go later. [email protected] was hard enough on regular difficulty. I tried it once on vet and decided against it pretty much. Icarus
Loose Ends was probably the hardest act to complete, especially when you have to run down that f*cking hill while mortar rounds land left, right and centre. That took me about fifty tries to complete; honestly, I think that one was more about luck rather than any sort of skill. At first, I just kept booking it to the left side and running, but I'd always get killed as I was descending the steep cliff (I'd be picked off before I reached the bottom). Then I tried just firing my weapon randomly to stop people from shooting and I almost made it to the end four times, but died just before the cutscene (one time was a mortar hit - I was honestly five meters away from the checkpoint). I decided in the end to hide behind the trees and pick off a few enemies quickly and then make a break for it on the left side. It also took a few tries because you had to be lucky enough not to have a mortar land on top of you. As for me, the most difficult gaming achievement for me will be beating Rebirth Island in Black Ops on veteran; I still need to get past that tank part, which is absolutely annoying. As for achievements I've actually received, I'd say getting all 60 achievements in LA Noire was a bit long, however, it was not overly difficult. At one point I had my PS2 on for 30 hours straight trying to beat it. I couldn't sleep because of the nightmares it was giving me. And that was on medium difficulty! Needless to say, that gets my vote for hardest accomplishment. Oh, man. This is bringing back alot of repressed memories from that game. I might go give another crack on the weekend. See if it's any easier now.

MostOfAll
Those platinum trophies you receive after obtaining all other trophies would be the toughest gaming accomplishments for me. I've never been able to do that. Even for the Grand Theft Auto games and Red Dead Redemption, I haven't ever finished the game with 100% completion. Yes, I've completed the main story missions, but I wouldn't even bother to aim for 100% completion. That's something that's tough, and I don't think I'll put in that much effort for a game any time soon. That's just what I think. I'm a student in high school, so it's definitely hard to balance my schedule. I don't really have the leisure to play games extensively yet, although I would like to be able to do that someday. John The Grudge
The ones that spring to mind are: Completing God Of War (PS2) on the hardest difficulty. The final boss battle is long and soul crushingly difficult. To make things way way worse, the game had a bug. After I finally defeated Ares, I stood at the bottom of the steps to Olympus. Before ascending to the game's end. I decided to finish levelling up with the souls gained from the final boss. CRASH! It had taken me about 4 hours to beat that boss. Now I had to do it again. Defeating Akuma in Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. It's like fighting an opponent who knows what your going to do before you do it. I think what they did was eliminate any human like reaction time. So the game reads your controller inputs and is ready to counter even before the animation for the move starts. It's mental. That's probably the last time I screamed at a game. People saying COD4's Mile High Club on Veteran (a tough challenge to be sure) is the most difficult thing they've done in a game... well it pales in comparison to the two things I mentioned. AreXi
One that comes to mind is beating Shao Kahn in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. Jesus Christ that's one unfair fight, felt so good when I finally kicked his ass. Also Shao Kahn in the latest Mortal Kombat on the hardest difficulty setting. Not as bad as his UMK3 counterpart, bit still challenging.

KilnerLUFC
beating the final mission in black at hard mode The very exact thing that I posted way back in the first pages of this topic, with others also agreeing. The amount of enemies that come at you from all angles made this a toughie, not to mention that they spawned in every location of the last room, so you literally had nowhere that you could just camp in. I finally mastered a technique though, which saw me running from one room to another, up on the balcony, lobbing random grenades off of the balcony everytime that I ran past, then running in to one of the rooms to clear any of the enemies that came at me from the top parts of the room. The most annoying time for me on this level was when I had finally cleared the room of all the enemies, so ran down to the end to wait for the door to open up to the end of the level, and noticed some guy in one those boxed off sections of the room at the end...I had an RPG in my hand, so decided to fire this at him, and due to some clipping bug, the RPG exploded on the wall, rather than go through the gap, and killed me instantly. I think this is one of the rare times that I have smashed a control pad.
friendly luggage
Getting Recon armour on Halo 3 was the hardest thing I've done in gaming. All those vidmaster achievments were a pain to say the least but well worth it!
Redketman
I've beaten over 100 games over the last 3-4 years but I don't think I have done something super or hardcore. At least it doesn't feel like that. But I have beaten some NES games that people say are some of the hardest games on the console, like Castlevania, Zelda II and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. For sure these were some of the most challenging games I've ever played and beaten. I've also beaten most of the Call of Duty missions on Veteran in MW, World at War, MW2 and Black Ops. I think there was one mission in World at War I couldn't beat on that difficulity but overall I think I beat all missions on Veteran. Personally I don't think the Veteran missions are that hard, but they are challenging of course. I own around 40 Playstation 3 game and I have beaten most of them. But I have only won two Platinum trophies. These were from Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and Terminator Salvation. They were not that hard to get but you are very satisfied when you win a Platinum Trophy or a 100% complete in a game. My biggest accomplishment would have been (or maybe) beating the European version of Rygar on NES but I couldn't beat the legendary hard last boss. I tried for almost three hours and then I gave up because it was late in the night. And it felt like it was a hopeless situation because the boss had over 30 lives. My character only had 5 or something like that.
cas-97
The most difficult, legitimate achievement I've got would be the Mile High Club on Veteran on CoD4. I say that because it actually takes some proper skill rather than just dealing with bullsh*t like the laser-guided grenades on WaW Veteran. I swear though, if I ever have to hear "Tango down in section one-alpha!" again I'll destroy whatever it came out of. I couldn't agree more! I killed every enemy and had 13 seconds left. So i thought after 17 tries THANK GOD! Then just then that stupid SAS member put me stuck in a corner. I swear i felt like breaking my xbox but good thing i didn't. But i had to buy a new controller. Richard Power Colt
BUMP!!! THIS THREAD SHALL AWAKE FROM ITS 3 YEAR SLUMBER! Uhh.. I didn't consider it to be too hard, but because a lot of people say it's hard, I'll mention it. I beat Jak 2 on Hero mode. And no I did not use cheats. Didn't take me too long. For some reason everyone says that game is super hard, but I've never really thought so. Edited June 8, 2015 by GTAandStuff
