Rockworm
Team Fortress 2 - Played it quite a few times on both PC and console and admittedly, I had a few good moments, but in my opinion, it wasn't anything amazing, unique or overly brilliant like some people make it out to be. Black Ops - I enjoyed the previous Call of Duty's (perhaps less so Modern Warfare 2) but Black Ops was the worse of the bunch for me. The single player campaign was decent enough but I found the multiplayer was chronic to play and not deserving of the hype and popularity it gets. Dead Rising 2 - Got it for my birthday and, for a while, I was having great fun, but very soon it got boring and keeping up with Katie's Zombrex got quite tedious, so not before long I gave it up and traded it in - I was definitely expecting better. Dead Rising 2 sucked, getting the kid her stupid zombrex was annoying it turned the game into one long fetch quest, why couldn't some of the other losers in the shelter get it for me, the games designers should have put a zombrex vending machine in the shelter it would have made life so much easier. I got tired of the game within a day or two and traded it in for something else, for what exactly i forget. Zombies have been done to death, no pun intended. Zombies are the past Necromorphs are the future. My wishlist for Dead Rising 3, no kids needing zombrex and no fetch quests. You know you can ignore the zombrex and anything else in the story right? Just zombie smashing is all I feel like doing so I do it. The game doesn't instantly fail you if you don't do everything on the timers. Good thing because I don't think its possible lol. I know that, i did it several times it didn't make the game any better, i soon got fed up of the give katey zombrex warnings that kept coming up on screen, there probably was some way to turn the warnings off, if there was i didn't bother to check. Prometheus
Half Life 2 is hyped, Quake (the first one) changed the FPS genre forever. Edited May 23, 2011 by PrometheusX
Finn 7 five 11
I am surprised no one put in this one: GTA IV. It was hyped to the sh*ts, after playing it, it is biggest disappointment of the GTA series. I know people who regret buying IV and swap for something else. The story was crap, the protag is just a big contradiction and the city is totally dull and boring with no countryside. EFLC did not really regain my respect for GTA. If R* going continue the same direction with V, I am giving up GTA for good, together with a lot of people I know who would do the same. Edit: I see a lot of IV dissers here. I am glad we have the same thinking. You joined here well after GTA IV was released, so i am guessing you played it, didn't like it and joined here to complain about it. I still fail to see how GTA IV is so realistic as you always say, a few features gone, will probably return and it was easy, that oesn't exactly make a game "realistic" Don't spout that "im not buying GTA"bullcrap, your gonna buy it anyway, just to see what its like, simply because you are a diehard fan, otherwise you would not have joined this forum, even if it is just to complain. I used to think like you did, but i have changed my opinion and realized how retarded i was. Edited May 23, 2011 by finn4life
darthYENIK
I can't take these people that claim that GTAIV is so bad serious. Not thinking it's the best game in the series is one thing, thinking it's sh*t because it's not as good as San Andreas is another thing. Drama queens, all of them. I've usually got a real gift for picking out crappy games despite what advertising says. But I'll go with The Godfather 2. It was okay, but all the hype before the game's release said it was much more than it was.
Sunrise Driver
Yeah GTA 4 is so damn realistic - reloading system like in ArmA 2, driving is very close to real cars/busses/trains; you can't stop bleeding and increase your health by just eating HotDog; when you fell into water from 300 m you'll break your limbs...oh wait... In some aspects Mafia 1 is far more realistic than GTA 4.

I don't know about Mafia 1, but I think Mafia II is more realistic than GTA IV IMO, BUT it had things that were just . Rockworm
Realistic doesn't automatically mean better game. Neither does over the top People complained about a lot of the craziness in San Andreas (can't imagine why myself it was all good fun) Then people complained that it was all gone in GTA IV. some people just can't be satisfied. I thought I had missed the craziness in San Andreas. Then I played Saints Row 2 and a lot of stuff in that game just annoyed me. Theres a thin line where Realism and craziness can coexist. The important thing is as long as the game is fun. LA Noire could've easily gone the TOO realistic and sucked but it did everything it set out to do right. But people are complaining that you can't do whatever you want in it. Too bad Game designers are always gonna make design choices that don't agree with you. Doesn't make it a bad game. Algonquin Assassin
The entire Halo series. Why is it a general notion if you own a Xbox, or Xbox 360 you MUST have a Halo game? Seriously someone said that to me once, and I wanted to punch them in the jaw. It's not that they're terrible games, but they're made out to be the greatest thing since god himself. Just reasonably good FPSs to me. Nothing extraordinary like the hype suggests every time there's a new Halo release. You are right, Also they can't make most of the good stuff from san andreas, it'll just cause them problems and probably lawsuits, take the airplane for example. mrpain
The article was a good read but it was more of his own opinion than the whole gamers. He got some games wrong, like Gears of Wars 2. It's a great game but the hype just didn't justify it. Glad to see Mass Effect 2 being on his number one, but I don't recall any hype for it. Remix
Resident Evil 5. I sat there for hours frustrated and angry that anyone actually found this piece of rubbish enjoyable. Really? Can't move when shooting? What a great game mechanic! Don't really have that many other over hyped games that were bad, except maybe L.A Noire. Although, I'll blame that on me not really enjoying that kind of game genre.

Still I agree though, the game sucked.

I guess I just didn't quite 'get it'.

I have owned my 360 for over a year now and have never played a Halo game, and never really thought about buying any of the titles! Most over hyped game for me is Red Dead Redemption, now i hate to poke the fan boy nest but i really cannot get into that game, i played it from release day for a while and never played it again until around 2 months ago, and i thought "Hey maybe i didnt give this a fair shot" So i started a new game save and started over, and it still bored me The graphics are amazing, and theres nothing wrong with the gameplay ETC, just i cant see the fascination with it! Fireman
Every shooter ever made. [SM]CJZera
Damn, I still remember the people going ballistic over IV's fingerless gloves... God so much spare time... Also personally, every single game on the COD franchise, except perhaps the first couple of them, because they don't make the slightlest innovation and let's be honest, the whole game is a mix of cutscenes and shooting mashed together with no sense of storyline... Also, on a sidenote, those who say Portal 2 didn't live up to it's hype shouldn't have bought it on the first place, for those of us who loved the first portal, the second was a huge success, and it actually has a way much deeper story, believe me.
