I don't see how anyone can really say gaming is dead because this game is nothing like the original or even give such a blatant knock on a game they really know nothing about other then a brief snyopsis and a trailer. And what exactly makes this look like a knock off of anything? I can't name 1 game from the trialer that makes this game seem like it's a knock off of another game. It actually looks interesting and isn't a modern war set game. And honestly how much different do people really think gaming can get from genre to genre now a days? Almost everyhting has been in some other game at 1 point and when its in a different game they have to change the mechanincs or try something new. The only thing that will really seperate games now a days is the art style and storyline.

This is just like how people were so down on Max Payne 3 on here and knew very little about the game but were calling it a failure because it wasn't like the 1st 2.

...Crysis. Mass Effect. Half Life.

I mean, it's not a f*cking stretch to call this game out for being derivative. Honestly, it looks like one of those gameloft knockoffs you'd play on the iPad.

I mean, really, try something new? A first person shooter is trying something new? Isn't that a little bit like saying that masturbating with your opposite hand is "trying something new"?

I'm not saying it's going to be a bad game, but it's awfully suspect at this point. And I still think it's incredibly silly that they're calling this a remake, when it's an entirely different game.

How does this resemble Crysis? And Mass Effect? Are you serious? Because this is a game set in the future it's knocking off Mass Effect? Nothing even remotely similar to Half Life. You're just pulling for straws with those comparisons. This is a game set in 2069 about warfare between corporations nothing similar to any of those 3 games you mentioned. Other then being a FPS this doesn't resemble HL or Crysis.

And I think the try something new aspect went over your head because what I was saying is nothing remotely similar to what you were responding to. When I said try something new I was saying that in most games in almost every genre now there is things that have been in 1 or more games at some point of time and they either alter mechanincs or try something new. This game looks as if it's trying something new with the gameplay aspects like being able to make enemies kill each other or the whole x ray vision aspect. None which have been in any FPS that comes to mind. The art style hasn't been in any FPS that comes to mind. And if you think that this is a rip off of those games you mentioned then say the same for a game like RAGE which most that's in that game have been in another game excluding it's different art style approach and few gameplay aspects.

This isn't the early 00s when technology offered numerous new challenges. Probably not until next gen will we see brand new gameplay aspects. Its like the movie business. Almost every movie has or uses the same things that have been in other movies but what seperate them is the story and art styles. And this being callled Syndicate is fit because that's what the game is. It doesn't have to be a RTS game to be a remake. Not to mention how successful do you really think a RTS game will be? It has the same basic story premise which means it has enough with just that to merrit the name.

Oh, child. Look at the color palette. Look at the technology. Look at the funky Orwellian references. Look at the scene where he's grabbing an enemy by the throat.

It's nothing new. It happens all the time. My issue is with loss of the original gameplay. But you'd have to be blind to ignore all of these bits of borrowed interest.

WF Goblin your video doesn't work for me so here is another.

It still works fine on my end. Not sure what the problem would be.

As for the game, I think it looks pretty good. I'm not exactly jumping up and down with excitement but it looks decent and I love the futuristic, cyberpunkish setting (although I still haven't got Deus Ex HR yet). Obviously the gameplay is a major departure from the original but I don't see what the big deal is. I don't see why it needs to be called a remake though, why not just say it's a FPS set in the Syndicate universe?

Once again you're pulling for straws. None of what you mentioned was original or the 1st in any game you thnk that this game is ripping off. The color palltete? Are you f*cking serious? It's a game set in a cyber punk future what f*cking color palltete do you expect? Not to mention what game do you think uses the same color because if any of the original 3 games you mentioned are what you're comparing I doubt you played those games.

And once again the gameplay has aspects that I bet YOU can't name a single FPS that this game ripped it from. The x ray vision with the enemies, the suicide aspect which is probably just 1 of many unannounced gameplay aspects. And you're talking about a loss of original gameplay from a trailer that's a brief snippet of a game that you haven't even played but you're talking about a loss of original gameplay? Lol wow now that is funny.

I can't name 1 game from the trailer that makes this game seem like it's a knock off of another game.

Deus Ex 3, F.3.A.R., N.O.V.A.

You guys sure like to compare games with very little resemblence other then being FPS and overall graphics but have yet to say something that makes this game an actual rip off. For each game you mentioned somebody can counter that argument with games they could say those games ripped off but the overall approach isn't taking something from another game and running with it. Name something that's actually in those games that are blatntly ripped off from those games in a game you've never played and saw 2 minutes of footage from.

How many games don't look that much different in terms of graphics unless they use a whole different are style? If you're trying to compare those games by visual comparisons that's not even a valid argument since not many games look that much different in terms of actual graphics. The art style is what seperates games and the only game that is even worth mentioning is Deus Ex 3 and that's only because they both are takes on the same cyber punk aspect.

oh shut the f*ck up. You were able to comprehend everything I said prior except for when you can't counter any of my points. Either way I'm done going back and forth. You want to judge a game and it's gameplay from a 2 minute long trailer when you haven't played the game. I get it that's how you view gaming. The same bullsh*t rhetoric was used when Max Payne 3 was shown on these forums when people were bitching non stop about a game they never played and were making the dumbest assumptions. The same can be said about this.

It's gotten to the point where I seriously don't care anymore, is all I'm saying. There's one guy out there in every big company dedicated to making my gaming "career" (don't really know a more accurate word for it) a misery. As selfish(?) a reasoning it seems, it sums it up well enough for me, Otter basically covered the actually important stuff that I can't be bothered to write.

Carry on. Enjoy the F.E.A.R. Prey: Singularity Revolution or whatever this game is supposed to be.

Sigh.

"Point" 1: You want to judge a game and it's gameplay from a 2 minute long trailer when you haven't played the game.

No sir. I'm just dissappointed that they took the name and franchise of a venerated RTS game and stripped it of what made it unique.

"Point" 2: I get it that's how you view gaming.

No. See above. You're missing the whole thing about a classic game being stripped of what its fans loved. Also: try using a well placed coma once in a while.

"Point" 3: The same bullsh*t rhetoric was used when Max Payne 3 was shown on these forums when people were bitching non stop about a game they never played and were making the dumbest assumptions. The same can be said about this.

People said that Max Payne was an entirely different game? Really? Did they also make fun of you in that thread? I think I've discovered the actual connection here...

So, you see, I can clearly see what you're trying to say, but I dismiss it because it's wrong, ranty, and pretty silly. I think everyone's happier just dismissing stuff like that than reading ridiculous breakdowns like this.

You think I give 2 sh*ts about anybody on this website? And made fun of? Never. I've always backed all my opinions in any thread I posted in and always will. You have a different opinion and I really dont give a f*ck. Not to mention the things you responded to weren't actually my points and if you read all my post in this thread you'd clearly see what I was getting at.

I never said this game didn't have elements from other games I did however mention that that can be said for almost any game. This game is how ever a different FPS then what most FPS out there are. Not to mention how can you dismiss what I'm trying to say like I ever cared rather you agreed with what I was saying or cared about anything you were saying?

Actually, in a way I can see a bit of valid disappointment here for older fans of the series.

Imagine you're a hardcore Command & Conquer fan and you wait for years and years for someone to do an update and the first thing you see in the trailer is a straight up FPS CoD style shooter with no Real Time Strategy worked in whatsoever. That's a pretty good reason to be pissed.

As opposed to something like Max Payne 3 which for all intENTS AND purposes is still very much the 3rd person shooter it always was just with some major and minor aesthetic changes to bring it forward in timeline and location.

One is certainly more extreme than the other.

I have never played any of the "Syndicate" games but I am interested in this version for one reason: Starbreeze Studios. The same company that made the excellent "The Chronicles of Riddick" titles and "The Darkness", games that I liked enough to write guides on for GameFAQs.

If "Syndicate" is as good as their previous work I may do a guide for it. However, "The Darkness II" comes out at the same time and I am already committed to doing a guide on it (along with "Hitman: Absolution" and GTA V when they are finally released). Should be interesting from a FAQ writing perspective.

Well it would, seeing as both the Syndicate and Deus Ex games are "cyberpunk".

you're quite the funny guy aren't you? But because I check on the site rarely I didn't see your response until now. But to put it bluntly you're an idiot. But since you bought the topic up I'll post a link to the page in the Max Payne 3 thread when it 1st started with me arguing for the game when it's right there in text that a large majority were complaining about the game for reasons that made no sense for anything other then to be something to complain about. Now everybody loves Max Payne 3 and the same thing that everybody is clamoring about for that game now I mentioned in my argument on that thread.

I'm not trying to be arrogant but I've backed my point and always have backed my points in any thread on the forum that I've argued in. People repeat the same things over and over like you but you never were able to make a valid point. You were trying to link things together that I said but you were never able to say anything I said in it's context. You quoted part statements and not the full ones and tried to switch points which weren't even relevant. But you can go to any thread that I've posted in and in any one that has me arguing you'll see I never switched my argument and always came through with what I was saying. People won't agree like you didn't agree and that's fine but that's the point of arguing. What I say is just me arguing over the internet like I would argue with someone in person but the difference is we don't know each other, don't know what we look like and are just internet names. So don't take me out of context or decipher it as ill will towards anybody. I'm just trying to get my point across like everyone else but I'll try to battle it out.

By the way this game looks interesting and we'll just see how everyone feels when actual info is released like a cover story.

Quite a bump.

A COOP Demo will be released and here is something to know about the game.

Syndicate is an upcoming video game by Starbreeze Studios set for release in February 2012 for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 platforms. It is a reboot of the Syndicate series developed by Bullfrog Productions, completely changing the genre from a tactical shooter to an FPS.

2069: No longer governed by politicians, the developed world is divided up into regions controlled by mega-corporations known as syndicates. These syndicates have revolutionized how the consumer interacts with the digital world. Since the consumer requires a device to access the world's data and control technology, they can do this in the blink of an eye via neural chip implant.

Civilians flocked to be "Chip'd" and enjoy all that their selected syndicate has to offer: housing, medical, banking, insurance, education, entertainment and jobs. One complete package. One complete lifestyle. In return, the syndicates gained unprecedented insights, and control, over the individual and their behavior. With little government oversight, business has become war. The syndicates will stop at nothing for ultimate market dominance.

At the first line of this war are the agents, the syndicate's bio-engineered and chip-augmented enforcers. They can breach anything in the wired dataverse, including their enemies, their weapons and the environment that surrounds them, making them the most efficient and deadly technological weapons in the world. Take on the role of Miles Kilo, EuroCorp's latest prototype agent, and embark on a brutal action adventure of corruption and revenge.

Players are not limited to the weapons in their hands. Through the DART 6 bio-chip technology implanted in their head, players can slow down time and breach the digital world around them to take down their foes using a variety of upgradable hacking mechanics. The game has been described as a "kind of mix between Crysis-style first-person shooter action and the clean sci-fi world of Mass Effect". A four-player co-op mode has been confirmed, with a separate campaign based on missions from the original game
